what clearly works well in rugby league, for example a much higher emphasis on cardio and stamina
Offside sir…both rugby’s use the bronco test as a tester for cardio fitness with exactly the same results across the different body types and position, 4.11 being the best result for backs and 4.45 for forwards.
If league emphasised more on cardio and stamina then you’ll see light between the 2 codes.

Let's celebrate rugby for its differences: Why imitating league is not the answer

Another punch and run article about Union except this one was written back in 2010 when WR was still IRB. Must’ve used dial up to upload it to the Roar.
Fair article though, complex rules and TMO interruptions are a blight on this great game.

Rugby is losing the long-term battle: What World Rugby must learn from Australia before it's too late

Marky Mark may be regretting his decision to leave now. The basket case that was the RA may be coming to an end, finally.

Exclusive: Wallabies to turn to Kiwi Schmidt as Eddie Jones' replacement

Union girls are killing it in league. Well done Apii and Tyla.

Fern-tastic! New Zealand punish wasteful Jillaroos to hand Australia first defeat since 2016 after epic boilover

Article Summary: Eddie still talking, no one listening. Union no good, no one famous in union. Cleary will be saver for Wallabies but also pin up boy and be very famous, cost AR heaps and heaps tho. Tamika be answer for Wallaroos because she very good. League very good, Union no good.
My ratings for 2023 Season
NRL 9/10
Super Rugby – 6/10
Internationals: Leagues Pacific Champion Cup 3/10 v RWC 10/10 so far.
Its all a much of a muchness. Just enjoy it all.
BTW: Cleary- stay where you are. You’re better of in your bubble of familiarity. Leave the cauldron of chaos which is union to the born and bred union players.

Eddie Jones joked about signing Nathan Cleary - but he might be the only man who can save the Wallabies

On the shorter side. Most props are now 6’2 – 6’7. Very few under that.

NRL News: Bennett admits Dolphins have gone backwards, Haas waiting on Wallabies offer, Benji reveals Dally M pick

Eddies going through what Fozzie was going through last year. New Coach, Old team. Alignment will come.

'Look out': Eddie puts All Blacks on notice despite 'broken car' Wallabies' loss to Argentina

We play like a rugby league team playing rugby union. This worked great in the early days of professionalism, but in 2023 it is so unbelievably obsolete it’s insane
Nailed it ARF. Excellent article.

Why the Wallabies discipline is so hard to fix and you should stay on the Eddie Jones hype train a bit longer

😂 😂 😂

When rugby stopped being the game they played in heaven

I wonder who would’ve missed the cut had Blackadder been available? Akira?

Some of these selections are really mind boggling. I guess workrate and repeat efforts are down the pecking order with some of the front row and back row selections.
And how the hell do you not have Degroot, C Grace and even Big Red Tom Robinson even in the picture. Weird! Expect Cullen Grace and Tom Robinson to have blinders in the final this weekend.

ALL BLACKS SQUAD: 'He's still a project' - RTS makes cut despite doubts, Fakatava in and TJ Perenara out

Both teams are just Wow.
When on tour the men’s every so often they would blare the song Wagonwheel on the bus. I bet they gave it a good ole pounding after that win.

Aussies win in London to lead the World Series

Agree with you on most fronts. But it does go both ways. RU borrow a lot from the NRL as you’ve mentioned but RL also borrow a massive amount of Game structure and systems, S&C, Coaching, Team Culture and Player Recruitment from RU also. In particular the Storm, Panthers and Roosters. Imitation & copying goes on once’s again and so it should.

Super Rugby quarterfinals draw: Match ups, venues, times and predictions with all four games confirmed for playoffs

The C word = the N word. Refrain from using that in the future Ducky, especially around islanders. Its a sure way of receiving a bunch of 5’s.

COMPLETE SRP Round 15 teams: Blues rest stars, Hanigan starts as Tahs make five changes to pack, Wright back for Reds

Spot on Hugh

‘Absolutely nothing to worry about’: League shouldn’t fear union’s player raids

3-0 to the Wallabies. Why? Home ground, Dave Rennie smarts, Team Culture, Payback for 3-0 last time, the improvements made in Super rugby 22

Eddie Jones plays down Wallabies whitewash chances

Ah, the code that is apparently dead in Oz lives on and lands the 3rd biggest sporting event in the world, the RWC. Following immediately afterwards the RA takes a shot at the largest domestic code in Oz to convert some of their players.
Shots Fired!

'Very appealing': Why Mick O'Connor thinks fresh rugby raid makes sense, and the NRL players union should target

That’s great news but Dammit…I just settled on the sale of our house in Bris and have moved overseas. Control Z x100!!!!

YOU BEAUTY! Australia confirmed as host of 2027 and 2029 Rugby World Cups

24. Keep turning up the training no matter how crap you are. Work hard on all of the things that don’t require talent and you will eventually outlast the talented ones who think talent alone will get them through.
25. Some think Thirsty 3rds is their pinnacle – it could be yours. Embrace it and enjoy it.

Great article mate

My rugby union manifesto

RTS is looking better and better each week. BB on the other hand is proving Highlanders article yesterday right. He just needs to get back to 2nd touch attack and stop the kicking which he is not the greatest at.

REACTION: 'We turned a real corner'- Brave Force fall agonisingly short of stunning 'half-cocked' Blues

Spot on about the lack of respect for the Force at home. To add to that, the pre and post match interviews are always about how they ‘respect’ the Force.

REACTION: 'We turned a real corner'- Brave Force fall agonisingly short of stunning 'half-cocked' Blues

I’ve been on many of the international tours and believe me, most rugby countries world wide take the game very seriously.

Rugby sevens: Canada here we come

I actually thought the Rebels played better than the Brumbies tonight

REACTION: 'We lost the gain line from the start' - Rebels blown away by Crusaders' second half blitz

Good to see the League boys (RTS and Vunivalu) back. My league mates are predicting that they’ll rip up Super Rugby from this round forward now that they’ve got the hang of rahrah.
The Blues are more fluent with BB running the cutter but I suspect the Crusaders will put sustained blitz pressure on the breakdown and halfback to starve him of good quality ball. Havilli v RTS will be a good match up and a precursor for who might get the AB’s 12 spot.

Super Rugby Pacific Round 9 teams: Reds 'superstar' makes comeback, Hoops and Gordon start, RTS resumes ABs bid

Yeah it always does my head how, for a code that pride itself on elite level fitness the coaches spend most of their time coaching how to conserve energy by slowing down aspects of the game.
You are absolutely correct on the longer pass which would attract more moving parts.

Which NRL players could make the switch for the 2027 Rugby World Cup?

Yeah Muz, I think that transitioning from league to union would be easier for a lock (BThorn) than it would for any other position. But then again, locks are required to do so much more in the modern game. So many it’s a no hey.
