That’s it for the swimming session. The Australian 4x100m freestyle team is currently receiving their bronze medal. It caps off a great night for Australia with Ariarne Titmus claiming gold in the 400m women’s freestyle and a bronze to Emma McKeon in the 100m butterfly.
The swimming returns tonight with more heats before finals tomorrow morning/early afternoon.

We’ve just seen the first of the women’s 100m breaststroke semi-finals.
Australia’s Chelsea Hodges finished 5th in a relatively slow race. Her time was 1:06:60. It’s outside her personal best but we’ll see what happens in the second semi.

Unfortunately, Australia’s Tom Neill has missed out on making the Men’s 200m Freestyle final by .03 of a second. He’s disappointed in a post-race interview with Channel 7 but looking at the positives of swimming as well as he could.

We’ve just had the first men’s semi-final in the 200m freestyle.
Australia’s Tom Neill finished fourth and he’ll now wait to see if he’s done enough to get through to the final, pending what happens in semi-final 2.
Neil finished in 1:45:74 so he’ll be checking the times closely.

As much as Pliskova is on fire, I still think Ash would prefer to play her than Sabalenka. She has a 5-2 head to head record and has won the last three matches. It was 4-4 with Sabalenka and she can really turn it on at the drop of the hat. Similar to Marat Safin back in the day.
