Sport tragic. Rugby nut from India. Trust me, there aren't many of my kind. Currently based in the USA. Favourite teams - Manchester United, Sydney Roosters, Pittsburgh Penguins, Springboks, All Blacks, Pittsburgh Steelers, NSW Origin, Proteas, Black Caps.

I actually bought it till the first quote.

BREAKING: Jarryd Hayne named captain-coach of Gold Coast Titans

Told ya they’ll slow down after 50.

This is going to get as nasty as the All Blacks want. I think out of respect they’ll slow down after 50.

My initial thought was 8.22, but I think they’ll go for 8.17 just to complete the trifecta of 8.15, 8.16 and 8.17 kickoffs. (Won’t be 8.14 because, come on, you think they’ll start early!?)

State of Origin 2017 kick-off bingo: What time will Game 3 actually start?

What a memorable series this will go down as. And it’s because the Lions came to the party. Nobody expected them to even come close, especially after the squad was announced and Gatland’s supposed favourites were given a ticket. But how they overcame the odds. Winning a test match in New Zealand is a special achievement these days, and despite the controversial refereeing I don’t think anyone in their right mind can deny that the Lions deserved what they got from the series.

Also, totally agree, Lions tours MUST continue. Sadly the main opposition to these tours is coming from up north itself, and you can kind of understand that too, with their long and protracted domestic season, it’s just a little too much to expect from these players (the fact that they managed to achieve what they did under these circumstances makes it even more notable). Perhaps after the 2019 World Cup we’ll have a revamped calendar (hopefully a global one) and Lions tours will be bolstered, not hindered, by the European domestic season. But it has to continue. It’s an institution unlike any other in sport and we should cherish it.

The High Five: All Blacks vs British and Irish Lions, third Test

Best series of rugby in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Highlights: It's a draw! 15-15, All Blacks and Lions can't be split

I don’t think I’ve seen this much drama in any game of sport. Maybe the Australia vs South Africa 434 cricket match.

Why lead with the shoulder at all then? It was stupid by SBW.

Highlights: Lions level! All Blacks beaten, Sonny Bill red-carded

Agree. The Vunipola incident is so common place in and around rucks. What made this one slightly stupid was that he had racked up a few penalties before that and this one was the tipping point.

Highlights: Lions level! All Blacks beaten, Sonny Bill red-carded

Yeah it seemed a lot like he just dived low at the knees. See that in rugby league these days.
You can see how Garcès’ explanation opens it up to many loopholes, would have been better to go with the no arms penalty.

That tackle was without arms though. A penalty try was awarded and South Africa won by a point or something.

I only watched the last 20 minutes, but how did that happen!?

Thank you Max for telling this poignant tale. Legit shed a tear at the thought of those doomed Australians singing in the face of imminent death.

Remembering Wallaby "Mac" Ramsay - WW2 Hell Ship victim

2014 was the high point. Or maybe mid-2015 when they actually won the ANZAC test instead of just helping the Kangaroos out in their mid-season training run.

Why I'll be cheering for the Lions this weekend

Different era, Jacko.

Why I'll be cheering for the Lions this weekend

Really disappointing. Out of the players who were made to slog it out for 80 minutes on Tuesday, he took Stander but left out Tipuric and Henderson. Te’o vs Farrell was always going to be a matter of what type of gameplan he wants, and now it’s clear they’re going to throw the pill around a bit. O’Mahony was always going to be the fall guy for the first test defeat. Sexton needs to have the game of his life, as discussed previously, but I’d love to see Dan Biggar involved on tour once more.
The less said about the selections of AWJ and Warburton the better.

The High Five: Hurricanes vs British and Irish Lions

Love this series of articles, Adam. 59 lineouts and 27 scrums, my word. Rugby was so different back then.

I played the Lions: Brian Coulter

Wow what a game. But talk about an implosion. Poor old Henderson was probably the best player on the pitch until the 65th minute. Might not make the bench on Saturday now. But really the whole team lost their way after that sin bin. Overall perhaps a fair result though, cracking game.

All the pretenders to the Test side have stepped up to the plate today. Henderson, Lawes, Nowell, Tipuric all mighty impressive. Halfpenny too has put in an assured preformance. Will be interesting to see how many players Gatland takes from this match into Saturday.

Good luck to both teams. I hope we get to see some exciting rugby.

That’s a good point Carlos. But I suppose the Lions coaches can’t go in with a doom and gloom policy like that. They’ll almost definitely look for reinforcements to bring about an improvement in performance. I saw a report about Gatland allegedly already singling out O’Mahony as a scapegoat. Remains to be seen what happens.

After the All Blacks' win, where to now for the Lions?
