I like sports, especially Rugby League.

True mate, will be a tough game but Souths are not traveling as well as many think. Big effort last week against the Broncos, emotion around GI retiring, might be getting complacent, time for an ambush.

Cowboys are only a shandy away

Big Asiata key as Cowboys defeat Titans

Mate I’ve already enjoyed a few today and will continue to do so.

Cowboys are only a shandy away

To be fair Brimson was their best player so it’s probably the best thing that could of happened to the Titans that he played close to the full game.

Cowboys are only a shandy away

I say it every week and it’s so true, just a shandy away.

Cowboys are only a shandy away

Thanks Moose, hope the injury goes well we need you back out there mate.

Neil Henry? Structures? I don’t think so. Disagree on Kahu, he’s bringing the ball back like kamikaze Hunt used to, also chimed in the attack nicely. 2 try assists for Kahu at center in 4 games is also above many other centers in the NRL. Ball movement was faster than previous weeks but still clunky, I noticed Morgan bobble the pill a few times. Had my heart in my mouth. Granville finally showed some more from dummy half and we used some ruck plays. Once the timing of the passes returns, look out.

Phenomenal signing what an athlete. Will bring much needed aggression to a quality forward pack. The Cowboys have lacked an enforcer since the Sims brothers left, this is a great move.

Reports: McGuire set for immediate Cowboys move

In Union the ball is in play for about 30-35 minutes, for a standard league game it’s 50. That suggests to me Union players are kicking the ball out of play a lot more.

What can rugby league learn from rugby union?

Wrong.

What can rugby league learn from rugby union?

Yes I agree with that too.

Australian rugby must innovate or perish

Size doesn’t matter, sounds like a bad joke. Size has a place and I think the Wallabies pack has demonstrated that they need a bit more.

Pocock: Size doesn't matter for Wallabies

Hi Cole, nice article. It’s a more realistic aim than those proffered in The Weapon’s article. Similar, but more achievable. I like your ideas. The short term objective is to try and win games, why not learn how to do that from guys who know nothing else?

Rugby Union can take a lot from League. I’d love to see the ARU try to do more of this. Most of all, I just want to see the Wallabies be great again.

The ratings for test matches have been solid of late, averaging around 700,000 from the last 10 tests. If the NRL promoted them properly they could crack 1 million. The domestic schedule is grueling, but many jobs are. Hopefully the code changes its outlook on test matches and stops using it as an excuse.

How accurate are the RLIF's international rankings?

Wow that’s an interesting pick. He has definitely been the most consistent back of the past two tests, but the best in the world? Not sure. Most improved maybe.

And Rugby isn’t a game built around territory and possession? Rugby is more reliant on kicking for territory than League is.

What can rugby league learn from rugby union?

Hopefully there is close to 35,000 at Elland Road on the weekend. The Anfield crowd of 25,000 was about 5000 more than I expected which was good. That’s still a sold out Galpharm/Dairy Farmers Stadium which is pretty good for a league test.

But therein lies the issue.

Promotion is definitely an issue, Origin hype and advertisements are everywhere around June-July but you’ll be hard pressed to find decent efforts for internationals.

The NRL should devote some resources to addressing this. With the power of internet/social media, even a small amount of capital can really create an effective campaign.

Maybe, I dunno, playing more matches in genuine series against England, Tonga and NZ will help foster a rivalry? That would be a good start NRL.

What can rugby league learn from rugby union?

The greatest travesty is that the Kangaroos play so few matches against England. I’d love to see that reversed.

The English team and supporters are discovering something not seen in many years, confidence.

It would be fantastic to see Aus play 3 tests against the Lions next summer.

That’s true Adam, it really is a fine line. I think we can both agree that the coach left the changes too late last year.

If things start poorly this season, there will be no reason to dawdle. Or like you wrote in your piece, Green will be under serious pressure.

2019: A new dawn for Cowboys fans

Maybe left of field for Green, but we’ll see. I can see the merit to it.

That’s a good point Speep. The players definitely looked sluggish, perhaps this was due to a large workload over the previous two years.

I wouldn’t like to hear it used as an excuse but mental and physical fatigue do take a toll, that’s why I like the Cowboys recruiting a high performance manager from the Freemantle Dockers.

2019: A new dawn for Cowboys fans

I am looking forward to it as well Big J.

I think the storm will sink a bit, probably finish between 5-6th, although with Smith (both Cam and Brandon) I can still see them making the top 4.

2019: A new dawn for Cowboys fans

I have to appreciate the production Adam and clearly Lowe’s is lacking. I could go either way on his selection but agree, based on those numbers, the team will lose nothing by picking Wright or Dunn.

2019: A new dawn for Cowboys fans

Probably worth the risk, will bring media attention and hopefully some decent form.

Dragons look at Hayne for 2019 NRL: Report

This is a left of field team that I think would be interesting to see in action, should the Cowboys start poorly in 2019:

1. Barba
2. Feldt
3. Tuala
4. Opacic
5. MacDonald
6. Clifford
7. Morgan
8. Jensen
9. Granville
10. McLean
11. Cooper
12. Dunn
13. Taumaolo

14. Baptiste
15. Scott
16. Hess
17. Bolton/Molo

Jensen is a better lateral defender than Scott and would help tighten up the middle early on. Scott and Hess keep the momentum going through the middle of the game. Dunn switches to Lock when Hess comes on and then gets substituted for JT13 with 20 to go.
