Accurate rankings Paul, I reckon you’ve nailed it.

On Manly, they do lack an enforcer. I thought Nathan Brown was great against the Roosters, rattling JWH a coupe of times. But not so much yesterday. Manly definitely lack another middle but do have Lodge and Sipley to return. Neither are world beaters although I thought Lodge was great for us before he did his ACL.

Mind boggling WB

Too much to Bear: Danger signs emerge as Rabbitohs start to unravel after years of near-misses

Must admit when I saw Sean Keppie starting in the front row I breathed a little easier before Vegas. The Souths pack has certainly dropped a peg or two.

Throw in the mess of Campbell Graham not getting surgery until the end of the pre-season and you have to wonder what is going on at the club. But don’t worry Souths fans you’ll still sit around 5th on the Power Rankings….

It’s not ideal Nat. Although Paulo played Rd 1 so presumably he’s a top 2 winger in Seibold’s eyes. It was Talau who came into replace Saab, who will now be replaced by Vaega.

I’m not sure Talau is a speedster given his inability to keep up with Koula in that first set yesterday. But, yeah, you aren’t getting pace from Vaega. Some upside with his tough carries though.

If another one goes down I’d say they’ll bring in Brad Parker, and shift Koula (or Garrick) to the wing.

'I haven’t seen him like this': Why Croker is backing Turbo to top 2021 - by getting out of his way

A massive assumption being made here, Stuart, is that fans are rational. They are not.

Irrespective of the system spine players will always dominate. Much like quarterbacks dominate the MVP awards in the NFL. Mid- fielders dominate the Brownlow.

Those positions will continue to be front and centre at voting time, as they handle the ball more than others.

I don’t think adding an expensive, complicated, convoluted system inviting 1000s of people to vote each game, will change that.

Haven’t they already said the Warriors are definite starters next year. Plus the Panthers very likely too.

They plan on giving all clubs an opportunity. But they are also committed to selling an exciting product. Some clubs just won’t cut it.

It was a pretty free flowing game, and with 60 points scored I don’t think either coach will be happy with their defensive record.

Happy with the win WB, but geez the Saab injury took a bit of shine off it.

For “6 Agains” I prefer to use Foxsports stats. The NRL tend to award them and then not record them.

Final number was 4-1 to Souths.

Come on man. I can’t believe this is actually a story.

Any other player and you’d be saying the same.

Manly star in strife over 'accidentally' liking racially charged Latrell social media post: 'Not intentional at all'

I’m not so sure if it’s a case of Aloiai being well regarded, or if there’s simply nobody else. I think he can do an ok job if he cuts out the brain fades.

An option that could become available if Nathan Brown’s reported elite training and hunger/attitude comes to the fore, would be to switch Jurbo up front and have Brown play in the 13. Brown, if he can control his aggression, does have a bit of lunatic about him that could give the pack a bit of an edge.

'We’re hoping to put on a 2021-like display': Manly stars looking to go back to the future under Seibold

Yeah mate the prop rotation is a concern. I really rate Paseka. But he’s a little bit on his Pat Malone in terms of quality. Lodge back in Rd 7 (hopefully earlier) will help.

'We’re hoping to put on a 2021-like display': Manly stars looking to go back to the future under Seibold

Odd decision not to opt for surgery back in September. It clearly wasn’t a minor issue.

Double blow for Bunnies star out SIX months on sidelines after surgery blow and another leaving for Super League

Schuster was pretty good in the backrow in 2021. On the cusp of Origin. So there’s no reason he can’t get back to that level. The onus is on him.

It’s a far less complicated role for him playing on an edge, rather than being a 6.

'We don’t want to do what everyone else does': How 'live attack' became Manly's mantra for 2024

Interesting hearing Jaxson Paulo, who’s consistently been the fastest at previous clubs, comment on the speed at Manly. Saab, Koula, Garrick, Turbo, even Brooks.

Will also be nice to have a second kicking option in Brooks. Manly struggled last year in that department, way too much reliance on DCE.

'We don’t want to do what everyone else does': How 'live attack' became Manly's mantra for 2024

In 35 years of watching the game I don’t think I’ve ever heard any coach outline in detail exactly how they will improve in defence.

Outside of continuity, making your tackles stick, working hard for your inside man etc, what exactly is he meant to outline in a press conference? It’s just repetition and working for your mates.

But I definitely agree they need to be a 100 point better team in D. If they are then they are at the Broncos level. But still 100 points shy of the Panthers. They are simply exceptional.

That’s actually the line I laughed the most at. The constant sledging between father, son & uncle is great. Never take yourself too seriously.

'To my family, get f--ked': Cooper Johns quits the NRL to take up a surprising new job

Classic farewell post, loved it! Probably a good move. He definitely got more of his father’s larrikin personality, over his footballing ability. Still, he was good enough to make the NRL which is more than most. Best of luck to him, his Dad has certainly shown you can make waaaaaaay more post footy in the media.

'To my family, get f--ked': Cooper Johns quits the NRL to take up a surprising new job

Yeah agree Busty I thought Lawton was off to the London Broncos with Nathan Brown taking his spot in the 30.

This is the 30 I’ve seen:
Josh Aloiai, Jake Arthur, Luke Brooks, Nathan Brown, Ethan Bullemor, Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Daly Cherry-Evans, Ben Condon, Lachlan Croker, Zac Fulton, Reuben Garrick, Jamie Humphreys, Tolutau Koula, Matt Lodge, Haumole Olakau’atu, Brad Parker, Taniela Paseka, Jaxson Paulo, Jason Saab, Josh Schuster, Toafofoa Sipley, Tommy Talau, Ben Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Tom Trbojevic, Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega, Christian Tuipulotu, Corey Waddell.

So much speed in the backline in 2024. Id personally run with Paulo over Tuipulotu. It’s a well balanced squad, lacking one more quality big man. Hopefully Lodge returns reasonably quickly. And fires.
