i thought cox did well last night, really physical. he did america proud.

well they put their hopes in an ex essendon player.

chanon, good observation. People and fans for clubs expect quick results in such a tough comp (one with a salary caps and draft system).
And when things do not go as expected, those from the sidelines demand this and that. We all do it at times.
A club needs to be really smart and lucky, and success is experienced by the few.
I will never be one to bag any team and pretend answers are easy. I just wish Essendon could rise again and experience another flag or two.
Richmond must embrace rebuild or risk getting 'mired in mediocrity' - here's how they can do it
product is good imo.
A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up
Waz, i think that is a very important point. Questions should be asked why fans have turned away given the standard of the a-league has improved? I don’t think all of the answers will be easy to solve, but they need to be asked so the sport can understand the best possible policy approach to bring old fans back (and get new ones).

foxtel is poor value these days compared to what it was. I am glad i ended Kayo as well. I get to enjoy other sports now like football’s A-League and free-to-air gives me my other liked sports.

yes, it is hard for the tigers because the only way u r going after such a successful period is down. I still see a reasonable side that could still win a lot of games, but it will be interesting to see how soon they can again be a force.
As an Essendon supporter it can be a very long time given events since 2001.

fair enough, but which good teams would have flogged the Pies? Who are the best teams so early in the season? Look at the good starts that Essendon had under Hird, and what happened there.
Let’s see how the ladder looks after 7 or 8 rounds.
it is hard to beat the Lions up there, even the Blues just got there.
Footy Fix: The worst grand final rematch ever just proves the Pies have slightly fewer problems than Brisbane
i do not buy observation that Collingwood is not on a par with last year. The Pies, winning close games all season and the finals, were hardly a dominant team albeit all that counts in any season is winning the premiership. Again well done to the Pies, as perhaps u can also say the Dees blew it but no one is going to recall that point down the track.
It may well be that the Pies cannot repeat, but it is still too early to tell. Pies played very good teams first 4 matches, and now we get to see them play against some less rated teams in coming weeks like North and Essendon as well as some tough opponents.

yes,, we can all have different opinions seeing same events. I thought match was ok, and feel both teams are still pretty good despite their poor start to the season. Still too early to know who r the best teams.

tim has a hard gig rehashing match summaries quickly, but sometimes i think he gets it wrong. His line Pies were bad, but not as bad as brisbane, i really do not get it. It was a huge match for both teams, and Pies showed great character after a shutout second quarter.
Footy Fix: The worst grand final rematch ever just proves the Pies have slightly fewer problems than Brisbane
way too hard, but i suppose Tim has to be somewhat consistent given he has ostated that teams have now worked the pies out.

Peter, I was hoping for a pies win and i will be surprised if the pies are not featuring in the finals again. What a tough draw they had first 4 rounds.

I need a better job

i am a stress head, but i never stress about things I cannot control. Good luck to all sports, and each must fight hard to grow their numbers and interest.
sure some have advantages, but that is life. Money always talks, and those who have power always have more clout.
But things can change if u r smart about it.
six months ago, I was not really into the A-League. but the more i have watched it (aided by the expense of following other codes) the more i now really enjoy watching it.
A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up
i think people appointed think they are already there, say like the other codes were in each state.
But you have to really look at your product, no matter how good, and ask just what do we need to do to get a bigger share of the market and build upon the existing fan base.
I know talk is cheap from the sidelines, but a new approach is needed.
do not worry about other codes, just take measures to boost the great game that is football for fans to enjoy.

well three chances is pretty generous compared to my favourite sport track and field.
But they are the rules, and someone had to have approved of them.

FMD, the A-League is a good product.
And u know what, the many football supporters need to do much more to support their league, and administrators need to think how to build up rather than blaming other players.
FFS, charge less, play in the Winter and see what happens.

I am hoping for a Dons win, but unlikely.
Go Pies, stick it up those who want to ridicule the current champions.
