Left the best nine in Australia to play Barbarians footy against club sides.

'Fall guy': Eddie doubles down on future, makes three changes as Wallabies sweat on RWC miracle

Sure glad we took Skelton and Tupou to the world cup.

I think Marika Koribiete would like a chat Noodles. But some of the others……. cough Vunivalu cough should not have been in France.

Revealed: Why Rugby Australia won't break the bank on Origin star, NRL chair's pot-shot at embattled code

Happy to concede that but my point stands that they are investing in the wrong areas. Apparently, Crichton was a centre at school (my bad I thought he was a loosie). Do we need one of those? Or a winger? Nope we need someone who can control a side and get them round the paddock. Not sure Gordon is it. Pretty sure Donaldson isn’t. Maybe Lynagh, surely talking to dad he would have learnt something. Loloseio is probably a bit burnt by the experience of the last two years and will do one of two things, play the house down and prove that Bernie is right and Eddie and Dave are wrong or bugger off somewhere else for the cash and to develop his game.

Besieged Wallabies throw lucrative deal at Crichton in bid to lure Roosters star back to rugby - with a Super twist

Our core problem is that we do not have world class play makers. How does signing an untested winger in Joseph Suiaali and a guy who has not played the game in 10 years who is a forward going to change that? If you are going to spend a boatload of cash can we spend it on a half or 5/8?

An accomplice as it were.

'Mockery', 'broken game', 'laughing stock': Rugby rages as red card reversal clears Owen Farrell for World Cup

I hate Horan as a commentator even more than I hated Kearns. His unabashed love for players that have not really delivered on the promise e.g. O’Connor and Petia gets right up my nose because if they are playing it is like there is nobody else on the field.
Very disappointed that STAN took him on.

'Disaster': Wallabies hammered by Boks as Eddie Jones' return falls flat

Disappointed that there was not the usual too many Brumbies taking up space in the squad for better Reds or Wilson > Valetini.

COMMENT: Eddie has made one huge gamble - and it's not the No.10 call - as he avoids ruthless Hooper decision

That’s good news Brett. In the model I have in my mind there are already 32 contracted players in each franchise (already being paid) that only a finite number are being selected for higher honours (13 worst case scenario) that they could leverage. Need some additional funding of course for travel though.

AS to building a competition structure I am sure that is not insurmountable.

Fine margins: The key ingredient Brumbies must find to take the step from semi losers to Super stars

I have suggested on a number of occasions that there is an opportunity to use the contracted players from the franchises that do not make Wallabies selection and others from their local competitions; Hospital Cup, Shute Shield and John I Dent cups to be the starting point for a third tier professional competition. They would continue to play under their current identities (Brumbies, Reds, Force etc.) allowing the current tribalism to continue. I would propose that the competition would commence two weeks after end of the Super Rugby season and that games played on a Wednesday night on a home and away basis with to prevent clashes with Rugby League (byes when State of Origin is on), Aussie Rules and Test Matches. Top two sides could then play each other in a one off or best of three finals series.

This would provide a minimum of 11 more games, more opportunities for Stan to attract additional subscribers, more opportunity for Rugby Australia to promote the sport and exposure to fringe players that are paid money to hold a tackle pad to actually playing the game at a high level. Another advantage to this is that players that do not make the Wallabies squad will be match fit when and if they are called up due to injury. Additionally, this model would allow for better and longer use of the facilities used by the franchises, allow assistant coaches to get some experience as head coaches (leaving franchise head coaches to prepare for the next season), existing franchise sponsors might also achieve more bang for their sponsorship dollars and provide non-franchise players with exposure at the highest level.

What we need to do is then get a major sponsor, I acknowledge this is a tough ask but more likely to occur if there is a product to sell to potential sponsors.

My advice Brett is to not engage with Jimbo. His rants are based on a Reds are better (when they aren’t) and a logic that says that making the finals is failure. You cannot get him to provide any evidence to support his case and when asked who he would select there are crickets and tumbleweeds. Not worth the keystrokes or the zeros and ones used to transmit the data.

Personally, I would like to see Bazball against a quality Aussie attack. I suspect it will be very hard to execute in a second innings chasing 450+. I reckon they will go into their shells pretty quickly if they are three or four down chasing not many.

Ashes Scout: Smith injury scare, England cut key bowler in final XI, Brook taunts Aussie attack

“They do when the crowd is… insipid.” the crowd was hardly “insipid” they were louder and more fired up than they have for years (I have only missed a handful of home games since the Brumbies started) and it felt like the halcyon days of the early 2000’s. Schoup was playing up to it.

The Wrap: Super Rugby’s semi-final cream rises to the top

Doctordbx, that is gold. That reminds me of the time I got carded for overuse of sarcasm. 10 puts up a midfield bomb, the opposition 15 takes it just as 105kgs of Hooter turns up at full pace and folds him in a copybook waist high tackle. Whistle goes, penalty! “What for?” I ask, “Dangerous tackle.” the ref replies. “It’s not !@#$ing netball.” I protest. Ref reaches into pocket and shows me a slice of cheese.

'I scored it, brother': Ardie chokes back tears after 'disagreeing' with ref as Brumbies deny the 'Canes again

“Tom Wright was very unsportsmanlike after scoring the last try, what a disgrace”. Yep, I was waiting for the try to be disallowed and a penalty awarded to the Hurricanes. I like Wright, I have met him a couple of times and he seems like a genuine guy, but this is the sort of behaviour that should not be part of our sport.

Rugbynutter, hard to take the ref out of the game when they are determined to insert themselves into it. This is my key criticism of Berry is that there ALWAYS is a major controversy when he has the whistle.

WEST, I agree. Ardie was all class in the interview as he was on the ground. One of my favorite players to watch.

Trog, a bit hard on Gus if that is the case.

“It would real help brumbies if an aussie ref is in charge”. Except if it is Nic Berry.

The Wrap: Super Rugby’s semi-final cream rises to the top

As many will have realised by now, I am a died in the wool Brumbies fan. Saturday was a cracker of a game of Rugby. I would have been disappointed if the final try had been awarded but I would have felt privileged to have seen a really good game live. Brutal defence, great tries, and some good player antics.

Even Nic Berry did not manage to ruin it despite his best efforts.

The Wrap: Super Rugby’s semi-final cream rises to the top

“To me the Schoup antic was a bad look. Quality props don’t do that stuff.”, Bobby, it was fantastic mate. The crowd was behind the Ponies all night, and he was just getting them fired up more. No harm, no foul.

Hurricanes got a fair lift up from James Doleman who was terrible on the night.
