Salman Khan does not generate enough goodwill as IOA’s brand ambassador

The Olympics are not the IPL. And you seem to have missed the tone of my article. The moving of the matches is beside the point. That’s tokenism at best. But the BCCI ought to have been more sensitive to the plight of farmers and public perception of the IPL as an extravaganza mostly enjoyed by the well-off.
Shifting of IPL matches a pyrrhic victory for Latur farmers
That’s enough. Your comment has very little to do with my article. I’d rather not continue this discussion.

While I’m not an expert on the drought in Maharashtra and I don’t pretend to be interested in Indian politics, here’s an interesting article that might answer your comment on sugarcane factories in Maharashtra.
In Fact: Why sugarcane can’t be blamed for Marathwada drought woes
Shifting of IPL matches a pyrrhic victory for Latur farmers
The point of the article was to show that the drought-hit farmers were easily forgotten and their concerns shoved aside. The suit against the BCCI brought their needs into national consciousness with the issue being debated on national TV. Where is that focus now that the verdict has been delivered? They’ll probably be forgotten in another week.

Camo, Thank you for your comment.
The whole Harsha Bhogle versus Gideon Haigh episode seems to have slipped my memory.
I had to Google it to get re-updated.

Is Harsha Bhogle the right fit for the IPL?
A humorous take on the whole episode:
Marlon Samuels: What he said, really meant and definitely didn’t
In knocking Warne, Samuels shows his double standards
Agreed. The quotes are a bit overdone. At the same time, I didn’t feel qualified to write about an American’s take on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I wanted my readers to understand that not all Americans support the war on terror without any reservations.
Isn't sports reduced to jingoism when it's considered patriotic to win?
Thank you. You’re very perceptive.

Hingis has it right when she says that in her heyday, women’s tennis was much more competitive. But at the same time, that’s hardly Serena’s fault!
Raymond Moore's comments were sexist and moronic - but is he wrong?
I think it’s not a question of whether woman can play five sets or not. If women can run marathons, they can surely play five sets. Who’s going to watch them play five sets, though? If the level of tennis is high, sure, but five sets of error-strewn play whether its a men’s or woman’s game, is a downer.

Accountability for these kind of remarks differs from country to country. Tarpsichev continues , while Moore is forced to resign.

When I say ‘indefensible’, I mean there was no way Ray Moore could get away with them without an apology.
Raymond Moore's comments were sexist and moronic - but is he wrong?
The men playing just three sets at the Slams would leave the spectators feeling short-changed. Reducing Grand Slams to three sets for men would establish a new era, much like the Open Era did.

Let’s get this straight. Raymond Moore’s comments were indefensible. Period. End of story.

The Roar’s hardly the place to expect instances of investigative and/or narrative journalism, is it?
The Shane Warne story template for modern journalists
I guess the question really is is whether Warne would have become a better role-model had he been made skipper instead of Waugh. I somehow doubt that. That’s a big if and there can be no clear-cut answers. Michael Clarke made a good job of it but he had no real challengers for the position. Was the Warne who skippered RR the same care-a-damn player who turned out in Aussie colours?
Why best friends don't make the best teammates
I think it could well be Murray versus Djokovic in the final with Murray the victor. Come on, the guy deserves a third Slam! And I wouldn’t write off Nadal so easily against anyone at Paris. He can definitely pull off one upset, if not two!
