It will be a surprise at the toss tomorrow if the Australian XI is unchanged. Following photo shoots with his brother and high praise…
In the build-up to the highly anticipated, inaugural mens day-night Ashes test, it seems odd to be discussing T20 cricket. However, the recently concluded…
It’s hard to see Smith batting at 3 again outside of Asia. Eager to keep him away from the new ball as it presents the best opportunity to get him out. He’s been near impossible to get out against an old ball! Khawaja to stay at 3 and if Bancroft is dropped, it’ll be a straight swap for another opener.
Usman Khawaja should open the batting in South Africa
MELBOURNE RENEGADES WIN BY 7 WICKETS
The first away team to win in BBL07. Bravo the shining light with the ball (5/28). White 79 not out and Harris 50 guided the chase home for the Renegades.
The Hurricanes unable to get any of their top order to go on and get a 50+ score, pushing their total to 180+ cost them the game. Jofra Archer extremely impressive in his BBL debut with 2/17.
In the end, the experience of the Renegades got them over the line.
Next up for the Renegades is the Brisbane Heat at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night (23 December). While, the Hurricanes take on the Sydney Thunder at Blundstone Arena (30 December).

Verdict from the Channel ten commentary team is that 8/164 is under par. The Hurricanes won the powerplay thanks to Doolan and Short. However, the Renegades bowled very well after that (except for one Brad Hogg over that went for 22). Dwayne Bravo’s 5/28 from 4 overs was sensational!
Finch will be the key wicket early! Will the Renegades experience and power see them home?

Small grounds two of the three games so far. Crowds always pick up after Christmas however, once kids have finished school.

Exactly right! Performance should be the only criteria for selection but unfortunately dressing room politics becomes too much of a consideration.
Would love to see Maxwell in the middle order (didn’t agree with him being dropped in the first place), but it’s hard to see him getting back. Shaun Marsh has been consistent at 5 and 6, and has struggled previously against the new ball, so can’t see him being moved to open. Also, can’t see Khawaja opening and Smith moving up to 3 because the new ball presents the best opportunity to get him out. Against the older ball he has been so prolific. The sub-continent will probably be the only place Smith will be at 3 again.
Australia well set for South Africa Test tour
