ok, thanks for the clarification, website transfermarkt, said only attack, looks like it could be an exciting attack for the Roar, however, I thought Taggart was going to be the striker they were looking for which he was for parts, but largely was a failure as he didn’t stay, I’ve always liked Brisbane’s intent and game style over the years, hoping they have a rise

Will Fowler have Brisbane roaring this season?

Probably one thing I didn’t mention in my article is that I think he can be a centre back, my only trouble was the only placed that mentioned that was Wikipedia and other sources said he only played in the attacking part of the field, is there any confirmation that he can play the CB role?

Will Fowler have Brisbane roaring this season?

Same here, although there were some bad losses last year, there was some positives in seeing new young talent on show at Brisbane, DWH obviously the stand out but others like Powell also seemed very good and like future Brisbane starting players

Will Fowler have Brisbane roaring this season?

Agree looking at the list I think they’ve got 1 or 2 spots left, one being an import spot, not sure how having youth players effects squad lists my understanding was maximum 23 player squad but with youth players this number is generally much bigger

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

Totally agree with you, but a new coach might lead to a style which is a bit different, who knows we might no longer see the classic isaias boot it down to the end of field straight from kick off haha. While I don’t think at this point that we’re going to struggle, I think we can’t get an idea of the hole isaias has left and whether it’s been filled or not til season starts and after for some getting our first view of Adelaide playing A-League opposition on Tuesday

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

First of all, I do respect your opinion, you’re clearly a frustrated United supporter, you wouldn’t be the only one out there
Maria does replace Galloway at full back, but is able and capable of playing on the left wing if needed, not a direct replacement but can play there.
McGree actually cost the club more in the region of 900k € to 1 million€. Transfrmarket reports his value at 1million. https://www.transfermarkt.com/riley-mcgree/profil/spieler/428061
His fee from United to Club Brugge when we first sold him was 100K
In terms of Isaias, massive lost, but from what I’ve heard Verbeek is much more attacking, perhaps playing McGree as a CAM with two CM in Boland, Konstandopolous, and Lia will work and a cdm isn’t what’s needed, Verbeek and the players have said that there is a more focus on an attacking style. Lia while ageing is a good veteran and midfielder and probably doesn’t get a lot of credit that he deserves. Have to give Boland a chance and a full year. Was at the Perth game where he got injured, was very bad tackle on him and you could tell that he was finished for a very long period on the sidelines. While Konstandopolous is a very capable midfielder and if he takes his chances could be a potential star red player.
While Goodwin, I think his void could be filled by the current squad we have, Kitto is capable scoring 6+, Halloren can and even Mileusnic and if Ospeth can be the striker we finally have searched for I think we’ve got a good attacking options. Even Blackwood can score a fair few if he takes his chances and becomes a bit more clinical. Don’t forget McGree who scored 7 for City last year.
Just remember, the club is in China recruiting a Chinese player at the moment, could be that player to fill Isaias, or even a defensive position.
Also on the comment about reagan, injuries did strike last year, Elsey had a foot injury in the latter part of the year, and Marrone filled this role brilliantly. I think we need another centre back but I think Marrone can fill this role, so its not totally alarm bells if it happens

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

Not sure they have too many left but are supposedly bringing in a Chinese player, Djite in China at the moment working this through

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

Was a good win, considering the heat, thought the midfield played well, defence was shaky at rare moments in second half but Maty Ryan made a couple of excellent saves. Jeggo looked good along with Borello. Two for the future I reckon. Would have been good to see Adam Taggart score but had a good game overall. More goals also would have been nice but 3-0 away to Kuwait is very good. Hopefully can get some more wins and a higher goal difference in the Nepal and Chinese Taipei games next month.

Aaron Mooy cruises as Socceroos smash Kuwait 3-0

Brilliant goalkeeper, has saved us in many games

Mat Ryan stands tall to ensure Socceroos leave Kuwait with a clean sheet

Agree with u mate, Toure has looked good in the cup, and youngsters like Brook, D’Arrigo and Armiento all look good, many of United’s current players came through the youth system, Strain, Marrone, Izzo and Kitto to name a few

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

Also on Craig Goodwin, the Reds have signed striker Kristian Ospeth, now I do not know whether he will light the league on fire but he could be the striker that the Reds need, if he gets his game going he could score and fill the 10 goals that was left by Goodwin
Also, I’d give Mirko Boland a chance, missed most of the year due to injury, injured his hamstring v Perth in a horrible tackle, give him a full pre season, and season and I think he might surprise a few

Why Adelaide United will struggle this year

yes agree with you there, but i believe McGree will add a new attacking element to the midfield, could see them playing McGree and Konstandopoulos as sort of attacking midfielders and Boland as more of a holding midfielder, yes Regan they haven’t replaced but I believe Jakobsen and Elsey are a solid partnership but need one extra for back up

A-League 2019-20 preview: Can Adelaide United take the next step?

