tbh … ill probably try and attend that World Cup. I do have an ambition to make a world cup before i turn 30. Likewise for a superbowl, wimbledon final, and a number of other culturally significant events(for other countries of course).

The original article was heavily edited (though editors disagree with me on this). I orginally wrote it using the words ‘soccer’ and upon editing this was changed to ‘football’. All my references to football were changed to ‘AFL’.
In all the editing made it a confusing mess.
I commented on how the editing had effected the article and it was taken down with an email sent to me offering for me to send the original for reposting.
In the repost i edited it, and changed the ‘soccer’ to association football, and world game.
However the heading remained when the article was put back up … perhaps it has something to do with the server software.

I completely agree that some of the renovations and contructions will go ahead. However not all the stadiums will be updated.
I also agree that football fills the stadiums. And a World Cup would have filled them with international visitors as well.
The AFL has growing aspirations to grow the game overseas. However it is mostly people with no connection to the AFL growing football internationally at the moment. The NFL has already had world exposure through Hollywood. Football is still a mystery to much of the world.

You state that womens soccer is the fastest growing team sport on the planet. That does still not mean that many people officially involved in soccer can not see the unwarranted pressure being placed on Qatar.
The East v West type of thinking can still be applied in this context. There is evidently a clash of cultures occuring in which the western ones do not want to compromise.
My argument is NOT that a global game cannot be inclusive. I am simply pointing out one of many flaws that soccer people such as yourself like to overlook.

FIFA states that soccer began in China.
The AFL states that football began in Indigenous Australia.

Adrian Musolino would have to be one of my favourite jounrnalists to read on all the newspapers. I very rarely agree with his opinion but his pieces are always intriguing to read.
Perhaps instead of putting me down you could suggest improvements. And by improvements i do not mean introducing Chinese style media censorship.

It is called Association Football.
Just as football is officially known as Australian Football.
FIFA is french Fédération Internationale de Football Association, which roughly translates as the International Federation of Association Football.

Please dont ignore WA, SA, NT, and TAS they do have a say in our constitution, so i suspect that they should also come into discussions on sport.
It is very clear that this website is based in Sydney.
I know many soccer fans (who only follow soccer) from sydney and they think that people who insist on calling the sport football are arrogant pr@$ks.
