Where have Sydney's sporting fans gone?

That was a really great read.

Hold the ego thanks, Mr Mundine

What about resurecting the Crushers Brand? I thought the Steam Engine logo was cool and original.

Plight of North Sydney is too much to Bear

The Bombers is a terrible and unoriginal name just like the Broncos. Which would make sense because the 2nd Brisbane bid is made up of ex bronco owners (the very same people who have worked against a 2nd Brisbane team all these years).
How about Brothers? They have a great brand and following just like Valleys. But none of that matters to the stooges running Rugby League. It’s all about ratings for Channel 9.

I think Anthony Mundine is more of a dumb ass than a fair dinkum racist. I’m hoping Geale gives him a towelling and maybe a special belt should be created just for that event.

The end and end of Anthony Mundine

Haven’t they already won by $20 million?

It's time to throw caution to the wind, Robbie

I live amongst the cane toads and mosquitos in Brisbane. I asked a heap of people in the lunch shed at work if anyone was going to the test tonight and nearly everyone didn’t even know the game was on.

Mundine admits to taking wrong direction

I thought Mundine couldn’t get a fight in the US because of his comments regarding 9/11 and not because of his managements strategy.

Mundine admits to taking wrong direction

How about the Sugar Man?

Mundine admits to taking wrong direction

If you sell the jersey for $20 or $20 million you’re still selling out something that has taken generations of blood sweat and tears to create (including mums and dads just driving the kids to games) and instantly devalue it.
Jedi from Alternative Rugby Commentary writes a brilliant blog about it called fade to black:

A very black day for All Blacks fans

Which makes me think about the most important question that should be asked of Rugby: What is the most fun to play. The old rules or new rules?

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

The game flowed because the all forwards played as a unit, rucking and mauling as opposed to standing in a line of defence and clogging up any space for the backs. A bit like blitzkreig warfare vs trench warfare. I don’t have to youtube it, I was dam lucky (lucky because it’s gone now) to play it.

And if you want to use the referee to make a point then nothing has changed.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Cheers. It was only meant to be an anology on one level.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Sam, I don’t think anything of you personally.
I don’t know the answers to your questions because I don’t follow or care about the Wallabies anymore and I haven’t since they changed from a rep team to a franchise and everything else along the way. Because of professionalism the times we are in are unprecedented and if we are in a down cycle where are the signs or systems for positive change?
Campo is just one man but a legend of the game from a golden age. That is my opinion and heaps of rugby people that I know so he does represent me in this instance.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

You missed my point which is understandable since you seem to be a Rugby consumer yourself. I don’t think Sam needs an apology we’re all just aholes and opinions on sports here including you and me. If not he can sue me for councilling.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Sheek, how can you compare McCaw with Jones when the breakaways’ role or the rules of the game have changed so much? At least it should always be mentioned when talking about Rugby Union.
Also I reckon your blog is Gold.

Is Richie McCaw the greatest rugby player ever?

Thanks for that text book example of how out of touch with fans and in love with itself the Australian media is Lordy.

Nine's sport survives as Gyngell pulls a Houdini act

You’re one of those Rugby Consumers that Battered Slav is talkIng about. Your questions bore me to tears. Who cares about one individual player when Rugby has such huge problems. Droves of true Rugby Union fans have left the game which makes Campos article more relevant than ever.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Maybe that is exactly what Rugby needs Happy!

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

The stupid part of your question is actually ignorance. Rugby from Campos era is bloody awesome and I’d rather watch rugby on YouTube than the crap served up today.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Permission to speak Fonz?
Campo is the Hugh Hefner and Rugby Union used to be Playboy. The product nowadays is woman’s weekly.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Well said.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

We’ll be inundated with the same old rubbish Sheek you can safely bet your left testicle on that.
The only hope for Rugby is to add to Campos idea and build a time machine. Go back to the time of George Gregans’ Bledisloe Cup winning tackle 1994 and say from now on players will be paid and nothing else needs to change.
Or a new breakaway form of Rugby needs to be created (using 1994 rules of Rugby Union) and bypass the broken system – ARU, IRB and media all together.

CAMPO: Let's look to the past to kickstart the future

Yeah mate. Part of Rugby culture was to collect jerseys but I’d rather collect plastic bags than the stuff they come up with these days.
