Hi Graham. I’m not with you sorry. It should be best player regardless. ‘The team’ takes the winning trophy not ‘a player. That’s sort of where Aust lost. The two Aust player the team really relies on score more runs then any Indian player, the rest of the Aust ave to plain dull. The Indian team didn’t have a standout batsman, diff players taking the lead, digging deep when needed, a mix of ‘walls’ and ‘smasher’s’. For the Indian batsman there was two Australians doing a more. If you using ‘ I guess you would be hard pressed to make a case for any of the Indian bowlers. None of them lasted the full series and the wickets were shared among them.’ for the bowlers, you could use that for Pant, in his own team he wasn’t ever massively dominant and ahead. The team effort got them the win. Cummins was a fair way ahead of the Indian bowlers. From the stats, Cummins (and Hazel) kept Aust in the series, again the Indian bowling did a little better as a team, like the batsmen. Player of the series (like even the MoM) is not the ‘player of the winning team’ or ‘man of the winning team’.

Pat Cummins did not deserve the player of the series award

Hi Graham. I don’t know, I don’t pretend to be as smart as the selectors plus the actual Amount they ‘watch’ the players, add even ‘talking’ to the players, lol. Starc does seem to be of fire then missing, four games in four/5 weeks with not games all year is tough. If is hard to foretell how a player will go.

My Australian Test squad to face South Africa

Hi Gee. Yeah it was ordinary, the selectors and CA not just team. Lots are still comparing the team to team of the teams past. It’s not. It wasn’t Mohammad Ali against Frazier. It was more like Ali against Spinks, lol. I hope we don’t get to ALi vs Berbick, that’ll be up to CA. This has been an almost trend for even a decade, corona has made an impact also but this deeper then that.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph is a sign of the new India

Lol. Prob along same reason ICC head quarters is off in a wacky place.

Australia needs first-class cricket during the Big Bash window

I think part of the strength Australia has had since forever is they have really done the captain chop and change like other countries.

My Australian Test squad to face South Africa

Hi Waxhead. I’m with you on all but the Starc one. I think he needs to be ‘managed’. He is hot and cold sort of, not day in day out. I don’t think he should be an automatic selection, I think no they should rest him from tests, more like a baseball teams style of things. Rotation.

My Australian Test squad to face South Africa

Hi Suresh. Unlike you, I’m more I ‘hope’ Australia have it in them to bounce back rather then ‘sure’ Australia… I don’t live seeing the team through the glasses of the past great team. Now days/games can’t be judged against that time. That team had a handful of super talents and solid backup everywhere and depth in wings. Today when have a handful of super talents and ‘some’ solid backup in spots and little depth in wings (the shield is what it was). I’m only ‘hope’ cause I not ‘sure’ of CA path. In Aust’s last ‘low point’ it took years to build up, Simpson and Border had clear mindset. Langer isn’t Simpson. Not meaning to pick on Paine (I not talking tactics or skills), Paine isn’t Border. We were so lucky to have that guy. I’m unsure there is anyone of that character, what ever you call it around now that could be like that. The more every team plays each other the better the entire comp will be.

India Down Under: Rise like a phoenix

Hi Jacko. Batsmen need to ‘move’. Cant take that fear/or strength out of game. Intimidation, surviving it is part of the good batsmen. Which team first is going to stop bouncing 9/10/11? The umps just need to count them.

When are the umpires going to take control of the game?

I thought he made a game or two. But I’m shocking these days. I do remember Fenech trying. I think. Lol

The forgotten players: Balmain Tigers

Didn’t big Mal do one on him a year?

The forgotten players: Balmain Tigers

Nice idea. Not all can make the big 20/20 comps, style wise. Use all the internals skilled players to warm up out test team. Lol. I used to love the pre season league comps, some amalgamated teams, building for the premiership. I remember the WSC packer had the guys not selected playing in other teams to keep fitness up, playing games in regional places. I thought it was amazing.

Australia needs first-class cricket during the Big Bash window

Hi Jeff, I’ve thought this stuff and written of it on here. Majority of others writing about ‘Boxing Day tradition and such, it can’t be done, our summer’, not interested in the minnows only Eng and Ind. I think for the internal comp it got to be some give and take. If future tours can work itself out.

Australia needs first-class cricket during the Big Bash window

Hi Paul, you always got good thoughts and ideas. CA are the management, we the fans are the plebs. Management/politicians rarely pay attention to the plebs. Lol

Australia needs first-class cricket during the Big Bash window

Hi Jeff. Some nice stuff there. I’m not the brain, just want the organisation building strength, I like the thinking ‘outside the square’. Not sure what’s best, but just that long form needs to be better done.

Same here Jacko. The good old days of home ump’s and LBW’s

When are the umpires going to take control of the game?

The chatter as bowler coming up was wrong.

When are the umpires going to take control of the game?

I think an injured bowler, getting replaced may have helped Aust. But I still think it was Aust and the batting depth, the drop catches.

Depth issues mean few changes for South Africa tour

The behind the scenes don’t help them one inch. Indian have passed that it seems last decade or so.

No Paine, our gain

It funny people quote that Gabba thing. Most of that time we had one of the greatest teams running ever, that wasn’t the main cause? The last decade or so the Brisbane tests getting closer the during the big team period over. Plus it being the first test. The Gabba always had pretty strong home record but tourist have one there.

No Paine, our gain

I think that an interesting idea. They could bring viewers and public on if done with true fans in mind. Tv is the money, they could do games, a comp and coverage aimed at diehards (not the jokey stuff). Not sure numbers of how many players would be interested. But run some form of long cricket during the tests. Do a mercenary franchise style thing like BBL. Two or three teams. Bring in ex players or commentary to put money and thoughts where mouth is. Have a Waugh, a Warner, a Chappell as coach have them pick the team they want like at high school or a World Cup soccer bingo ball decide teams. Some people on here say the tour got CA 300 million dollars, I don’t know, some of that could make a small BBL style of long game of two teams couldn’t to it. Why it got to be state based? Just get guys playing long form.

I think he’d also do a huge dummy spit which would be back to Indian teams infighting like past.

The A to Z of the Border-Gavaskar series

I think all are good points. Are the umps sometimes nervous of saying anything against a team to possibly be in the media and crowd firing line, particularly a touring team?

When are the umpires going to take control of the game?

Hi people. Some have had those thoughts in regard to heavy weight boxing explaining the dominance of African Americans then Europeans. The patterns of decades where a ‘great white hope’ count compete, generations from tough slum life often, using that struggle to climb out. Now it the Europeans coming through. I think some of Indian population can use that, then having the massive money amounts used to build the comps/training and support.

The A to Z of the Border-Gavaskar series

I think labs had been spending time in county cricket though with selectors watching him.

Depth issues mean few changes for South Africa tour

Thanks for that info jameswm. How many games is that from?
