I remember the Whitelock penalty you’re referring to. I’ve maintained that the breakdown is Wayne-o’s weakest area and that was a poor decision.

If that pass had found the man then it was panic stations. But I don’t think Smith had time to work that out, pure reflex action.
But both Wayne-o and TMO were in agreement that it prevented a clean break into the red zone, hence yellow. No complaint from me.

Mark Telea might have been the missing piece, he does seem to have the knack of getting good position under contestable kicks and recovering the pill.
Looking back at the depth of some kicks, they often nullified the classic leaping catch so reduced the risk of penalty/cards. Some ball was recovered but I agree, possession wasted at times.

Stu, any Aussie rugby players can come across the ditch, sample the waters and stay awhile. Hell, they can even go on the dole if they need to.

Reiko knows how to tackle, he just struggles with working out who to tackle and by the time he does it’s sometimes too late.
I thought it was good of ALB to come out and show him how a proper centre does it.

Fair enough Moa. Fossie has every right to enjoy the most complete team performance of his tenure.

” I bet you won’t hear boo from AB supporters whinging about Barnes today.”
Really? Then you’ve never met my old man. We share the same surname as Wayne-o and by fulltime the old boy was talking about filling out a deedpoll and changing to his mum’s maiden name.

Haha, good post and you made me think of the Tex, Don & Charlie song- Harry Was A Bad Bugger.

Azzas 10 in the naughty chair straddled halftime so 25-30mins rest probably meant no ranga required.

Let them lick their wounds as they see fit. Another failure to get past the QF must be doing their heads in.
It will be interesting to see how their post WC regeneration progresses.

Fine effort from the 4 relatively inexperienced AB props.
Newell and Williams only 23, Grooter 25 and Old Man Lomax 27.
If everything goes to plan, they should be a formidable unit by the next WC.

Fair call. I thought BB’s experience came to the fore and he neither under/overplayed his hand.
Sam Cane has copped a fair bit too and was immense.

Is it kicking out of defence they’re looking at?
Ireland are such a complete side, do the reduced margins for error mean erring on the side of stats and caution. Maybe Christie gets more metres from the boot and provides better contestable kicks.
It’s a shame, would liked to have seen Roigard taking on the Irish pillar defenders. He’s been dangerous off clean and scruffy ball alike.
Haven’t been this hyped about an All Black game since the 2015 semi and did that ever deliver.

Basically the motto for the Fossie era.

REPORT: Eddie Jones to quit Wallabies and join Japan as head coach

Your first paragraph describes what I’m seeing too, WPN.
The All Blacks are now firmly in the group of cruiserweight challengers to the undisputed no.1 heavyweight team. Currently 17 in a row against all-comers, winning home and away and look at the manner in which the Irish handled their pool. All that has them in a far better space to progress to a first ever semifinal.
All Blacks, not so much. If Fiji don’t beat England, the AB beating Ireland will be the upset of the quarters.

Has Fozzie been foxing? Ireland beware, the All Blacks could be about to reignite

How about Ricky Stuart!? 😱

The Wrap: Wallabies are on their way home - can they please take the TMOs with them?

Good to see Blackadder included. Don’t know if he’s at the quoted 118kg but what I saw of him for Tasman, he’s definitely bulkier than past seasons and looks all the more imposing for it.
Even when he’s not selected, Reiko still divides opinions. I cut him some slack because, unlike all the other viable candidates for 13, Reiko has always been fit and available.
But the Irish are going to pour the heat on his uncertain defensive decision making with their short passing, multiple support runner tactics.
Great chance for Roigard to get some big minutes and show us how much he’s learned in the short time he’s had with the AB.
Congrats to Big Sam, much respect for the way he’s conducted himself in the black jersey all these years.
