Is he going to play for the Wallabies or ABs? Agree he is a totally different type of player to SBW but i would argue a significant upgrade on him and Falou as well. SBW was an athletic freak, Manu is a footballer. Can already kick, run and offload and (despite what the author seems to think) is very talented in the air. I can’t speak for the ABs but if he plays for the WBs then he already in their best backs.

Hansen's done Joey Manu no favours comparing him to SBW. He'll be more like RTS - and Foz is the reason why

The best compliment I can give to this bloke is I’m glad Brisbane and Qld never have to face him again. I think he served his purpose for the Sharks and Fitzgibbon. You buy these players to create a standard not win games. So the quality of middles coming through now can point to him for their guidance. Congrats on a great career.

Not sure if you’ve noticed but not too many Qld based players in the team these days. We’ve sent them out into the NSW clubs to lift the whole standard so if Dozer wants to come home that’s all him. Su’A as well, he only played for Qld while at Souths but much like Gagai we sent down Bennett to make sure they kept up the standards required. Even Franky Molo got a Qld gig before taking up the Red V option. You lot keep this up and we’ll stop sending guys down there all together. However, you watch Kerr make his rep debut soon enough.

I can’t buy that as an excuse. 2 teams have played up there in the last few years and Brisy weather is closer to Sydney at this time of year compared to Darwin.

I was interested to Penisini v Niu last week. Both star young fellas but both seemed to have hit a development wall. No appetite for the hard yards and very basic defensive issues. Niu was called out up this way a few weeks back for registering 0 missed tackles even though his side leaked plenty. Seems not getting a hand on your opposite doesn’t count as a miss.

Mate, you should be packing his bags for him. We sent you down an origin quality player and look what you done to the poor guy. Send him back up for a 3-game tune up and you’ll get a lot more benefit.

Most decent executives have a fair narcissistic streak to make them good at what they do. That means always having a fall back/guy to point towards upon receiving those reviews. I’ve witnessed a CEO fudging Board reports survive those reviews.

If there is no amount of money that could keep Mahoney than that speaks to a culture issue for mine. Most guys are really torn to leave their debut club. I’m probably wrong but I do get a sense of a clique-type club there.

Talk to each other and tackle hard! Who would have thought? The individuals there have talent not recognised on the scoresheet for some time. So much so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Su’A find his way back into Origin. If Flanno can find a dominant prop they can be more than competitive in a short period of time.

Heroes versus villains: An NRL showdown of nice guys up against the nasty mongrels

Have to say, I think this one goes to the bad guys. Now that we’ve established that Mulitalo is not a Qlder his mouth certainly qualifies him into this team. One day his mouth will get him Dylan Walker’d.

Heroes versus villains: An NRL showdown of nice guys up against the nasty mongrels

You’ve written some good lines Mike but “Manly would have lost to literally anyone who wasn’t the Titans and the Titans should have lost by 50.” is just about the best of them.

I’m one still holding judgement on the Sharks. Yesterday was a great day for them but it was also one of the worst NQ performances since the first 20 against the Saints.

Maybe you can see more from Wests than I can right now. I see a half who is not controlling the game. Galvin should be there for moments but he was taking 5th tackle options long and short. He opened up the Panthers right side on a few occasions but then just stopped going that way. Bulla is a weapon but nothing seems to be set up for him. He gets the ball flat footed and asked to create. I bring this all back to Sezer, he has the skills and maturity but floating in/out as he sees fit.

Chevy won a few admirers on the weekend given his age but he better believe that Hynes, DCE and Burton are going to make it rain bombs in the next few weeks. Unless the pack can keep the kickers at a distance he’ll wear some more bruises in this dream to play NRL. Good luck to you son.

Five and a kick: Benji's Tigers lost to Penrith, but did they actually win in the long run?

That was my firsts time watching Galvin. He was everywhere in the first 25mins running and a good size boot. Sewer looked like the GC days where he showed up for moments but sulked away on the back of a few dud calls.

I watched that game at the pub. Every time I looked up someone was behind the posts.

This current Broncos forward pack is a long way from being the best they’ve ever had - is it the biggest?

Ironically Hetherington hits harder than all the boppers. Still not many punters talk about Jensen either. Ave 50mins he gives 135rm, 30+ tackles and rarely misses.

Manly are right up there as well for size in their starting pack but lose a bit off the bench.

Baaahahahaha, I’m the big shot am I? Coming on here taking up your mighty 15 yrs in the rough rough leagues. Enough to start calling real NRL players wimps and dogs. Your hypocrisy is fantastic. However, i really only had one point that you would be offended by words and that’s a huge tick. CAPS AWAY!! 😂

15yrs? Is that all? I had 15yrs by the time I was 20yo and you can add another 15yrs on to that and I guarantee at a much higher level than your pub comp rubbish. I don’t doubt you were bashed plenty because on one hand you want to run with this “back in my day” BS and yet whinge about a FB getting posted on a perfectly executed kick chase.

“Getting offended by words” for starters, you have no where near the intelligence to steal the quotes from informed analysts who us that term in correct context. However, I dare say you’ve knocked it off from some shock-jock, mouth on a stick from Fox news. One day try read a book without pictures, understand your history and strive for an independent thought.

Mam is a big hero? The young bloke he hit is bigger and heavier than him. 😂
Who are you to call anyone a wimp or a dog? The toughest thing you do is sit behind a keyboard calling people names – like a real hero.

Are you seriously asking to change the rule for pressuring the FB on a kick? Yet some how if it was Walsh getting bundled by Latrell I think you might be ok with that.

I tried that once but them missus promptly reminded me that all three were hers. But I certainly mumbled some stern words as I went out to the shed.

Don’t tell me Mike is finally coming around? The Broncos were saddled with “luck” last season but it is a lot more consistency in effort areas that is transferable between starters an depth players. That said, Capt Pat has been enormous in the absence of Haas. I’m assuming that was another near 200m game last night?
Really tough on the Raiders too lose Fogarty. Did Pappa play really big minutes? I thought he was huge for the Raiders in a beaten team. Can’t feel sorry for that young FB but he can take note that the very best FBs have had those nights. It wasn’t his fault the Broncos were making 50m a set to put him under that kick pressure.

Welcome Mason. Way to jump into the deep end on a topic very few agree upon. As my avatar may suggest NSW misery is one of my great delights but never let it be said I’m not here to help. 😛

Your team, Edwards deserves his shot but you don’t pick 2nd best. Turbo is your No. 1. Crichton has to be your No. 3. I love Jurbo but that levels has passed him by nor do I believe Barnett is the consistent work horse you are chasing. Murray is your Lock – has to be there. I would start Utoikamanu with Haas. Yeo off the bench as your utility. I know it’s socially unpopular and unlikely but I would even consider JDB in place of Paulo because he tackles everything and can play big minutes if required.
