I haven’t seen enough of Burton this season but the last 2 seasons I saw some of the most atrocious one on one misses I’ve ever seen. Surprising for such a big mobile guy.

2 or 3 weeks ago everyone’s back row locks were Martin and Olakau’atu and deservedly so, Crichton has jumped both of them. Mighty impressive and glad he’s hitting this sort of form now, like all Blues hopefuls should be.

Five and a kick: An all-Dogs edge for NSW, Manly's predictable collapse and why Benji's old boys should know better

I hear this argument a lot but don’t we all remember what it used to be like with just the video ref? Plain as day errors that can’t be overturned or ruled on. I understand that with slomo etc we’re now looking at things the naked eye can’t see but there’s gotta be a line drawn somewhere. The replays will happen in slomo regardless of the bunker for all the world to see missed seperation or a ball grounded when the ref didn’t see it. I’d love someone to count all the over turned no try or held up calls but we’re too focused on the negative. if we remove the bunker the pendulum will swing back that way like it used to be. Ref uproar has been the exact same for the 30years I’ve been watching Rugby League

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

Our season is looking shaky even with him. His defence right now is as about as good as our Against column reads

'We got what we deserved': Manly's epic choke as Raiders come back from 20-0 down to secure boilover win

In the last decade, only twice have we had worse defence than this by Rd 9. 2021 when were saved by the greatest run of form by a player we’ve seen in a long time and 2018 when we finished second last. 2015 we were last at this point and still a 40pt better side at Rd 9. At this rate, I doubt we’ll be saved like 2021 but our attack might give us a few wins to creep into the finals but it shows we are not a serious team. I can’t recall any side drastically turning around consistent poor defence? Also interestingly the highest scores the 4 highest scores against us are from Titans, Eels, Raiders and Souths. Who except for Raiders are currently the 2nd , 3rd and 5th worst attacking teams at this stage

'We got what we deserved': Manly's epic choke as Raiders come back from 20-0 down to secure boilover win

We’ve been guilty of getting cocky mid game in years gone past. Lost count of some of the leada we’ve thrown and has been very rare to see two good performances in a row let alone 3 or 4 as mentioned in the article

'We’re not going to see the 40-0 Raiders': Seibold's quest for consistency as amazing Manly stat revealed

In recent history we have performed well against teams below us and gone belly up against teams above. That has been somewhat reversed this year so there’s definitely change in the air. We’re also not alone in having periods of the game where a team runs in a few tries but we’re in a real position right now to build over the next 2 weeks for some big tests in the following 2. I can see the changes Siebold is making in our play but I’m most looking forward to if (big if) and when this “Manly mentality” stuff bears fruition. Really need to show something in defence this weekend against a team missing some attacking options.

'We’re not going to see the 40-0 Raiders': Seibold's quest for consistency as amazing Manly stat revealed

Lifestyle would be a big one there surely? I I don’t know Wayne but I can’t imagine that mid west of Sydney being an attractive proposition to live for the next few years

The question Bennett needs to address before deciding if he wants to return to Rabbitohs

People are aware these rankings aren’t real and have no impact on anything and are purely here for our media consumption?
More interesting than these rankings is that there seems to be a huge gap in quality on the real ladder. Every team from 5 or 6 down seems like a bottom 8 team. The comp is looking very imbalanced at this point of the season and hard to see anyone outside that top 6, aside from Roosters maybe, being there at the end.

NRL Power Rankings: Round 8 - Rabbits hit rock bottom, Warriors show signs of complacency, Dragons' bubble bursts

Should have prefaced that by saying the world was doom and gloom after each win and zero hope for the season was gained. The highs and lows of Rugby League…

Gutho fumes at 'stupid' Sivo as Parra throw away lead to lose AGAIN - but should Manly worry about Haumole?

We’ve salvaged points 3 games in a row despite being the lesser team. When I take a step back I have to ask myself… Is this a positive change from previous years? Yes it is, we’ve improved. Jury still out but I’ll take these points and hope to someone’s god that we put it altogether in rds 28-31.

Gutho fumes at 'stupid' Sivo as Parra throw away lead to lose AGAIN - but should Manly worry about Haumole?

