Which, is still a bettable possibility.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Bravado and bluster can't hide another Saints season pissed down the drain

Has anyone barracked for the Saints for 125 years? Surely that would be enough to bury you.

The Saints are a stodgy side, unattractive to watch, but do show heart from time to time, enough to make me think sometimes they are going places. But I wonder if they really are.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Bravado and bluster can't hide another Saints season pissed down the drain

That’s an interesting comparison with the 73 Prelim. A minor historical correction, Neil Balme was BOG that day with his combativeness and several goals. Hart contributed little in actual fact, but his entry into the game at half time did broadly correlate with the turnaround, for which there were signs end Q2. Richmond in 73 were coming off an embarrassing GF loss the prev year. Balme again was front and centre the following week, he manhandled the Blues, and Sheedy kicked the Tige’s 1st 3 goals.

Six Points: Crows can't hide from racism any longer, and no need to panic, Blues fans... yet

Lloyd knew how good Ian was. He learnt some lessons. Ian loved his spinners, too, it wasn’t all speedsters in his day by any stretch. Great skipper, turned Oz cricket around in quick time.

Khawaja's perfectly cheeky Chappelli comeback after being labelled a 'good player against mediocre bowling'

As an old fan of Chapelli, flaws and all, I’m not having it. Khawaja is the type to wilt under pressure, Chapelli is correct. He needs a backbone.

I reckon this article is pretty poor, with due respect. And I agree with nearly all of it. Except the premise that you can cut out and ignore the most significant event in the man’s footy career when talking about his footy career. It’s dishonest, though I’m sure it comes with best intentions. And it doesn’t serve Goode’s interests either.

Goodes might be top 10 player I have seen, and I have been paying attention since the early days of Alex Jezza, Sam Kekka, Rolls Royce, Ian Stewart etc. That’s how very good Goodes was, in fact, despite the props, still heavily under rated. He was a rare phenomenon.

But footy was just the setting of the most significant event of Goode’s footy career. Ignoring is looking the other way, and looking the other way is cowardly.

There was a suggestion Goodes is keeping to himself, like a “good” boy. I laughed out loud. He is most certainly not.

Thinking about Goodes

Interesting article, raises lots of questions.

What about skill measurements, handeye, reflex, dexterity, lateral movement, balance etc. The inclusion of basketball is suggested.

Longevity: which codes promote it better, and which destroy it? Longevity and health / fitness are related.

Which football code has the fittest players in terms of strength, speed and aerobic fitness?

Gee wizz I’ve been misled. I thought the peezzie’s role was to master rhetoric, set up fake internal reviews, miscommunicate-lie to players, avoid contract commitments, mismanage process, replace quality employees with mates, and master phrases like ontherightrack, headingintherightdirection, contributetolocalcommunity, inthebestinterestsof.

Where the hell have I been? Did I miss the memo? Do I need to look at myself in the mirror? Do I need some more feedback?

The tyranny of the commentator who calls their own game

Round 1 comrade. Round 1.

Collingwood breaking

What a time to
be a Boomer Tiger fan, witnessing a second great era. This one can be better than the previous 4 in 8 year arrogant despised flag winners. This current group though is doing it with Haight Ashbury style love and joy, but they need one more to be compared. The selected team looks magnificent, Blues less so, the only thing that will stop them is complacency.

A Warning: Who else recalls Round 1 1970, Tiges unfurling the flag in front of the Queen, only to be run over in the second half by Fitzroy after an interminably long half time break when Lizzy messed with our focus. Can Blues do a Roys? Anything is possible.

Richmond vs Carlton: Can the Blues break their Tiger hoodoo?

Saints Giants and Pies Dogs look like interesting games and may give some insight to their 2021 fortunes.

Saints are getting broad support to contend this year, yeah, why not, finals last year and a fast improving youngish team with scoring power. Plus their coach, he is very very good this time round. Giants seem to be on the other trajectory. Saints for me, better coached.

Pies Dogs – the latter get a lot of good press, I’m not convinced, I reckon they are flaky. Pies will fancy themselves, backs to wall, lots to prove, I reckon they will surprise.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 1

Not a pies fan, but saw a lot of them in 70s. I would make room in starting line up for W.Richardson, gun, over Price. Price to McKenna was a catch cry, but I reckon Wayne was more prolific in his Macca connection. And what about Twiggy Dunne? He was a fantastic mobile tall fella, extremely under rated. Put him in several different possies depending on game circumstance.

The greatest Magpies of the last 50 years

Anything to keep the MIGHTY TIGES off the page.

If you can’t beat ’em, cancel ’em.

The top ten Collingwood fictions going around

This is very bad news for the rest of the comp. Pies may start getting professional.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire to step down

What a frickin club!

AFL top 100: Richmond's games and goals

Good that Noble knows what he wants and will not be distracted from it. North need such singular focus.

North Melbourne settle on new head coach

Come on now. It’s getting repetitive, and indulgent. How about a moratorium on Pies articles until Clown Ed is replaced.

Why Collingwood supporter frustration needs to be taken seriously

Clearly CFC’s strategy has been to take the media attention away from RFC for their glorious 3 in 4. Well done Pies, mission accomplished.

At least until the double Flag unfurling in early 2021 (hopefully).

Collingwood: More spin than Shane Warne

The Brothers Karamazov.
Lengthy.
Well worth it.
If RFCs 67 flag belongs in that dynasty, 08 does too for Hawks, therefore, Hawks win this debate.

Everything elese is (interesting) minutiae.

What is the AFL's greatest modern dynasty?

Clearly Richmond.
Because Richmond.
And Richmond.

Uhumm.

Hollow Collingwood celebrations show where we truly stand

Most folk picking the form side. Fair enough, why wouldn’t you. If this becone predominant across the media, Tiges will benefit.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Grand final

Massive conflict of interest. Good call. Out.

Silvagni blasts "amateur" Blues over his exit

I have no idea how the game pans out, that won’t stop me having shot though.

Have a feeling it will be a Cats blow out or a Tiges slim win. Scott will not enter the game with the same plan as last time so forget that game as an indicator of what will happen this time. Scott will rearrange the forward line in some way to throw out richmond’s defensive structure. Expect an interesting change up from the Cats. It will then depend upon how well tiges adjust to a fresh situation.

Mid battle will also be interesting. Can they maintain recent cp gains? If not, their forward line will need to be pristine like it was last 3 months of 2019.

All in all, I reckon Cats will win it due to more upside on the unpredictable dynamics they can bring.

This really means the biggest match up will be Scott versus Dimma, and how well Dimma can be ready or not for the unexpected.

2020 AFL grand final: The ultimate preview

Good to know other folk rate Cotchin highly. He is the bellwether. Best RFC captain since Captain Blood. Hodge the very best skipper I’ve seen, Voss and Sell close 2nd. So an excellent call on the skippers while most others focus on the guns.

Geelong's recent record against Richmond is poor, so how can they turn it around on Saturday?
