Big Daddy Wasn’t David Smith an Accountant/Banker, difference being, he knew as much about rugby league prior to his gig, as Putin. The politics that is rugby league is all encompassing.
Greenberg could have been one decent CEO,but was too much wanting to be everyone’s man.Playing favourites and being too close to the clubs, is fraught with peril.
Abdo confirmed as full-time NRL CEO
“An easy one”.As the saying goes tell that to the Spartans. This season for all codes, in terms of broadcasting, fans, memebrship, sponsorship has been the most challenging on record.
Er no Paul ,Abdo was responsible for the increase in NRL non broadcasting revenue, and was deeply involved in media negotiations.
I agree with your end of season caper comments. Some of these young guys despite all the advice just don’t get it, and think it’s party time and anything goes.
Abdo confirmed as full-time NRL CEO
Abdo in fact greatly increased the code’s non broadcast revenue spruce.
He’s been working with V’Landys for some time, involved in Operation Apollo which got the code up and running on 28th May, and with V’Landys on renegotiating the old Tv deals and the new Foxtel deal.
Think his credentials at the coal face stand up spruce. The Commission not just V’Landys make them decision in the end.Especially with teh pandemic rubbish that has been thrown at us.Interesting other codes here, have no issues with in house promos.

Hope he’s isolating at the stud farm. Bit tempting for him though.
Nine lose simulcast rights for SBW return
They sure have, and their(Nine’s) commentary team at times are exciting as odd horses.
You can blame both the Bronco’s poor performances and the ordinary Nine coverage for their ratings drop.
I’ll say one thing for ch Seven, they know how to promote and show sports.
Nine lose simulcast rights for SBW return
Embarrassing LOL.You typically ignore the facts I have outlaid Man of 200 aliases.
You simply can’t handle these facts.
Oh and the RLWC 212 Patron Prince Harry in articles appearing in the media in USA/Thailand/Adelaide/ ProSports media reflects on “How Rugby brings families together as he celebrates Leagues Anniversary (125 years)’We’ve got a whole Rugby league World Cup coming next year/I definitely plan on coming back, I would have been back already if not for Covid.” Very niche LOL.
It’s only a niche group of one, who cares about your tr…ing nonsense…OK.
EOD.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
You’re the one with the problem Callum Sinclair/ Matt Steal, neither the British Govt providing millions of pounds, the sponsors, the TV stations, the cities who bid for their stadiums to hold RLWC matches, the players and the fans who attend have a problem with it.They don’t give a drachma what you think.
“Everyone” LOL, you don’t speak for everyone ,except for your many insecure aliases which early posters here have noted.Ok….
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
Spot on Parasite . International eligibility is at times flexible when it suits some other sports that have been around for yonks.Nothing to be ashamed of having consistent heritage eligibility for a RLWC, recognised by Govt(where it is staged) as an International contest and backed financially by them. And also not all teams use heritage.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
I don’t see a problem, all Qld has to do is select top liners from Nthn NSW to bolster their ranks. As we have been educated, Kempsey is in Queensland, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Realistically ,there are decent numbers of Qld players in non Qld clubs ,to fill a competitive Maroon’s squad.
The Qld NRL clubs, the Broncos in particular have too many young uns and few hard heads to steer them around in attack and defence. That was the mature ability of the Lewises, and Lockyers and Thurstons of this world.
The three Queensland clubs are struggling, so where does that leave the Maroons?
Abbott played rugby union so perhaps he can In Brief.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
Keep on subject Matt Steal, whatever the real alias is.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
Cue on time, without the drum roll.
Matt Steal the 201st?? alias he’s used, which we now have in our data base .
And I might add, zero to do with the subject matter.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
Just don’t call it the South China Sea Cup.
Rugby league's identity crisis: The 2021 RLWC can lead the way on eligibility and belonging
I think what’s missing is a drum roll or perhaps moi sticking up for RLWCs (which I have done frequently) ,to awaken the lurkers.
It’s been pointed out monotonously, that in order to grow the game Internationally and particularly when local competitions are in the embryonic stage ,heritage selection that creates a competitive RLWC is the most realistic approach. You crawl before you walk.
To suggest such, brings in on cue the global weights and measurement experts ,who thrive on mockery to feed their egos.

