I think being a player down for abit would have players stop whatever the issue be. Maybe ref’s are nervous about the bagging they’d get if it thought even half wrong.

Now that the dust has settled, let's talk about a few things

Sounds cool Bernie. The system has been laughable from the begining. In your example, six wickets down, who are the bat men’s coming in next? 7 to 11, not recognised ones, lol, and the have to get these often big runs per over. I don’t know the average total of batsmen 7 to 11, but I’m guessing it not that good. In a cricket team, not all batmen are created equal. I think, if there is a way, it should be taken into account. As you said ‘ remaining resources for the batting side’.

Reinventing the DLS method: Part 1

India’s not either of those teams. It’ll be dull AFL or any league comp if top of the table hardly played the bottom half.

Cricket Australia need to get the balance right

They need more then India touring this year or whoever else is flavour of the month, performing giant this era. CA need to get different formats scheduled right for viewers at decent times

Cricket Australia need to get the balance right

Jeez, you guys it wasn’t a comment about who is the best or from other years.

Six talking points from the NRL preliminary finals

I loved watching kohli bat last tour also. Ave below 50, one century, only two scores above 50. I want our bowlers holding him like that again this tour.

Cricket Australia need to get the balance right

Their chokers if they make the grand final, are in the lead near the end of the game and mess up something ‘everyday’ type thing for them, letting the team come through. Just making the final and not winning it isn’t choking

Storm trounce Raiders to book grand final berth

Now not taking into account wicketkeeping skills, which of the players we have at the moment available have batting averages on par with De Kock, Watling, Pant, Rahim? Which ones around buttoer’s early 30’s?

Can India take down the Aussies with Steve Smith and David Warner involved?

I don’t know about ‘myth’, not seen data showing enough money for the number of Sydney teams. In 1986 ken arthurson proposed 4-5 teams in Sydney, two in Brisbane. In 1992 the NSWRL and ARL were part of the ‘Bradley report’ which said 5 Sydney teams. Id be guessing but both these would have come from not enough money/population to support the number if Sydney teams

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

Hi Brian. Ok, which wicketkeepers you want to compare him with then and we’ll go from there. It’s a few years old, but it may help a little.

Can India take down the Aussies with Steve Smith and David Warner involved?

Hi max. I remember ‘trying’ to read those court record at the time, it was a blur to me. Lol. That Justice Burchett was a big ‘what if’. Humphrey’s was talking to many Sydney clubs in the 70’s. What if he’d have moved for it back then? Humphrey’s would have just been facing Arko troubles he was having with the jets, kicked west’s out, west’s got back in, tried to kick west’s out again, told west to spread to cambelltown (didn’t they?).

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

Hi Tim, doing good work there. Thanks for it. I got a few other jobs for you. Lol. Write one about SL not happening and what the possible ARL would look like now, their trajectory pre-SL, where ARL’s game was heading and their idea’s. Then one if SL won and what life for us viewers would be like ‘possibly’ now. For starters in 2020 even without COVID, I don’t think there is a ‘Beijing Panda’s’ in our SL comp. lol

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

I would like it so those big beasts atill have a part, rotate them from bench for impact. But I think the game better having a wider range of size player and positions. I live watching those players and I think it better for the sport if you can involve those people built that size, you could lose them to another sport. I think that a shame. AFL to me has a variety of size, basketball don’t, soccer a sort of mix, cricket. I think it makes the sport stronger for participation.

The Knights' top targets should they offload Mitchell Pearce

Hi Barry, the options do seem bare, not sure of talent coming through lower grades, but it been bare for awhile to me. The new speed of the game will change it I think, in a few more seasons, more of the smaller build guys being able to make more of a mark and impression and it could all filter through to first grade maybe. Not just those bigger build halfbacks, but the smaller/faster fit style built half back. Leading to more talent option What do you think?

The Knights' top targets should they offload Mitchell Pearce

Hi joe, it seems a few coaches love pushing that sort of thing, ‘they are all against us!’. I guess that a psychological thing to build with you and your team. Him, Bennett, des does, Bellamy a bit. Maybe the coach’s of struggling teams got to give this a try

Ricky Stuart fires up at the Queensland government before preliminary final

Spot on TJ. Replace a guy that you think is doing average with someone the facts show are doing average in n the lower grade in batting and keeping.