On the wingers could play mileusnic or halloren on opposite wing as inverted wingers but this wouldn’t be my preference

A-League 2019-20 preview: Can Adelaide United take the next step?

Yeah I too believe marone was great in cb in the latter half of the year but has been played in right back so far and does make me wonder whether anothe centre back even a young one from the youth side would be good

A-League 2019-20 preview: Can Adelaide United take the next step?

agree with you there mate, massive red fan, have been since I was 9, although Kurz was a favourite with the coach looks like the owners have got what they want now in terms of the football department, they’ve brought in a Dutch Coach in Verbeek, and they have brought in Bruce Djite as football director which I really love, not just because of his love for the club but how serious he is taking the job and how much contact and information he is giving with the fans unlike past football directors,

don’t think McGree will directly replace Isaias, but I think he will add a different element, in particular an attacking element, that in my view will bring new life into the Reds midfield and hopefully more goals, Goody will be hard to replace, but players like Halloran are very capable of scoring, and I believe he could reach 7 or more goals, same with Mileusnic,

Im really happy with where the club is heading, hopefully we continue our cup run and carry that to the A-League season, I know I am looking forward to being at Hindmarsh next Tuesday to see the first glimpses of live action football from the Reds

A-League 2019-20 preview: Can Adelaide United take the next step?

Agree with you Franko, Ospeth looks like a decent striker, but so did Guardiola, and Thomassen from their highlight reels, has been unfortunate that Cavucevic (2018) and Diawara were hampered by injuries as they were good when they played

Brook and D’Arrigo are looking good in youth and young soceroos games, same with Pacifique, hoping that Toure continues his run into the A-League season

and thanks for the feedback too mate, as just a young and relatively new writer I try to work out what will get people to read my articles so thankyou for your point on titles to attract readers

What it looks like when the VAR works for football

Thanks for the reply mate, First of all sorry for making this reply long, second I get your point mate, and I will just say my original title was change a lot as were parts of this article, obviously it isn’t Adelaide Reds its Adelaide United,
My point wasn’t about whether it was or wasn’t a pen, it was about how it played out, as you said it looked like a dive I probably beg to differ based off the fact that Im a huge reds supporter however looking at replays Im not surprised when people said it looked soft
Obviously its split a fair bit on whether it was a pen or not, my article was about how Elder chose to check at the next stoppage to check his decision because his first thought was penalty based off his reaction I saw at the game, if he gave a penalty and VAR said it wasn’t then Wanderers wouldn’t have had that chance, i was impressed about how he (the ref) managed the situation considering how it was a 50/50 challenge and how I think of all the possible alternatives that could of happened,

What it looks like when the VAR works for football

I think the reason why warriors didn’t get picked is that I heard that North Geelong Warriors which I believe is an State League 2 side (please correct me if Im wrong) had a problem with it and the fact that the West Melbourne team will play their first seasons in geelong. Not 100% sure but I read that somewhere on the internet.

Geelong Advertiser had this stated (I can’t access full article due to needing to pay a subscription to access it)
“NORTH Geelong Warriors legend Josip Skoko has defended his club’s decision to protect its nickname from incoming A-League franchise Western Melbourne. The NPL2 club filed a trademark application with IP Australia on Monday, four days after Western Melbourne…”

Western United take first steps towards becoming a real club, but questions remain

yeah i do agree with you, but I’m saying i think it could make it more entertaining/watchable some recently retired legends did play,

AFLX is a misguided waste of resources

also last night on the draft I heard something about Nick Riewoldt wanting to be picked by cousin Jack but couldn’t, whether that was true or was a joke I think it could be better and possibly a bit entertaining and watchable if it did have some past legends of the game, such as Riewoldt and others like Stevie J, Sam Mitchell, Dane Swan, Pavlich,

AFLX is a misguided waste of resources

while I didn’t mind AFL X last year, didn’t love it or hate it, I do think it will be good to watch some of the best talent play together on the same teams. Though for me and I am sure for many others I’d rather watch a state of origin match, either a small series or Victoria v Dream Team like in 2008. Though on a good note for the ‘series’ apparently depending on what place the teams come, they win a prize money which goes to their chosen charity.

AFLX is a misguided waste of resources

Ah, gotcha mate after I questioned what u meant saw Anons comment below and saw the logo and kinda guessed
Tho did thought for a minute that I might of written something ona different page, all good

Crows to give Walker a co-captain in 2019

sorry a bit confused, how did I contradict my first comment?

Crows to give Walker a co-captain in 2019

without Mitchell unfortunately I don’t see them doing as well, but they might slip into the 8 if they play well, feel sorry for Mitchell, a great player who we will miss watching next year, and also the tough decision of who to make by dream team captain 🙂
