It seems our tips will be similar, IAP. Weirdly, Essendon has more runs on the board than the 2nd placed Pies.

The Roar’s AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 16

It’s Richmond then the rest of the pack, Roger. That is clear as day.

A nuclear Round 15 throws the AFL season into glorious chaos

Save your breath for cooling your porridge. What kind of person is so traumatised by an article topic that they feel compelled to insult both the author and the editors? Click elsewhere you nuff.

AFL State of Origin set to make comeback

I like the idea of spreading a State of Origin series throughout a 17-game AFL season.

It’d look something like this:

VIC v SA
R1-5
SA v WA
R6-11
WA v VIC
R11-17
AFL FINALS
SOO FINALS

Would definitely support a “tier 2” State of Origin too, to be played between QLD, NSW & Tasmania.

AFL State of Origin set to make comeback

How many chances does this franchise need? No one wants to play there. No one will want to play there anytime soon. They won’t experience success anytime soon. Time for the AFL to cut their losses on the Gold Coast and focus on revamping Brisbane into a semi-competent club.

Can the Suns shine between a rock and a hard place?

Laughable comment Swannies

Halfway through the AFL season, only three teams are in contention

North still aren’t getting the respect they deserve. They’ll make the top 4 by continuing to play the high pressure, team-orientated footy that they’ve been playing all year. Unfazed by their opposition or which ground they’re playing on; there’s something special brewing at Arden St.

Halfway through the AFL season, only three teams are in contention

I think Swannies is taking the piss mate. Particularly as over the past couple of years footy has shown to us the fairy tales that can occur.

What we know for certain halfway through the 2018 AFL season

Carlton on a Friday night… I recommend watching Evil Genius on Netflix about the collar bomber in the States for those looking for an alternative source of entertainment.

Sydney vs Carlton: Friday Night Forecast

He wants to remove or reduce the interchange now as well. Heard him talking on a podcast recently (can’t remember which one) and was amused to hear his current thoughts… he forgot to mention how much he pushed for it in the first place.

What an absolute God though.

Coaching titan Kevin Sheedy declared AFL Legend

Nail on the head, Col. Ridiculous decision by the AFL I have nothing else to add I just wanted to get around you.

Collingwood vs Western Bulldogs: Friday Night Forecast

Bulldogs, Richmond, West Coast…

I wouldn’t worry too much if I was a North fan.

Right now, North Melbourne are no closer to their next AFL premiership

Interesting Perry. I bet Michito’s time back at the club on Saturday nights while playing at Heatherton was “eye-opening” to say the least.

Perhaps Japan wasn’t a waste of time but it’s still hardly been worthwhile in my opinion. With respect, you’re kidding yourself if you want to play up the (current) existence of AFL outside of Aus. I understand the concept of “baby-steps” but I don’t even agree that we should be learning to walk in these other countries. Let’s look after and make the game great for the existing fans, who the game can’t survive without, rather than go fishing for someone from overseas to play Divi 3 in the Southern footy league.

Nevertheless thanks for the little history lesson – actually quite interesting stuff, just doesn’t quite change my mind on the topic.

What happened? AFL Round 9

If Clarko was to leave it surely would’ve been at the end of last season. It feels as though he has embarked upon a fresh journey this year.

Ducks, drakes and Hawks: What's Alastair Clarkson's next move?

BigAl, it’s the AFL via Port Adelaide. Obviously both want the China game but it’s essentially the AFL trying to tap into another market.

What happened? AFL Round 9

Why are they playing for premiership points in China? Do the Chinese really care if 4 points are up for grabs or not? Do the Chinese know where these teams are on the ladder? Do the Chinese care? If the AFL really wants to play in China then plonk any two teams over there in January and let them play an exhibition game. Put on a dumb show with fireworks, cheerleaders and freebies and suck them in that way. Or don’t… simly because it’s not going to work in the foreseeable future.

What happened? AFL Round 9

Carlton have a handful of players who “could” be elite. Some probably will be, some probably won’t be. Their list is the worst in the AFL, and it only has more potential than St Kilda’s. So much work to do (not saying it won’t get done). It’s also going to be so difficult to attract any quality players from other clubs when they’re not winning games of footy. Personally don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A frank assessment of where Carlton are at

Basketball/soccer (etc) are international sports. Aussie rules isn’t. China is a dead-end.

Nine hot takes from AFL Round 9

Cat, to be fair to the Crows they have had a few not even play this year (Brad Crouch & Brodie Smith) and ongoing issues with many of their top players (Tex, Lynch, Matt Crouch, Sloane).

The Roar’s AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 9

I’m looking forward to North v GWS even more than WCE hosting Richmond. For me, there’s nothing more enticing than a historical battler of a club whose strengths are teamwork, effort and camaraderie pitted against a club that has been gifted countless luxuries and seems to predominantly rely on their god-given talent. To make things even better it’s being played in Tasmania. North by 2 goals.

The Roar’s AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 9

It’s because Essendon create the ideas (Sheedy is an Essendon employee and negotiates this in with the AFL) and have a large fanbase that can draw a strong crowd to the MCG.

It’s also annoying how only Port Adelaide and Adelaide get to play in the Showdown! Give someone else a go!!!!

2018 AFL season: Round 9 preview

There is a short-term solution: develop/recruit a couple of inside mids and update the game-plan. They have enough quality to rebound quickly in 2019 if they can get that right.

Why have the Bombers gone backwards in 2018?

It was interesting hearing Sheedy’s comments that Essendon simply need more time to play as a team together. He was relaxed and unsurprised. Not sure if I agree with him, but it’s tough arguing against Sheeds. One thing is certain, we are all caught up in a hyper-reactive, week-to-week world of footy. Fans of both clubs should reserve judgement until the midway point of the season at the very least.

Free advice for Essendon and St Kilda: Don't lose your heads

I find Brad to be brilliant. What the Scott brothers have done with their respective lists is brilliant. Both top coaches who are very underrated.

Is Brad Scott the AFL's true coaching genius?

Cat, where you joked about having zones, in the perfect world that I believe it would be great. Imagine making Geelong even more Geelongy. It’d bring back the proper sense of “tribalism” that is so addictive to sports fans. As it stands, so many residents of Melbourne support clubs that they live nowhere near. I for one support a club on the other side of town. I’ve only ever been there three or four times in my 26 years. This also ties into the generic home stadiums of Etihad and the MCG but that’s a conversation for another time.