Backline defence needs tightening else the Sharks will find a quick exit ,should they make semis.
Love Bomber’s push for attacking football, that not only makes the game more enjoyable as a spectacle, but appears to provide an uplift in their younger players’ confidence.
The brilliant, totally bonkers play that secured the Sharks an epic comeback win
As rugby league fans we whine because the game has become too predictable at times, too many stoppages for refs’ decision etc etc.
V’Landys has come along and seen the bleeding obvious ,which appears prior NRL administrators to have been placed in the too hard basket, and decided in his wham bam thank you manner to get things done.He pushed for a little innovation ,instead of
refs blowing the whistle for a long hold down in defence and slow the game down, to give the attacking side another set.Play the advantage.
IMO and yes I’m a mere pleb, it makes the game a better spectacle, sure there are other areas that need improving, but crawl before you walk.
Like it or loathe it, the facts ARE ,the NRL is in the entertainment business. If you don’t entertain you don’t get bums on seats or eyeballs on the box, and sponsors to put their loot on board.
Additionally television networks are reluctant to want the cough ,cough, splutter,”product”.
For eons our code has been crying out, since the days of Arthurson and Quayle for administrators with experience of having played the code, understand its inner workings, and potential from an entertainment perspective.
Like Leonidas and the 300 Spartans,V’Landys(Greek descent) he has gone where many other NRL leaders feared to go because of the opposition from fans ,media and anti rl brigade, and damn it innovate.
I applaud his courage and outspokenness in getting the code up and running as promised ,against the odds and trying to make the code more appealing. In fact I’ve seen a fair share of dog awful NRL games over the years.
He doesn’t appeal to everyone, show me a leader in any code or any Government who does, and I’ll show you a BS meter.
Got that rant off my chest, now to solve the South China Sea issue.
Dear Mr V’landys, getting six again isn’t always an advantage
Parasite.
Mate ,I still respond with firm views, regardless of how it is presented to me.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
25 years ago is hardly 50 or 75 years bud.
Really .I could name a few a couple of who are journos with that prevailing attitude. One who wears a red hanky on his noggin.
And the fact rugby league still remains taboo in GPS and Assoc schools in Sydney ,whilst other pro codes are permitted, is a touch of the Old School tie brigade. Spent 5 years playing Rugby at one of these .
That is current ,so with your line of thought ,that is outstanding hypocrisy Denying one ,yet including others. Yet we get so many excuses as to why.Yet Brisbane is able to do it.

Agree TWAS they need less ,money, that doesn’t stop them paying big ones to players like Folau, and then payouts via the court.
They do in fact for each club have bigger playing rosters but you are correct less teams.
But seriously as Rugby has many business types involved in the game,Qantas as a major sponsor, they still stuff up their books.
They in fact secured the backing of $250m UK Loan if needed ,and they didn’t ATM use one iota of it.
It was used as a backstop because of the unpredictable times ahead and the strong chance the comp would not continue, (which it has) under a persistent V’Landys.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
Jezdexter.Fair points from you mate. Yep correct,I played RU for 5 years at an Associated school ,so don’t hold hatred toward the code, just doesn’t grab me anymore.
TBH have little time for RU officialdom, based on the historical aspects towards Rugby league. That is the part that gets me going off the deep ends some of my posts here would indicate.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
Nothing wrong with change to anything TWAS.It is the prevailing attitude prior.Played RU at school when that code was amateur.
Didn’t realise there was some statute of limitations on any classic examples of hypocrisy. You did say RL’s hypocrisy was outstanding, well I gave you an outstanding example of RU’s.
Neither Rugby League nor Rugby Union can hold their collective heads high, when it comes to flashing the cash.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
That they did TWAS ,as just about every working person and company in this country has, but the difference was they(the NRL) weren’t broke and had money in the Bank, nor were in anywhere near the perilous state the ARU found itself in.
And has a decent TV contract( though reduced) in hand.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
Having to get Parliamentarians in England ,to push for Rugby league’s inclusion as a sport in the Armed Services in the 90s, says a lot about sporting discrimination influenced by a competing sport.
It was hardly isolated to the “old dart”.
NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii
I have to say the old North Sydney Bears used to be my 2nd favourite team. The Warriors now fill that slot.
The sacrifices and performances of this Warrior’s team this season under such personal pressures not only to perform away from family and friends for such a long period ,and be such ambassadors for the game and NZ,is worthy of a decent 2021 gesture by the NRL.
If ever a club was deserving of one year winning a Grand Final,it is this one.
I salute you guys.
