Yes hard to believe that would be the case, but RA is a special beast with ideas that can be hard to comprehend. Especially when the negotiations Could have been done by CEO and Chairman for just their wages.

Reds players need a wake-up call

A ban for life for players who choose to opt out of a failing rugby model, with RA bungling around losing millions, then failing to pay its players? Covid 19 exposed RA’s shocking financial mess.It was caught with its pants down. I fail to see why players should be banned. Most likely others will follow. If you remove the emotions this whole mess lies at the feet of RA.

The Wallabies should ban Hockings and Lucas for life

You have got that right, from an organisation that was already hemorrhaging money, to waste such sums is inexcusable. How can a group get so many things wrong so often. The ludicrous state it has found itself in should never of been allowed to happen. Where were the financial checks and balances.

Reds players need a wake-up call

I couldn’t have said better, a ” disgrace” to Wallaby rugby. He was a handicap to the Wallabies turning good players into mediocre ones. Then to cap it all off runs away to league after milking the RA for everything he could. Then has great ideas to transform the game he helped ruin. It beggars belief.

Michael Cheika calls for Super Rugby overhaul

Apparently so and there ended up no deal go figure!!

Reds players need a wake-up call

Worst coach in the history of Wallaby rugby should hang his head in shame, he has played a significant part in where the Wallabies are today.

Michael Cheika calls for Super Rugby overhaul

Why is it ill informed across the Tasman he was regarded as a comical figure. Then runs away to league who cares what he has to say should have been sacked before his failure at 2019 World Cup, worst coach Wallabies have ever had, stats don’t lie..

They have had a dose of reality, RA shocking mismanagement finances and subsequently their wages. Millions of dollars lost and wasted. 1 million spent on a broker to negotiate broadcast deal that failed, and so on and so on.

Reds players need a wake-up call

Of recent times there have been players burgling extended careers with mediocre performances, weather you are seen as a stalwart of the game or not irrelevant . You also had a coach doing it to Cheika dreadful, then runs away to league. There needs to be a far more competitive environment for Wallabies to improve, not job for life attitude.

The Wallabies should ban Hockings and Lucas for life

What I personally think isn’t really that relevant to be honest. The fact is that players are leaving RA. I believe more players unfortunately will go with this pay schedule as overseas teams make offers. The failure of RA to have a solid financial position to cover wages etc is not the player fault. It is financial mismanagement. In Nz they have only had a 30 percent cut. Reality is some players will not sit around losing money waiting for RA to get its act together, that is professional sport. For what it’s worth I am a Reds supporter and do go to watch games regularly.

It's time for Rugby Australia to cut players some slack

I do agree with your summary of the Giteau situation. Brad Thorn is still relatively new to coaching and it would be a shame to let this situation harm the team any more than necessary, that was my point.

It will be interesting how Thorn responds to this latest challenge. It will define him as a coach. The Red’s need to put it behind them and re- focus.

To be fair I’m unaware of the state of the Japanese Rugby competition, from what I can gather that was a likely destination. Individual teams around the world can vary in their financial position depending on their ownership. I’m sure Racing in France for example isn’t down to its last dollar so to speak.

I believe they are destined for Japan, however from what I have seen France is still powering on with its rugby program. People I know who have played there have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Yes I agree, same as in any work place why would you stay in a job where there are issues and reduced pay. To be honest I’m surprised more players haven’t opted out due to the uncertain environment with RA. Why would young players who could potentially earn 4 to 50000 dollars in Japan opt for the dole and reduced contracts, not saying its good or bad for the game its just a reality.

Yes JD we are on the continuing story, Sr is a very competitive competition, but if you drop out of top tier games rugby will suffer. Time to step up. Both SA and the All Blacks have gone through lean times and average performances.

South Africa brings a lot to Super Rugby – just not enough

Personally and this is my opinion Liam Wright he already leads the Reds I just think Nick White is at the tail end of his career and the Wallabies should pick a skipper to lead them into the 2023 Cup. Your article was well researched and written, for me I’m not a fan of backs as skippers, personal preference.

Why Nic White should be the next Wallabies captain

I don’t think he’s that great a player sorry, Rennie may look at a younger half back towards 2023 World Cup.

Why Nic White should be the next Wallabies captain

Yes it’s very important who you make as a skipper, I just think someone who is level headed under pressure is crucial.

Why Nic White should be the next Wallabies captain

You are reading alot into a picture, having played in a foward pack a good leader there can make huge difference to a sides ability to win the battle up front.

Why Nic White should be the next Wallabies captain

I’m sorry I don’t seem him as a natural choice at all. Alot of traditionalist prefer a foward to the side into battle, I tend to agree.

Why Nic White should be the next Wallabies captain

Yes when they eventually do then the actual loss will be a concrete figure. They guesstimate RA is about 20 million in the red. I guess this will be revealed in due course.

Like sands through an hourglass, this is Rugby Australia

Public opinion in Union seems to dictate it, tied in with a couple of other prerequisites, without that you will be constantly chewed at it seems.

The Wrap: Overreach stops Rugby Australia coup dead in its tracks

Yes I agree Carroll has no experience related to professional rugby that I’m aware, and this was the main criticism levelled at Castle.
