Yepp you are 100% correct. As a Roosters fan I will miss SBW the same way that I’m sure the Bulldogs did, but we will survive. Somewhere there is a kid who will come into the game and he will be ten times the player Sonny is. Andrew Johns was irriplacable but the game survived. Newcastle is still there. NSW is still standing. No one player makes the game and who are we to stop them from leaving. Any kind of special payment is unfair. So is a marquee system. We have the salary cap for a reason. Stick to it or we will open a can of worms that will be too hard to close, and we will then really start to see the game collapse on itself
Dave Smith should not put a blank cheque in front of Inglis
There are plenty of big name players here playing. And when some of them leave we will find new star players to take their places. If Inglis wants to leave our game for more money and glory then let him. I hated seeing SBW go followed by Hayne, but there are always new players coming through. The next big player is yet to be discovered.

Yea exactly. I didn’t even acknowledge what he said about Pearce.
Let's hope the South Sydney incident wasn't an NRL cover-up
I am a Roosters fan. You can’t tell from my DP? You’re clearly you’re a Souths fan.
You think getting arrested for assault while drunk is fine? I bet you also think the one punch laws are ridiculous too.
They were spitting and smashed bottles. They weren’t exactly trying to clean the place up. If people were at my house doing this I would kick them out due to them trashing the place. I don’t know what’s acceptable at your home.
There is nothing wrong with getting drunk. If you do it responsible. Getting drunk at a BBQ at a mates place and listening to some music with friends if fine. Getting drunk and spitting on and assaulting people is not ok. Now getting drunk, spitting, smashing bottles and assaulting someone while you are representing Australia?? Definitely not ok. If Burgess was in Australia when this happened and he spear tackled the bouncer and the bouncer hit his head on the ground and died, Burgess would be looking at going to goal for a fair few years. I don’t want to have unpredictable drunks like him here when he is only here on a work visa.
As for Jake Friend and Nate Myles, back then I was saying the same thing. They should have gotten bigger punishments then they actually did get.
But besides all that, all I am saying is that I hope the NRL is consistent with these two and the punishments are up to the same standards as recent similar events.
Let's hope the South Sydney incident wasn't an NRL cover-up
I know he did more then just grab her bum. I am not a fan of Ferguson at all and think that his time away from the game was a really good outcome in that situation. Hopefully he has learnt from his mistakes and is committed to becoming a better human. Still, I was disappointed when I heard he was training with the Roosters.
Peace deserved his punishments as well as he embarrassed the club.
And Carney should have been booted from the NRL the moment he pissed on an unconscious man in Canberra.
I don’t disagree with these punishments at all. I just hope that the NRL stays consistent with the way it handles this whole Souths issue.
Let's hope the South Sydney incident wasn't an NRL cover-up
Mitchell Pearce had a boozy night out and lost his Origin Jersey and was suspended for a week.
Blake Ferguson grabbed a girl on the bum and was banned from the NRL for 18 months and is very lucky to be playing again.
Todd Carney pissed into his own mouth and lost his job, couldn’t be resigned by anyone and had to leave the country.
Two thugs in red and green trash a club, bash a bouncer and embarrass Australia and one loses his captaincy the other resigns with another club? What kinda garbage is this. Ban Sutton for six months and send Burgess back to England.
Let's hope the South Sydney incident wasn't an NRL cover-up
I think the thing you need to realise here is that they coaching the Roosters. Isn’t that the dream for any coach.
Establishing the NRL wooden spoon contenders
hahahahha now theres a knee jerk reaction that I’m totally on board with.
Let's be honest, the NRL pre-season sucks
Tim, if the only thing you care about is the result then why not just check the scores on your phone at half and full time. If the results the only thing that gets you off then maybe that should be the only thing that you look at.
And I believe one of the biggest drawing cards for the 9’s is that you are able to draw a fresh new crowd to the game. What happens when all the “rusted on supporters” are no longer around. League needs to evolve with the world and community to stay alive. Not just do what Tim says.
Let's be honest, the NRL pre-season sucks
I have to agree with Alex here. I think the 9’s are here to stay. At least for the rest of the decade. And I for one would be very disappointed to see them go. I looked forward to the 9’s this year after such a good tounament in 2013. I have about 30 mates come over and had the big screen and prejector set up outside. The day was great. BBQ, beers and footy that went on all day, the whole time knowing that I was going to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
I also really like seeing the mix of regular faces paired with rookies. As a Roosters fan I loved seeing Freddy back on the field to take that interception for a try. I’m only 25 and the Freddy days are just a blurry memory for this Roosters fan so that was one of the highlights of the year for me. Sure you can see what teams don’t take it too serious but that doesn’t bother me either. 9’s are a great fun concept. It’s a great day of footy, the players seem to enjoy the hell out of it and I thinkit will only become more successful as time goes on.

Hopoate sticking his finger inside other players probably would of gone off too
I really wish Twitter was around for. . .
Looking forward to seeing how Sandow stes out onto the field in Parra’s first game. I hope he looks good for Parramatta’s sake.
Off-contract Sandow sheds the bread - and the weight
I agree completely. That second game in last years origin was a disgrace. Players like Thurston and Smith and even Reynolds were being a bunch of filthy grubs and the refs let is continue on for so long.
Oh well, at least we won I guess.
NRL players must respect the men in pink
I don’t know. I kinda like the idea of the four quarters. Teams may lose momentum but players would be able to get that short break to come out harder. It works for the AFL. And we woudn’t be losing any actual game time. The NFL game time is only 60 minutes. NRL will still remain an 80 minute game. And we don’t have the stoppages that the NFL has either. The way I see it, four quarters just allows for faster games.
NRL's 100-minute revolution; Is it a good idea?
Then the Roosters must being doing quite well as they seem to be one of the most hated in the comp
The Rabbitohs are the code's favourites
And everyones second team this finals series would have to be the Panthers. Their not my second team, being a roosters supporter I’m still pretty dirty that they beat us (they deserved the win, they were the better team) but they are the under dogs this year. Everyone out west where league is the biggest will be jumping on the Panthers bandwagon.
I hope that South lose tonight and lose hard.
The Rabbitohs are the code's favourites
I’m pretty sure that Newcastle were not one of the founding three clubs. It was Easts, Souths and St George. I don’t think the Knights were founded until the late 80s? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Agreed that there are bigger rivalries, but they did break the attandance record last year in Round 26. And they might break a record again this week. Its no origin but it is massive.
Rabbitohs and Roosters: league’s greatest rivalry
True. But players like Dugan, Ferguson and Carney do make it very easy for them.
Change the role of role models in the modern game
Personally I love the idea of a draft. I enjoy watching the AFL and NFL drafts happen. I find it exciting interesting to track young players over the off season and then see where they eventually go.
Saying that however, I don’t really agree with a NRL draft. Its not the NRL style and especially with another country involved in the NRL it would make it hard too.
I think that Rookies should have a standard entry contact that they stay on for a year or two that can’t be changed or increased. That would stop richer clubs over offering and take pressure off cap space. Then if the player lives up to the hype, they can resign with bigger contracts in the couple years.