Can India take down the Aussies with Steve Smith and David Warner involved?

Interesting. Healy’s ave was about 27 I think. Sure there are freaks like Gilchrist and de Villiers and comparing today’s wicket keepers batting averages to Healy or Dujon could be said times have changed and wicket keepers have to perform more. I not convinced of any of state wicketkeepers screaming out. The team is still doing not to bad with wins.

Can India take down the Aussies with Steve Smith and David Warner involved?

Hi TJ. The last tour their awesome bowling and deep batting lineup beat us but it wasn’t a walk over. We have two of our big names back who didn’t play last time. Maybe Warner has past it, maybe he’ll be strong for awhile longer while at home, maybe not. but smith is smith and Marcus hitting it also. Those three have to play so far below their current form or home ave. ‘The ‘super’ India bowlers have to bowl even better then usual to stifle those three. You can only play who’s in front of you and it in the records they won, but it like Trevor Berbick waving and bragging he beat Mohammad Ali. Well you did buddy, but let’s take a look…

Can India take down the Aussies with Steve Smith and David Warner involved?

Hi DP, that to me is the same as culling. The next thing you know you could have three teams all next door to each other and a large region not covered.

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

Hi KenW, not meaning to be rude. But why do you wish they didn’t merge? Just for the original ‘dragons’ team idea or you think it has been worse since, run worse, worse results?

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

Hi Roty. Did you go for raiders before the war?

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

What if no teams faced the chopping block? Because SL went in wanting a lower number team comp then the ARL having a dozen Sydney teams was never part of it. SL wanted the Sydney teams to have ‘shared’, so I guessing they Redraw the entire Sydney area. have the Sydney teams play in a state comp and be a feeder and play to represent the new Sydney area team area your in. The ARL was always looking to cull the Sydney teams, SL interrupted that. Once the war was on ARL didn’t want to upset any more fans so it was not talked about and swept under carpet indefinitely. To me neither comp was going to run, from 1995 to now with 20 teams. What if the Magpies didn’t make it to 1999? Teams merging or not making the cut, if it west’s, Balmain, dragons, Steelers, a south east qld team, was ARL intended plan. The creation of NRL and war ending was chance to merge and cull. The ARL was created to do this. What if the Warriors were expelled for going broke? To me this was an area that weakened the ARL and let in SL. Removing teams from one city locations, or putting that in a new comp contract, freaked the broncos out. I’d rather the league help out those teams then the squished struggling city teams (even my eels). Dozens and dozens of ‘what if’s’, from either side or things they coulda/shoulda been done in retrospect. The 2 real/biggest ‘what if’ would have to be (1) what if ‘a’ super league idea never started, where would the ARL comp be? (2). ‘What if’ super league had won outright, where would that comp be? With both those I think an automatic question should be – how long till the comp recovers, fans hurt, good sponsor numbers and $ coming in? Two decades? It would be interesting to see data. Stats to do with lose of fans, interest and money to comp from jets removal, even west’s in early 80’s, north’s and the mergers. Lots of it is guessing and disgruntled fans leaving cause they don’t have a team, fans changing to a newly made team, some staying cause they love ‘the game’. I would love to know the ARL and Arko’s actually plans and steps pre SL, surely it was documented in their hush hush meetings.

Super League revisited: The final what ifs

Hi andrew, I’m with you. Easts did mostly great against the bottom 8, ok against teams in the bottom of the top eight and less ok against top four teams. They got talked up, maybe based on the previous seasons and not on this seasons. They ran into a teams that just got beat by one right down the bottom, surely Bennett then gave them one hell of a speech after that lose and look at south’s now. Maybe Easts, like my eels as people say this year, are just ‘pretenders’.

Roosters flew in to Bermuda Triangle against Souths and never re-emerged

Hi Renato, yep those first three guys all in another stratosphere, last two greats. So tough to play against a couple of them together.