Turbo looks more than unhappy. He seems to not care at times, whilst trying. I can’t put my finger on it obviously but something is off

Defences absent as Dessie's Titans go 0-6, while Seibold's Manly show just how far they still have to go

Our average points against per game was already non finals like, it’s now absymal. However, we seem to have games like this against Titans so maybe they know our weak spots? Not fun and I don’t like it. As nice as our attack is it means very little in the long term. Bad 2 pts

Defences absent as Dessie's Titans go 0-6, while Seibold's Manly show just how far they still have to go

The definition for the term disruptor should be changed to “When James Tedesco enters a backline movement”. Makes my eyes bleed every time I see him halt momentum on a backline play and jink back into the defence

'Both were really clear': Roosters in a rage over ref's contentious calls as Storm win on the back of two dubious tries

Would be interested to know the impact Covid had on the development of a lot of these younger players. The whole RL community had a year off. No coaching, no game experience, less gym, less skills and no learning from peers. Plus the countless players we may have lost.. this will all be replenished ofcourse but there had to be some consequences

'They are vital': How NRL's old guard are ushering in a new generation - and winning the argument for expansion

Is it just me or does our attack look and feel completely different without Saab? Now that Koula has also been shifted, which I originally thought was genius, and no Saab, Haumole is the sole focus on the right and has been completely shut down 2 weeks in a row. I think Saab is an underestimated threat and even DCE has less tricks in the bag without him holding space on the wing…. anyway, I digress, we beat the Panthers for the first time in 6 years. 2pts in the bank, thank you

Cherry on top: DCE takes down the Panthers with showing for the ages as Cleary bats back knock on chat

It looked like an attempt at a suplex. Young fella knew it was the wrong move

Des despondent as 'inexcusable' Titans battered by Dolphins - but should hip-drop have been a send-off?

Any given decision on a large majority of calls on any weekend will result in a large portion of the fan base justifying it and another portion screaming murder how it came to pass. While the fans cant see eye to eye on a rule how can the NRL ever win? I’ve settled for inconsistency with decisions because im yet to see a sport with a ref in the middle ever find perfection. Removing the black and white approach leaves every ruling to the pub test “would he have made the tackle from that position?” While that may make some individuals happier, I can’t see how that would unite a fan base. Rugby League will continue to be a circus for many many years to come. Long live the outrage 😂

'Every time we do black and white, it doesn't work': Does anyone actually understand the obstruction rule?

We lost that ourselves. We allowed Parra to offload at will for 30mins and it ruined us. Might have been some line calls but we got them also with the dce possible knock on.
We missed Saab when trying to win a game with a magic play, we missed Sipley and Lodge leading Alaoia to get a run and Garrick lost his twice leading to crucial momentum shifts. There’s no excuse letting a 14-0 lead go with the quality we have.

Also DCE extremely quiet resulting in big HO also having a quiet game. Parra did very well covering our right side so maybe credit to them. Pensini and Koula former schoolboy team mates I think. Penisni got the points in that one

Moses-inspired Parra prove they're finals contenders but Manly seething as Bunker lacks 'common sense' with no-try call

Interestingly Lachlan Croker and Reed Mahoney topped the league for 40/20s last season at 4 each.

I wonder if the 6 again rule has impacted this “evolution”?

We should be witnessing a creative young Manly Hooker at the peak of his powers right now but instead he shall remain nameless and I’ll just agree with the article.

The evolution of the hooker in rugby league taking a backward step - creativity drops as workload increases

South’s would’ve hit the jackpot had they had a replacement the quality of Shifty or the Ox.
I wonder how much Vegas has affected all the teams. We won’t really know until round 3. We’ve heard Seibold talking about his time with English Rugby and preparing for international hit and run missions which is maybe why Manly have faired so well. If there does prove to be a hangover for some teams from Vegas, who maybe didnt manage travel so well, it will be interesting to see what the flow on affect is with other teams in years to come

Too much to Bear: Danger signs emerge as Rabbitohs start to unravel after years of near-misses

I feel like this solution would probably serve LM pretty well also.

NRL News: Souths start Latrell swear jar as Mansour takes aim at 'f--ing bulls--t’ Demetriou

Only a glimpse but I think I get Koula being shifted to the left now. HO is the go to and threat on the right and TK will be the man for Brooks on the left. I also feel Seibs is leaving Turbo out of the game plan and I like it. Turbo didn’t really fit in today and I think thats a good thing and probably a game plan hidden for later this year. Not sure if our attack needs work or Roosters were just very good defensively but gee it was good to get a win against them. The half time penalty and HO disallowed try prevented a 2.5k collect for me today, thank god for beer and 2 competition points

Sea Eagles rock Roosters to show they're the real deal in 2024 - with a little help from Bunker's blurred tunnel vision

Would prefer reading it in rd 10 as a story explaining why we’re on 20 competition points

'I haven’t seen him like this': Why Croker is backing Turbo to top 2021 - by getting out of his way

I had my gun loaded for MH tonight and you beat me to it. Had to let a few rounds off to the missus who has no idea nor could care who Morgan Harper is

Izack Attack: Tago celebrates new contract with stunning showing but Panthers sweat on Fisher-Harris

“Morgan Harper, who is not as bad a defender as people think” show me evidence to prove otherwise. I dont wanna bag the bloke but tonight’s effort was exactly why I was glad to see the back of him. One on one with room on either wide he will never ever make the tackle. Good on him for staying in the top grade
