How much would this team cost in SuperCoach?

'They are vital': How NRL's old guard are ushering in a new generation - and winning the argument for expansion

Hi jimmmy. I remember on the rugby league digest a guest had looked at the data how it doesn’t spread equally, the bottom teams cop the brunt of it way more.

'They are vital': How NRL's old guard are ushering in a new generation - and winning the argument for expansion

Ok, as an eels supporter I have been thinking the back line aren’t first grade quality. Replacements for Moses are not a problem. It’s all something else? Talent doesn’t play a major part in the difference between premier and spoon? It’s more so mindset? With maybe a little good coaching, no injuries or suspensions. The new team didn’t struggle the second half of the season from a lack of depth?

I think the season is already shot from how it’s gone in games without Moses already played. Possibly they don’t win a game whilst he out, so they’d be too far back from the top eight and that always tough 6-7 to 12 or so on the ladder that is always very competitive and close.

NRL Power Rankings: Round 5 - Warriors prove they’re genuine contenders, Rabbitohs a rabble, Eels slip-sliding

When W.I.’s were kings, tests and odi’s had big crowds, good tough competition. Today the tests aren’t much and fan interest and money dwindled. There have been times of The Ashes not being competitive, but it still rolls on.

Very see sawing

What is a solution?

Getting value for money from stars is the biggest competitive advantage in the NRL - and the flip side can be devastating

Hi Cwizzle. I don’t think it transfers straight across comparing a ‘normal job’. These are high performance, that stuff, the mental, cohesion, team, I’d expect to hold more weight. I’m my job, I wish it was taken into account

Dragons finally letting Lomax leave - and his exit might start a feeding frenzy across the NRL

Do you think he still expect or be like to get that $800,000 at another club? I’m not sure. A struggling club may still pay that, I’d be guessing he’d be aiming at a lesser struggling club

An ICC thing would be great, but I think they’d worry about a possible ‘it’ll make our sport look bad’, though only to few. But they don’t want that. Swing, rightly or wrongly, is looked down upon, a dark art and not correct, so it isn’t giving much ‘serious study’. Talk of it is whispered. But if the law says… you don’t do it. That is where I stand. I’m not saying the team or even a bowling unit get together with the plan. I find it more possible Warner did it himself and had done for a while, on and off depending. I think a bowling team mate may have ‘suspected’, brought it up with another bowling partner, if drink enough, sort of off the cuff. Hush, hush. I’m not sure it was ever getting planned to degree of bodyline in team meetings or targeting this player this way when he comes in, or Border and ‘don’t no body talk to any of them’. It only spoken in the meeting as ‘and the ball goes to ‘x player’ then me’ -“ and not clarified why. I don’t care that only Australia did it. I thought in the past the countries of players busted was weak and they should have been harder. I think CA took this line because of the other countries and their fans view of our team, a holier then thou, superiority thing they feel (not saying they are right or wrong). CA maybe thinking they’ll lose a spot with the other two of the big three. In the end I have no problem with the ban’s and if it happened again I’d expect the same length, maybe harsher. But that’s not saying I oppose swing. lol. I’d love there to be incorporated and a sanctioned way for it. I not saying the bowling unit was in the party committee, but I do think it more possible then not they had thoughts ‘something’ had happened perviously. No there is no evidence of this player stating a conversation like this happen or footage taken. I only use before and after swing bowling comments from people like Gideon Haigh and Jarrod kimber. I have not looked at the data and footage myself. Test bowlers saying they ‘never, in any test noticed something odd in any changes occurring to the ball’ I don’t find hard to believe. But they don’t say that.

Yes. I kills me. I’m soo keen for good analysis and break down and bringing things to my attention and education. Same with the cricket. It all sound bites and confrontations with another desk member, a narration over a replay that only a standard description. It’s just tabloid

To me there are two different things. One, knew things taken in to field ‘that day’ to change condition of the ball. Yep I can see how they may not know. The second is it ‘being damaged’. It wasn’t, no one is in strife for that, so didn’t get into trouble in that test for changing the condition of the ball. So I can understand umpires not seeing any damage. Bringing them up as part of evidence I find weak. Because they do follow the ball but I’d expect the bowlers following that condition even more so. Also because of the drop off in swing world wide since, I assume tampering was common yet mostly undetected by umpires. I’d also expect a tamperer to do this in a way that was slow and gradual to not have it noticed. So wouldn’t expect umpires to notice ‘damage’. The cameramen were told to watch it because people suspected something. Was it suspected only to get ‘anything’ on them? I don’t think it a huge leap to say it had happened before and I think cricket world knew and turn a blind eye, because even their home teams were possibly doing it. The hostility and stair event upset a few people and they thought, ok then and told cameramen to watch this.

Yeah that big center group are all good days, bad days, so it can be tough as a tipper. Most all those you’d be thinking win their home game and pick up an away here and there, not have injuries (I think this has hammered eels season again). Titans I’d expect to struggle even at home most the season

The stuff that bothers with is I think it should only be the captain do those ref interactions.

Yeah, putting it to the date/test not the usual, but it sort of a modern TikTok media profile age. But I’m sure others have said things like ‘this is my last ashes’, it sort of the same. Greg C picking the tests he play and not wasn’t the best. I don’t really have a problem with any of it. I felt at the time I wanted Greg C to be more committed to the team (stupid thinking about it now), I didn’t know his life, troubles, stresses. It’s up to the selectors to go ‘hey we won’t pick him because we don’t think his dedicated enough’. I feel the same with Warner, it was the selectors who kept picking him. I’d have more thoughts of it not being right if he did the John Farnham retirement announcement. Concert announcement. Retirement concert announcement. Retirement. Retirement concert announcement. Lol
