A lot more consistent than Stoinis, David, Green & the like. Can be just as aggressive as all of them. And arguably the best limited overs Captain.

Smith scrambling to make T20 World Cup squad as diminishing white-ball returns put spot in jeopardy

I am not sure why Smith is playing BBL & whythis is even considered . The reason everyone gives for notincluding Ashton Turner is “that BBL is not a good enough comp”. I’m not sure what else he has to do, & how he can do that. Turner is a standout 20/20 bat & an even greater standout 20/20 Captain.

Agree, must be bl@@#y hard for the player & close supporters of them. Wish him the best. It’s also amazing how many times a player changes clubs & then gets a serious injury.

Magpies ace suffers long-term injury with entire 2024 season in doubt

He’s got the keys to far higher places with eagles supporters & media than captain.

West Coast going back to the future in making surprise captaincy call to replace Shuey

I agree, you at least need to be able to access the best talent in your academy. Otherwise you’re doing it for the general good which really doesn’t reward or encourage clubs to invest.

Hardwick hits back at critics over Suns getting preferential draft picks 'for the greater good of the game'

I get what Hardwick said, & agree we need the Suns to be successful, premierships or even just consistent finals games. My side, Freo, gets some finals games, but we don’t get any handouts, no father son, and no Academy players because they go below pick 40. Now we caused some of that pain ourselves, but so have all the other clubs that get handouts. I think for the effort that we put into academy players, maybe we should access to at least 1, not 3 or 4 like the Suns.

I am like many who questioned Cummins, but I’m growing to appreciate his captaincy.
We build these teams up to be the best ever, unstoppable, raging favourites, but in the end, India had a big weakness. Their batting, although strong, lacked depth & the lower order lacked game time over the length of the tournament. As soon as the Aussies, through good captaincy, good bowling & desperate fielding, as soon as they broke the Indian top order, India had to play safe. And the Aussies then smelt blood & didn’t let go. A great win against the better form team.

I knew Australia's bunch of 'no-hopers' couldn't win the World Cup, right up until I knew they would

Yeah I think while nothing special he was passable. A bit better than Carey although only 1 game wasn’t really fair on Carey. It must have been a pretty close call who got the nod in the beginning. Anyway, we might have different opinions, but we really can’t say a lot against the selectors now.

Every Australian rated from the 2023 World Cup: Head the hero, Maxwell magnificent, but Smudge struggles

Don’t like Inglis Tim?

Yes we can so the Indian pace bowlers are still effective on a worn prepared pitch.

India accused of pitch shenanigans ahead of World Cup semi-final

The Indian pace attack bowl better on Indian prepared pitches than the opposition. That’s what they grew up on.

Great to see Marsh getting some love. The hate before hand must have been hard to take.

Marsh clubs century as Aussies surge into WC semis on seven-win streak despite 'Herschelle Gibbs 2.0' drama

The fact Mathews didn’t get the umpires ok shows what standing the umps have in the game nowadays & what the players think of them.

Forget the spirit of the game - World Cup 'timed out' farce is a failure of basic common sense

1. are damned if they recruit & damned if they don’t….just typical of comments by most non-Freo supporters. If I remember it was pretty unanimous that Freo needed to stop trying to buy success & draft their own. Now we need to buy. Go figure.
2. And yes I am concerned that we are losing some players. That’s a common problem with clubs that are not seen as consistently at the top. Us, North, Saints, Gold Coast.
3. There are 2 main reasons why Freo haven’t been more successful. When we got created the WAFC bowed to the AFL. The AFL didn’t want another successful non Vic side so Freo got nothing when created. And then Freo made some dumb decisions in their early years which added to things.
I am a die hard West Aussie, so there’s only 2 choices of teams & Im happy with being a Freo supporter.

Will Dockers come to rue lack of trade activity?

We don’t have a replacement for Schultz. Some lesser lights but not up to his standard. Henry, I think he’s a bit soft & not reliable enough although the way the game is going, soft may become good.

AFL Trade Period power rankings: Super Swans, Docker shocker, and the best deal in Gold Coast's history

Not sure what the retention problem is Josephp. We can attract them but then we lose some. I am pretty sure both Neale & Shultz leaving was because of how they were treated, have nothing to support that but just a hunch.
Anyway, maybe some ur young guns can step up, gives them a chance anyway.

'100 per cent': Dees put Petty trade rumours to bed as Dockers trade pair to Pies, Saints

Acres & Shultz both in our best 18 so sorry to see both go (although Shultz not gone yet). Acres wanted more money & we have long term cover. He also hadn’t done much at Saints before so this was his chance to get some good dollars after some time in the AFL. Shultz apparently leaving is urgent family. Sounds about right given his previous commitment.
The others are fringe players no matter what stats you throw in, part maybe from Henry.

'Freo sure know how to lose them': Docker shocker as goalsneak requests trade to reigning premiers

Shultz is one we’d like to keep. Rather strange, Freo is a place like to go to, yet we lose a guy like Shultz. He did turn down a big offer from the Hawks also.

Yes the GF ticketing sucks……but it’s ok until it effects you. You should try from over west.

Grand final ticketing fiasco doesn't make top-tier Pies fans whingeing about low-quality seats okay

Just a d#$k with money

AFL News: 'Pure fun' - McGuire responds to outrage over Maynard celebration, great slams 'codswallop' Tribunal takes

A lot of silly comments on here. I don’t think Maynard intended to hit Brayshaw in the head, I actually think he was trying to put pressure on Brayshaw.
But what I don’t understand is that his action was careless in that there was a pretty fair chance he would make contact with Brayshaw – & he would have known that. So it wasn’t a thug act, or someone playing on the edge, but it was careless & was the sole reason that Brayshaw was concussed. Now I thought that was an automatic suspension.

'Wanted to hit, wanted to hurt': Brayden Maynard - the guilty man found innocent

The AFL -Tribunal confuses me again. I thought when you bump the onus was on you, even if it was a football act.

'Wanted to hit, wanted to hurt': Brayden Maynard - the guilty man found innocent

Now being finals is all that may save him. Deserves suspension. You can’t jump in the air, turn side on & knock someone out & say oh damn.

UPDATE: Maynard sent straight to Tribunal over Brayshaw collision as AFL steps in

High neighbour. Lived in Busso as a kid. Went to Perth near Freo & now live in quiet Augusta. Great down south, but still a Freo follower. Won’t be leaving here soon either.
