..or the interviewing the player as he walks off at half-time…or the interruption of play (often during a line break) to hear what the coaches said at half-time.

Give coaches a choice: NRL post-match press conferences are mandatory, but only to say what the bosses want you to say

I also love how the broadcasters don’t seem to have ever given a second thought as to whether or not the TV viewer can actually hear the question. There should also be a new Dally M Award – “Captain Who Looked Least Bored at a Post-Match Press Conference”.

Maybe….whether your coach would think that’s a good use of your time on the field is another thing.

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

He just was proposing a new business venture – a mini golf hotel in Maroubra. Quite the entrepreneur!

NRL News: Dragon says he was 's--thouse' and should've been dropped, Panther in social media strife

Haven’t noticed anything in particular with Gutho. What tries my patience is almost every dummy half putting their arms in the air after half a second wanting a penalty for holding down!

I can deal with the short re-starts from goal-line dropouts, but taking away the penalty for it not going 10 metres or going out on the full was an idiot decision, rewarding incompetence, IMO.

If there is lying in the ruck, they can just penalise like they used to, which I’m sure teams would prefer.

They’ve been ignoring the disruptor play for the past few years, now they’ve started to pay attention. Players have been jumping and waving their hands in front of the catcher’s eyes and it’s gone unpunished. Now it’s against the rules? I’m glad. But what have the refs been doing these past years? As I said yesterday, it’s not in the spirit of the game. Some are worried it’s hard to work out when it’s deliberate. Maybe some of the time. Other times – like the one I’ve mentioned – it’s completely obvious.

The stupid Sharks forward who raked the ball out late in the tackle count when they had Souths on the ropes should get a hearty handshake from JD. After the resulting try, their resolve hardened. He should never (if that story was true) have been given one game to turn the team around, though. Jye Gray was very impressive. I tipped them for a change, but Sharks too good in the end. ….The commentators have started to get on to one of my pet hates: Players acting as ‘disrupters’ to put catchers off and not going for the ball. Don’t meant to pile on Lattrell, but he was the first player I saw do it when he was at Easts. It’s gotten more popular, and to me just doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the game. If possible, I’d like to see it wiped out of the game.

Don't pop the champagne: Jennings' 300th game will be an embarrassment for the NRL

I often remember his oft-repeated line as co-commentator on the Amco Cup when I think a team should take a shot at goal and not a tap from a penalty: “Well, when the points are there for the taking, Ray…”

Geez! You got Latrell because the Roosters re-signed them. I wouldn’t be complaining! (..or would I?)

Commentators who a little less bias than yourself referred to it as brave, but you’re entitled to think that. I never put the foot in when teams are down, but that’s just me…what goes around comes around, and some of my (unfortunate) friends follow Souths. I also never laugh at my own jokes 😂

Young send-off 'over the top', Radley sin-bin 'ridiculous' says Robbo as Roosters reduced to 11 on nightmare night

..and thanks for your congratulations to the 12, then 11 man Roosters team for their brave effort in the 2nd half.

Young send-off 'over the top', Radley sin-bin 'ridiculous' says Robbo as Roosters reduced to 11 on nightmare night

The Roosters for a number of years in a row were the most penalised team in the NRL. Many said ‘well, it’s because they are ill-disciplined!’ Yet it was then revealed that they also RECEIVED the least amount of penalties, which if anything, goes to show bias against them. I think the perception of favouritism from the public comes more from disliking certain teams.

You didn’t really have to go further than “Accor stadium is the worse stadium ever“.

I agree there was a chance he could get there. What I don’t agree with is that JWH glancing in his direction means any more than the fact that Edwards had a good view of JWH. A freight train doesn’t stop that quick. Did Edwards run intentionally into Jared? Maybe. After all, he did manage to swerve around the referee. What I’m confused about is the fact (according to NRL360) that although the ref rules black and white, the bunker has the discretionary powers, it’s why Penrith weren’t penalised when they scored. Speaking of ‘looking’, I believe the bunker is often fooled by attackers running into players to catch bombs when they say “the player never takes his eye off the ball”…there is such as thing as peripheral vision.

Obstruction turning a 'simple' game into complicated mess of decoys and defenders milking penalties

I’m of the opinion that he’s signed a contract and he’s needed. Flanagan should be playing proper hard ball and take a leaf out of George from Seinfeld’s book – to paraphrase: “You’re not happy?!…Well, you GET happy!!”

I was very impressed with the way Bostock didn’t react to the unnecessary rubbing the head and pushing after his dropped bomb. Then scored a great try and didn’t even glance at his taunter, who was right on the scene.

With the constant threat of being penalised using decoy runners, how long before we get a coach who stops using them altogether?

'Every time we do black and white, it doesn't work': Does anyone actually understand the obstruction rule?

It’s been a problem for a few years. And when Penrith are monstering all over the field in defence, it doesn’t get any easier. There was a fair bit of standing back and watching last night when defending near their own line. When they did move forward and put pressure on, they forced some errors. They hung in there, so it’s not all doom and gloom. I wouldn’t write off those late tries like many are doing. Collins coming back will help, and don’t know what Billy Smith has to do to get a run, but the Panthers are a relentless machine who look like they’ve got an iron grip on that Premiership trophy!
