Knowing Nic personally, he’s a phenomenal guy. It’s unfortunate that he seems to get more of the sticky situations than other referees (e.g., 6N game this year as an example). He’d be right in line for the final at present, especially if the Canes make it which rules BOK out.

Well, it was within two phases… a phase is generally counted as a ruck. There were numerous tackles leading up to the try, but the try was scored within two rucks. And please… use the word ‘laws’! 😛

Curiously, the WR and Euro appointments recently don’t suggest that (for the record, I’m a referee and a BIG fan of Luke’s). Indeed, if Pierre Brousset wasn’t injured, Luke wouldn’t have had a 6N game this season. He seems to have fallen behind the pecking order where Karl Dickson is the English #1, followed by Matt Carley, Luke Pearce and Christophe Ridley. Christope will have taken a decent whack at the end of the France v Italy game with the shemozzle with the final kick… similar to Matt who had an unhappy game in the RWC with Wales v Fiji I think.

I think Carter (like any 10 in fairness) is being helped by having forwards who have started to give a crud. When the forwards went missing, Carter and Kelleway, at the time, were the only ones who seemed to actually care what was happening.

Apart from Ryan Lonergan, who else could kick for the Wobs if Carter does start at 10? And that is likely starters, so Kurtley is NOT the answer…!

whilst the SOARR is anti the current RA board, somehow Phil Waugh escapes criticism
Yep. This, for me, takes their credibility down a significant amount. Phil Waugh has been as involved as any other for the past three seasons. Why should the other Board members cop the wrath of Joe and Joanne Rugby and he escapes with nothing?
