Didn’t watch the game but talent doesn’t disappear overnight. He’s still coming, maybe a better deal for WCE if he has an ordinary year.

Six Points: Why Dogs' disaster isn't all Bevo's fault, Eagles on their way, and 2024's biggest beat-up

He is a gun but how soon will he re sign? From his point of view, the longer he leaves it, the better the deal.

Would Naughton be a good fit for Freo? One key forward would make a huge difference.

4/6 – missed Carlton and Bulldogs.

Footy Fix: Amazing Adelaide resurrect their season with one of the great wins... but how on earth did they pull it off?

Put you house on the Cats – they wont lose. Unfortunately, all you will get as a profit is new letterbox!

I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset tonight.
Melbourne are playing close to the best footy in the comp at the moment but if they have an off night, Brisbane will pounce.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Round 5: After a weekend of 9s, can our experts back it up?

I spat the dummy like that when we had Sandpaper gate. Swore I’d never watch another game of cricket.
I calmed down.

AFL News: 'No credibility' - Freo slam ex-ump's 'spoilt brat' whack at Clark, Dees to challenge Pickett ban

Maybe you need to do a bit more homework.
EPL competition is a full home and away season – ie every team plays the other teams twice each season (once at home and once away). Additionally, there are no finals, the team finishing on top wins the title.
Travelling around England is completely different to travelling across Australia with different time zones.
Comparisons to other sports are irrelevant.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

Steele, you’re better than that (or was it a typo).
Which 3 quarters are you talking about? 27.8% is not three quarters, nor is 22.2%.
MCG tenants
Collingwood
Richmond
Melbourne
Hawthorn
Essendon
Docklands tenants
St Kilda
Bulldogs

I get it all Ritchie and I’m over it. I don’t know why Tim decided to stir the pot (maybe I do).

I think they just don’t get it and never will.

Maybe we could have one season where Victorian teams travel interstate 10 times?
It’s a massive difference.

Whilst deserving of home GF, this wont work.
The minor premiers may not make the GF. This means the location of the GF would not be determined until the Prelim results were finalised. A week is not enough for the AFL to plan let alone a fan from a different state who wants to attend the game.
There would be no opportunity for fans to book in advance.
I went to the 2005 GF and it cost me over $10k (staying at a friends house) plus I had to take a week off work to even get flights that would get me into Victoria.
Victorians just don’t get the hassle of attending a GF in Melbourne.
As for Tim’s call that Victorian teams get no home ground advantage when playing other Victorian teams in Victoria – I am sick of hearing this pathetic excuse. It is not about the fans at the game, it’s about the travel the players have to endure.

Ban him for the rest of the season I say.

AFL investigating as Power forward admits to homophobic slur during Bombers game

Is it a heterosexual slur if I call you a married man?

AFL investigating as Power forward admits to homophobic slur during Bombers game

I think this game says more about Melbourne than Adelaide. The Dees were good against the Power last week but they were pretty ordinary last night. They missed several straight forward shots, much of their disposal was haphazard, Bailey Fritsch played one quarter, May and Oliver are clearly not fit (it astounds me that Adelaide did not try to exploit May).
Petracca is a gun and I honestly hope he or the Bont win the Brownlow this year – both champion players.

Footy Fix: One key change gave the Crows a sniff of all time comeback - so why on earth did they abandon it?

Thanks Dave, great read.
I finished high school in the 70’s so have great memories of the 1980’s (although a lot of what I was up to had nothing to do with cricket).
I’ll check out the show on Fox (assume it is therefore available on Kayo).
I remember the 7 West Aussies in the test team – wouldn’t happen these days as those pesky New South Welshpeople have a cartel going!!!
Have very fond memories of the 1989 Ashes. English press labelled it the worst Australian team ever to tour England!!

Reliving the Eighties and a great era for fast bowlers

A couple of things here Wiki.
“Dave told me the bowlers knew”
Bancroft stuffed up that interview and that has caused himself a whole lot of pain. Had he said nothing (or not done the interview), there’s a good chance he would have got another opportunity.
..they made aggressive and immediate denials. they didn’t have to do that.
I think they did. At the time, CA needed to know how deep the knowledge of the plan was.
it implies some sort of cover up. and that elite honesty Langer was complicit in it. because if “everyone knows”, then he must have known.
Lehman was the coach at the time.
Frankly, none of it makes much sense and I doubt we’ll ever know the full story.

Forgotten opener, WA veterans snubbed in central contract shake-up as CA name 23-player list

The time for proof is well past. It is now just the player’s interpretation of what happened and who knew what.
Likely/possible that Warner implied the bowlers knew. However, I think he’ll keep that to himself and leave Bancroft on the outer. The bowlers will never admit to anything – and do not need to as it’s one person’s word against the rest.
So, to determine the truth, do you take one person’s word or a collective word from 5 people?

Flynn is also a bigger loss than first appears. He was recruited as the tap ruckman to allow Bailey to be a key forward. Flynn is a better ruck than Bailey and would provide opportunities for our midfielders. Bailey as a key forward would give us the opportunity to drop Darling (which is long overdue but not realistic with current injuries to Allen and Ryan).
I called for Simmo to be sacked 2 years ago but now we need to stick with him until we are competitive again.
Comparisons with Fitzroy are stupid. They had no money and their fans deserted them. WCE still get 40,000 plus to home games and the waiting list for a full membership is not getting shorter.

Sadly, the Eagles are not tanking. We’re just terrible.

I see your Hipwood and I’ll raise you a Jack Darling.

Footy Fix: The worst grand final rematch ever just proves the Pies have slightly fewer problems than Brisbane

I rarely have a punt but $3.05 on the Premiers was irresistible.
Like all gamblers, I just wish I’d wagered more!

The selectors may still pick someone from outside of this list ahead of someone who is on the list and available.
For example, Lyon gets injured before the first test in Perth and the selectors may decide to go with Rocchiccioli ahead of Murphy. There is no automatic selection.
Neither of these guys are elite level white ball players so they are probably both best off spending some time in County cricket.
The difference is that CA can control how much Murphy is available for that (as they have done with Lyon).

Not just Cummins.
He insinuated the bowlers knew about the ball tampering.
Smith and Warner are likely to stick with the line that the bowlers didn’t know.
So, it’s Bancroft’s word against the rest.
He’s not playing for Australia in that environment.
Might as well release his book now.
