Here are some question I hope the upcoming NRL season will answer. How will the Storm fare in the post-Cameron Smith era? Albeit not…
What I meant by resilience is they’re a tough side who stay in games, even though they haven’t had the strongest side in recent years. They didn’t break in matches like the Broncos did in 2020 and I think this gives Barrett a lot to work with.
I agree on Flanagan – however I do believe Barrett can get the best out of him.
Can see your point on the Warriors – I like their side but they may struggle to get into the 8.
Five questions ahead of the NRL season
I agree – he’s a natural full back and plays out the back of shape better than most number 1’s in the game. If he can develop combinations with Flanagan and whoever plays 6, he could have a massive impact on the season.
Five questions ahead of the NRL season
Fair comment – seeing the work he did this year with Cleary/Luai and hearing how past players speak of him is probably why I have a big rap on him. You’re right however, it will be interesting to see how he steps up from an assistant role and if he can have more success than he did at Manly. Players seem to want to play for him – I don’t think Canterbury would have signed the Foxx without Barrett, so clearly players are impressed.
Five questions ahead of the NRL season
I completely agree – some massive questions for the new coaches this season.
Payten may have the biggest job of all – the Cowboys have a decent squad but have massively underperformed in recent years. I really liked the way he had the Warriors playing and I think he could get Morgan/Holmes playing their best footy.
