The AFL forces him to go do some training at his own expense (quite rightly), but then Koch says the club will provide training.

1. So does Finlayson get off cost-free or not? Are there two lots of training happening – one paid for by the player and one by the club?
2. Just how much training does an adult need to understand what’s not acceptable in this day and age?

'Totally unacceptable': AFL bans Port star for 'unprompted and highly offensive' homophobic slur

Looks a great facility. And should do the team fine for the next little while. No need to rush on building a bigger stadium.

Western United's football-specific facility is a milestone worth celebrating

Central Coast is an entirely new city. Great stadium, good support. Ready made club.

Absolute no brainer.

Not the retiring type: Bennett still defying the odds but unsigned for 2025 - his eight most likely and unlikely options

“ despite plenty of reasons why a Carins-based PNG side is a dud idea, it looks to be the frontrunner.”

A bit off topic, but OMG. What an insanely bad idea.

Central Coast Bears is the standout option for expansion.

Heeney has never put together a standout season for the Swans. Individual games – sometimes even a string of games where he’s looked a million bucks. But maybe this is the year where it all comes together for him? Fingers crossed…

'Disproportionate reaction': Forget the doomsayers - Sydney's shock loss to Richmond means absolutely nothing

Adams is back this week.

'Disproportionate reaction': Forget the doomsayers - Sydney's shock loss to Richmond means absolutely nothing

They’ve conceded the fourth most points so far, so there’s reasonable evidence to suggest there’s a fair bit of work to be done on the defensive side of things.

Which brings to mind a fascinating change in the Swans, particularly as it’s happened under a single coach. They’ve evolved from a lockdown kind of team thats hard working, but not particularly skilled into a fast, flowing highly skilled team. If they can bring back some of the defense from previous years without losing the attacking mindset, then they’ll be a complete team and genuine flag contenders.

If the AFL’s rumoured lack of enthusiasm for a Tasmanian team was due to the fact that it simply plays to the base rather than expand the game, then they should have the same view of Norwood’s goal.

And at some point GWS is going to have to commit fully to either western Sydney or Canberra.

AFL News: Surprise new team enters race for 20th licence, Eagles close in on priority pick for 'self-inflicted incompetence'

Lions this year are performing like the Swans did last year. Injuries, team not quite connecting, getting run over in the last quarter.

Considering the Swans have recovered this season, I wouldn’t be so quick to give Fagan the chop just yet…

The problem with coaches staying too long: Will Brisbane have the courage to punt Fagan if they don't contend?

Always bemuses me when people say “[insert city name] deserves a team”.

It’s meaningless, populist rubbish.

Heading for a sad ending: The pending departure of the Athletics in Oakland is a black mark for Major League Baseball

Excellent observation.

We expect much too much from anyone who exhibits talent at a young age. Hopefully he’ll be managed well in all aspects – both on and off the field – over the next few years so he can maximize his talent in the long term.

If it wasn't for Irankunda, every A-League headline would be negative right now

“ He’s too good for the A-League.”

There were a few comments on another article discussing whether the A League was a developmental league or not. I think this comment answers that.

That’s what I was thinking. The Swans so rarely screw up, so this scenario doesn’t add up at all.

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

I’ll comment wherever I want champ. You know that’s the whole point of this website don’t you?

Hilarious how you soccer tragics can’t handle any comment that isn’t glowing with praise for the sport… 😂

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

You literally said “grow the f up”. Sounds like you’re trying to tell people what to do…

Like I said, maybe take your own advice?

Footy Fix: The worst grand final rematch ever just proves the Pies have slightly fewer problems than Brisbane

The only thing more more annoying than super-religious people are the super anti-religious people. Maybe take your own advice?

You care enough to continue to prove how insecure about how much of a basket-case the A League is. When you have to continue to bleat about how popular soccer is in other countries, you’re just in denial.

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

We get it already – you don’t need to continue to prove Tufanoo’s point… 😂

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

That response just provides further evidence of Tufanooo’s point.

“ But the world is full of good football administrators, go hire one of those.”

See the second part of my comment about why this is extremely challenging for football in this country. And rugby union too. If you’re any good, you’ll be working where the big money is. And that ain’t Australia. Just like the really good players are plying their trade overseas…

The thing that football tragics like to brag about (it’s the number one code world-wide) is ironically the thing holding the professional league aspect of the code back in this country. I’m not sure there’s an easy fix to that…

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

True. But again, nobody’s being forced to do anything.

If I were the Tasmanian government I would never have agreed to a fully enclosed stadium. Should have been pretty easy to call the AFL’s bluff on that – commission a survey that shows it would have made no difference to fan support, and then point out the cost difference (particularly in the context of the not exactly stellar state of the local economy. The AFL would have folded on that part of the proposal. Particularly as half the games will be played at Launceston – which (wait for it folks) doesn’t have a roof!

The AFL should lead the way in proposing better-value, cheaper stadiums - without having to rely so much on the taxpayer

There are very few genuinely good sports administrators in this country. I’m talking right across all codes. The good ones ask for the most money , so it’s not surprising that football and rugby union have such incompetent administration – they just don’t have the funds to buy in quality.

A-League avoids total embarrassment after broadcast partner goes belly up

And until far more of the hardcore football fans start to accept just how dire the situation is, the slide will continue.
