Warriors fan and it’s a no from me, though your reasons supporting Steve are well made. Above all else the new coach is on an absolute hiding to nothing with ownership and the CEO undermining any attempts to instil a demanding culture. This might be unfair but I think there are some scars at the Warriors regarding Super League imports going back to the early days of the club with Monie and some of the big money English signings of his through to Tomkins, who was horrific. To me, issues with owners and CEO aside, the new coach has to know the only way the Warriors become competitive is by developing local talent, even if that development has to occur in 1st grade. There are no quick fixes here. The two successful mini eras the club has had (01-03 and 07-11) were based on a core group of talented locally developed players and then adding some Australians (who can see the potential of the Kiwi talent) to that. Getting young &/or good Australians to move to Auckland is not going to happen in the numbers the club would need to be successful, Auckland may as well be Siberia to a player with Origin potential. I think Woolf is probably my preference but whether or not he should be keen on the Warriors is another matter entirely.
