“The Highlanders are back at fullstrength”
I wish that was true, but I think it should be the Hurricanes.

I tend to agree with the meaning of what Dean was saying. Perhaps a little sympathy for what the Rebels are going thru might not go amiss.
If you describe a person, group, or organization as embattled, you mean that they are having a lot of problems or difficulties. Can’t really disagree with that description, but rubbing the Rebs collective noses in it every day is a bit much.
Frankly I’m disappointed with Victoria as a State and Melbourne as a city that they can’t get behind the Rebels. Maybe we should punish them and move the Melbourne Cup from Melbourne to Sydney until they commit to saving the Rebels.

Well, I guess the key is who gets to vote.
It seems from this article that the Super Rugby franchises and state unions vote.
It would be interesting to know specifically who votes and what lobbying is going on, and where does the power lie.

I was.
It could have been to recognize the main leadership of the team today being from Southland.

Haha, I’m giving you a hard time ozinsa. 😂 Sometimes hard for me keeping up with all this modern stuff.
My biggest gripe was the headline. After watching the Crusaders for decades and Canterbury before them since the 1950’s I’m not so quick to admit their dynasty is dead.
The Crusaders dynasty looks dead - so how will it impact the All Blacks?
I was trying to understand why Daniel Carter (DC) was introduced into the discussion, then I realized once again we are living in a new world where facts, clarity and accuracy don’t really matter much anymore. Headline noise is the only thing that counts.

It’s interesting jimmy. The Highlanders have a couple of extremely promising youngsters at 10 who came up thru the system and we thought this would be their year. And the thinking seemed to be an experienced 10 like Patchell would be great to help develop them.
That’s still probably the case but Patchell has turned into a star both on and off the field and seemed to have earned the starting position thru genuine performance.
I suspect where he comes from has no relevance. It’s his performance with the group is what will matter. He’s certainly talented and a great catch.

Haha, did you ever play rugby Skippy, and beat a team that was favored to win? If so, you may understand the excitement the boys who did this today will be feeling.

Well played Waratahs. Now my team the Highlanders take on the Waratahs in Sydney next Friday.
Big match coming up for both teams.

England conquered, Irish in their sights and 'the only holes Ireland have are exactly where Scottish swords fit'
Harry, excellent coverage thanks.
But, more importantly, we’re searching for your entries in the Roar Tipping ladder. Geoff Parkes has started off the year showing his usual cool, calm, style, once again, and is nicely placed on the ladder with a ranking of 27. Muzzo’s off to a flyer at 50th; I stumbled in at 54. Chook and Tim J are testing the waters ranked at 58 and 64 respectively.
But we’re mindful of your finish last season when you roared in from way back and at one stage looked like winning the panel tipping comp was a distinct possibility, before Geoff took charge and won comfortably from Digger and Mrs. Digger.
So, we’re all thinking keep an eye out for Harry. When he chooses to go anything could happen, so we need to watch carefully. We’ll try and get the team lists out earlier this year.
We’ve got to track down Brett McKay as well. He will want to show that last year’s ranking was a once off occurrence and couldn’t happen again.

Suncorp. The Melbourne comment was just to confuse us. Attendance at the Rebels game was around 4,000.

At the end of the day, it’s all about money coming in. Taylor Swift performed 3 nights in Melbourne and the economic benefit to Melbourne was stated to be A$1.2 billion. So, the money exists in Melbourne.
There could be potentially big rugby days coming up for Melbourne. There could be Bledisloe Cup matches this year and beyond, British and Irish tour matches in 2025, Rugby World Cup matches in 2027 all potentially producing huge revenues in Melbourne for rugby which could include the Rebels.
If RA, the State and Melbourne authorities, and some Melbourne billionaires all got together, you’d think something could be done to make the money available.
The problem is when you see an accounting firm coming in and laying people off, then putting key production people on 4-month contracts you get the impression they’re not talking to the right people.
