Australian Baseball is moving forward rapidly. This year we had the first Australian draft where all six of the Australian Baseball League (ABL) clubs…
The year is 2018. Attendances and memberships have gone up rapidly over the past four years and the FFA has decided it's time to…
Go to a Melbourne Heat home game and you will be astonished by how small the crowd is. The truth is the crowd isn't…
Interesting. How often do you manage to go to aces games, once a series?. i would imagine it pretty inconvenient to live so far away
Should we expand the Australian Baseball League?
That probably wont work. Although Norwood already have a reasonable amount of supporters, a 3rd South Australian team would cannibalize the supporter base.
AFL expansion: where to next?
Another WA or SA team would cannibalize the supporter base. split the attendances of the Glory and Adelaide united in half and that will be there new attendance if the FFA were to add another team to those cities.
Which city should the A-League expand to next?
Cant imagine Canberra ,North Queensland or Northern Territory having the support for an AFL team. The footy mad state of Tasmania could well have a team in 2023 if not before. A 3rd Perth team would easily work. And cities like Ballarat and Bendigo have a small hope in actually finding enough support for a team there. Personally I feel another Melbourne team would be the go. It would easily find enough support, mostly from disgruntled Fitzroy supporters who gave up following AFL when there club merged with the bears in 1996.
AFL expansion: where to next?
The A-League expanding to Canberra could work easily. I can easily see the nations capital having a reasonably successful football team. I feel the best option for W-League side Canberra united to establish a mens side and have them compete locally for a few years before joining the A-league.
A-League should look to Canberra for expansion
Canberra could easily hold a team. I can easily imagine Cenberra United having a mens side in the A-league.
The A-League must expand to improve
No North Sydney team. that would be 3 teams in one city, which would cannibalize the supporter base. I say North Queensland could well have another team. The North Queensland fury (now rebranded as Northern Fury) could easily re join the A-League. They have the support and get about 2,500 fans to there NPL Queensland home games. Ballarat is never going to happen. And a 3rd Melbourne team would not poach much of the victory and heart crowd if you bring in a former NSL side which still has a decent number of supporters, say Melbourne Knights or South Melbourne Hellas.
Where to expand next for the A-League?
Thee FFA is bias to Sydney. Why do you think NSW had 3 teams while Victoria only had 1 when the A-League started up?. They play 2 socceroos qualifiers a year in Sydney while other cities only get 1 and some none at all. Despite the biggest club in the Country being in Melbourne the FFA will unfortunately continue to be Bias. The grand final should ALWAYS be a home game for one of the competing teams.
Don't give the A-League grand final to Sydney
NSW shouldn’t get another team. Give it to anyone but New Zeland. Its called the A-League, the A stand s for Australia, phoenix shouldn’t even be in the league.
Canberra deserves a team. The W-League side Canberra united should have a men team. They could play at the rugby League stadium
Wanderers' success: we must expand the A-League now
3,500, cracking atmosphere
