That completes the action from the athletics track today. It was an incredible day, with Usain Bolt completing his Triple-Triple and America claiming the women’s 4×100 relay. Australia’s Alana Boyd finished fourth in the women’s pole vault and the Australians ran admirably in the women’s 5000m final.
There is just one more day of events inside the Olympic Stadium and it is a big day. Tomorrow will see Ryan Gregson in the men’s 1500m final, the final of the women’s 800m and Mo Farah in the 5000m final. Additionally, the men’s and women’s 4×400 finals will round out the program. Australia qualified in eighth position for the women’s event.

With the pole vault now complete, it’s time for the final event of the day, the men’s 4×100 relay. The men are on the track. Usain Bolt will run fourth for Jamaica, as will Andre de Grasse for Canada. American Justin Gatlin will run the second leg for USA, with Trayvon Bromell running the fourth leg.

That could not have been closer. Morris looked to have cleared the bar, but her knee clipped it on the way up, it wobbled around and eventually tumbled to the floor.

Stefanidi has just missed her third attempt at 4.90. She had the height but knocked the bar off on her way down. Should Morris clear this, she will win gold, miss and she wins silver.

Both Morris and Stefanidi have missed on their first two attempts of 4.90. If they both fail to clear this height, Stefanidi will in on a countback.

Unfortunately it was not to be for Boyd, she aborted her jump halfway through the jump. Boyd will finish in fourth place, just shy of a medal. McCartney wins the bronze and the bar will go up as Stefanidi and Morris enter a battle for gold.

In breaking news, America has been disqualified from the men’s relay for a lane violation at the final changeover. Trinidad and Tobago, who finished in 7th place, have also been disqualified for the same indiscretion. Canada has now moved up into 3rd place.
