You beat me to it Piru. But I will make the comment; Mark Drummond – Expert? At what?

Writing BS. But in all honesty – there are valid points and the same applies to the Waratahs & Brumbies in terms of being parochial hacks.

And it is the same for parochial hack journalists / writers as Mark Drummond. Does one thing he has an agenda to push? Expert! Pfffft!

Strong custodians or factional hacks pushing state agendas? The numbers that will decide future of Australian rugby

Gary, I am glad you have been educated. I t is an amazing achievement.! 😂 😂

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

Have heard of both Evans, and both Allen & Alec contributed greatly to Australian Rugby, and the latter to Queensland rugby. I believe they worked well together.

I do hope you are learning Gary!

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

Irrespective of what your thoughts on Jones are, he did a lot for Rugby, and was successful in his coaching. The results are not in the pudding but in the eating. And Rugby, the Wallabies, ate very well under Jones.

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

I have trouble listening to Hamish fans. Hamish’s poor decisions poor management and over-riding of others was evident from the start. This, in my eyes, was a direction to disaster and that is where we ended up. My opinion, and as always, we all have one …….. and as always I could be wrong.

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

That is 1 x step in a process that needs to be developed from kids to Wallabies.

But it is a step. But a question, how much does he need to be paid, needs to be a value to allow him to deliver “family support”. That is a need and that $ amount impacts how many can go to each SR franchise. But agree – look at it!

But Piru, if all the stories are correct, the Reds and Force are the only franchises that “appear” to be financially sound. And as we know RA is “supposedly” on its bottom.

'Our system is failing': The 'crisis' sinking Australian rugby - and the 'crucified' coach that shows it

Piru and Hoy – I see both of your arguments. But in reality, we need Player pathways and Coach pathways working side-by-side and therefore the coaching development has to start – WHEN THEY ARE KIDS! And so, in reality, the good developed coaches or coaches of the kids need to be good developed coaches who can bring in people – who teach the skills, develop the skills.

We have got ourselves into a conundrum of going in circles. The circles have to stop and turned into straight lines supporting each and every aspect of both player and coach development.

And this is where RA management needs to get their backside into order. WE have High Performance, We have a Head Coach – now someone in RA needs to do a process of bringing a level of the high performance and coach development down to the grassroots, kids and club level.

These things are hard to do when RA and SR franchises have run out of money!

Again Facts bought to an argument! It is called management, something that the ARU and RA have forgotten since 1995.

Well to clarify, the State Administrations did not have it from 1974 to 1995, and still do not have it. Well Queensland seems to have improved. But the SR franchise administrations and State Administrations since 1995 have not really improved.

We hope for that KFTD.

'Stands out like dog's balls', 'set up for failure': Wretched Eddie-Slips moment that explains World Cup disaster

Facts well presented Sheek! Truer words never spoken. by those that should be managing.

'Stands out like dog's balls', 'set up for failure': Wretched Eddie-Slips moment that explains World Cup disaster

Hoy, one of the simple problems, the Wallabies and many SR franchise teams do not have “Captains – Captains as per yester-year – who kicked a players arse when he did wrong”.

This is a simple fix – a first step. How many times have we seen a Wallaby Captain of late (actually years) take his team behind the posts for a bollocking?

'I noticed it': Why Eddie could still play a part in Aussie rugby's turnaround - and the 'hard conversations' driving Brumbies

I am no expert on the matter of RA funds and SR franchise funds, but if I look at Rugby since the 1991 WC win and then to the 1998 WC wind and 2003 WC final, during those years the Wallabies were winning more than they lost. But financially, the State Bodies and SR franchises (later) were struggling financially. Most poor financial outcomes were from parochialism and poor management.

Then RA ran into financial concerns through poor management, serious poor management, over the years.

I have no answer but I have seen little change in management from the ARU to the RA and within the SR franchises and vested State interests. Little change at all.

What I am seeing is Rugby in Australia on a slide that means to the bottom and then out. The perspective is this; not one of the current people in charge of management of rugby in Australia, at any level, has any idea how to right the ship. And if he does, not one of the other management level people wants to listen.

The current coaching setup and performance director is a good step. But this is “playing” / “players & game management”, not financial management. It is not managing the “dollars”.

I believe, and I hate to say it, but Australian Rugby is very close to being on its last legs and on the way out.

CONFIRMED: Rebels CEO made redundant and coaches have contract cuts as hopes of Super Rugby survival fade

As they say with the French, or is it chooks in being rudderless; When on song, they are magnificent but when not – they are bloody woeful!

Been that way since the Les Blues were formed. Which is a pity.

Six Nations 2024: 'Marseille massacre!' - solid Ireland crush 14-man France in series opener

When they come to play, Yes!. But when they do not it is called watching – WTF!

'The putative heir or the actual king': Ireland and France think they're the world's best - the Six Nations opener could settle it

All of this, the Rebels scenario, the failure at the 2023 WC, the current status of the Brumbies as not being on good financial ground, and others – Waratahs, and a lack of pathways for both coaches and players since 1995 (and before), all started through the administration boards and management when Rugby went professional in 1995 and not one of the members of a board or an administration knew a damn thing about “what they needed to do”?

Simple – nearly 30 years of mind dead and stupid idiotic management decisions and “own backyard” priorities.

Rugby is where it is because ARU / RU SR Franchises and even players were only concerned by “their own backyards”. You reap what you sow. And it is now coming home to roost.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

Personally Jacko, I think the NZR should purchase the 4 remaining SRFs and form under the 1 banner. This gets rid of the damn stupid and non-forward thinking RA administration.

Did he get the Wallabies to the WC Final? Or was it the fact of “what had been built” under the previous Coach?

Tony, the article is misplaced and in my opinion, wrong time. Read Colvin Brown’s comment response.

The article is negative, although yes some of your statements may be correct. But I see your article as a “knifing of RA” on selections that I have never seen under RA management in a long time; not since McQueen. The coaching setup is strong and the strongest that RA has ever fielded.

The weak link in all of these appointments, although very good appointments, is the RA Board and its many years of duplicity and not having a coaches back. And that is on the top of having over the last 20 years done very little to improve pathways for both players and coaches.

If Rugby in Australia cannot build from these appointments, then Rugby in Australia is doomed to utter failure in the future.

COMMENT: In trading Greatest Showman for 'boring' and 'pragmatic' Sleepy Joe, RA gambling with game's future

Definitely not a “Ray of Sunshine”. But no facts to support the statement.
