Quenton de Kock has retired from Test Cricket and 50 over Cricket at the end of this series at the age of 30 to concentrate the T20 circuit, SA cricket cannot afford to lose players of this calibre.

Warner, Head on all-time opening partnership pace as monster stand, Marnus ton help Aussies pummel Proteas

26 runs in 4 months, magnificent form, hey Don.

Yes lets continue to ignore Warner’s recent white ball form.

Should always play 4, especially on lightning fast green seamers.

Who?

Yes you are correct, David Warner is the greatest Cricketer ever. Marsh is nothing but a useless Sandgroper.

You are right, nobody likes Warner.

For the same reason you never see any wrist spinners open the bowling, a brand new ball is to hard to grip for a leggie, needs one side roughed up a bit for grip. At least Marsh took Head straight off, it was a failure and they didn’t stuff around with it.

And yet everyone wants to drop Warner, based on Test form, for some strange reason. Not sure Mitchell Gatting, sorry I meant Mitchell Marsh done his captaincy chances much good with that shot. Typical Marsh, it’s always 2 steps forward, then 1 step back with him.

Well Marnus has certainly thrown the cat amongst the Pigeons, but who do they drop? Warner is not going anywhere, he has been our most consistent White ball batsman over the last 12 months, you know actually scoring runs, not promising to do so sometime in the future, so get over it. Inglis has produced the breakthrough innings he needed, Maxwell brings too much to the game, Smith, Head and Marsh are certainties. I am actually beginning to like the look of Stoinis at 7 or 8, and with Green, Maxwell. Marsh and Head we can get away with only 3 frontline bowlers, especially when they are of the class we have.

No Stokes should not be replaced by a bowler and he should no longer be regarded as an Allrounder. He is now a Middle Order Batsman who bowls some handy overs and he is good enough to play for England as such. Joe Root is closer to being an allrounder right now than Stokes, bowled 53 overs in the Ashes compared to Stokes 29. Maybe the ICC should have every player nominate their concussion replacement before the match to ensure it doesn’t get abused.

The accidental tourist: Marnus makes most of chance after subbing in for concussed Green as Aussies edge out Proteas

Here is a good question, if Australia had batted first and Green was hit in the 49th over, who replaces him, Labuschagne or Cummins?

For once I agree with Don, don’t believe Marnus was a suitable replacement for Green, different type of player, Hardie should have played, a true one for one replacement.

The problem for non-Cricket playing Cities like Tokyo, Paris and LA, is Cricket requires specialist facilities to play it, you need a large-ish Oval ground that requires a pitch to be put in the middle of it several weeks before use, not hard for Sydney, London or Brisbane they already have those grounds and pitches in place, most of the money would go into temporary facilities off the playing surface.

Double-edged sword: Cricket at Olympic Games fraught with danger but a golden chance to become truly global sport

Thats another reason I think Labuschagne was a bit suspect, last night you definitely play Marnus but in your scenario they would not and go Hardie at the very least. Green is a genuine Allrounder, good enough to play as either a Batsman or Bowler, Labuschagne is not and Neser is not.

Should have been Hardie, supposed to be like for like, if I was the SA Captain, would have had something to say about it.

Marnus replacing Green was a bit suspect, Hardie is much closer in style.

Surely Brisbane 2032 would be a far better option, while the Gabba couldn’t be used, there are a plenty of other options, Carrara Stadium on the GC, AB field and several grounds around SE Qld have plenty of room for temporary stands, broadcasting facilities etc.

Tim David? Pick a player for a 50 Over WC who’s last 50 Over match was 22 months ago and is not a member of any State squad. We are trying to win a World Cup and are a realistic chance, now is not the time to drop one of our greatest ever ODI Batsman and start experimenting with an unproven player.

Qld has a few batsman, who have shown promise but need to start fulfilling that promise including,
Street, Clayton, Bryant, McDermott and Heazlet all have been around for a fair while now, need to start performing. Burns at 34 is at the crossroads of his career, coming off a poor season, can’t afford another one. Mitchell Swepson is now clearly well down the list of Australian Spinners and at 29 is giving a few years away to most of his competition, needs a big season to get his name back in front of the selectors but with Kuhnemann there it may not happen.

The glaring issue holding the Bulls back: Queensland 2023/24 squad preview

I get the feeling as he has got older, Warner is picking the red ball up a fraction slower than he used to but doesn’t have the same problem with the white ball.

There is nothing wrong with Warner’s white Ball form, he had a huge IPL this year. And scored nearly 400 runs in his last 8 ODIs

I would have had McCullum in front of Lindsay. Lindsay’s record is a bit skewered by one phenomenal series, in his other 14 tests he scored just 524 runs. Overall, the batting is not great, great attack with a lot of depth but overall this team would not make the finals for me.

Team of the Month: a September-born world Cricket XI

We are not short on 5th bowling options, with Marsh, Head and Maxwell almost certain starters and Green a likely starter. Marnus is not yet in the extended WC squad, I’m not sure I can see him getting any more than 1 or 2 chances at most in SA.

Head knock: Travis's career-best innings seals T20I clean sweep of Proteas

I would like to see the number of overs an individual can bowl in T20s increased to 6 overs. It would make T20 a lot more interesting for me. Why does it have to be 5×4
