I don’t follow the logic. We’ve had 4+ provincial teams for close to 20 barren years now, but it’s all because 2005 was a bad year and we had 3 provincial teams at the time?
The empirical evidence is staring everyone in the face.
What about our best years? They were when we had 3 provinces too. Barely 2 years prior to 2005 we knocked over the All Blacks in a WC semi and went all the way with a champion England team (geez it hurts calling them that 😂 )
2005 was a bad year but coincided with something else, Eddie Jones’ final year as Wallaby coach. If there was a single factor to explain a bad year, I wouldn’t look any further.
As much as I feel for yourself and all Rebels supporters, I’ll admit to being outraged CBA shut our local branch. Barely anyone used it. But I did, so I was gutted when they closed. Similarly, there’s clearly some pretty passionate Rebels supporters, just not many. Certainly not enough to regularly generate a 5 figure attendance. If that’s not real market research, I don’t know what is.
