He might put players welfare before journalists feelings but he puts his own welfare before all else. He wrote a book called ‘Man in the Mirror’. You should read it sometime. In his own words he describes himself as one of the most selfish people to walk the earth. I wonder sometimes if he ever regrets writing that book where he states the only person that matters is the man in the Mirror. If anyone thinks he signed Roberts to help the player or his club forget it. It’s all about his own ego to prove he could it and in retribution for his former club writing ‘sacked by the Broncos’ on his resume.

Wayne Bennett lied to us, signed James Roberts and then got pants'd by the Eels on Friday night

What was he doing at the casino anyway. In full training and on the road to redemption – a very unforgiving road. Perhaps the reason for the altercation. It’s been a game of snakes and ladders for Ben – too many snakes I’m afraid. Goodnight Irene.

Cowboys sack Ben Barba for 'significant' breach of contract

Interesting to note the “phenoms” to whom you refer are all Queenslanders. Indeed when Queensland is strong so is the National team. But I agree Mighty Mal has always got home on Hagan’s, and to a lesser extent Henry’s back. Those phenoms will also haunt Walters and Bellamy.

Meninga begins new role as rugby league coach

You make little sense.

Who are the NRL's biggest premiership pretenders?

You see in he old days at Lang Park when Dad and I sat in the outer and watched North’s beating Valleys and Fonda scoring in the corner and Henry Alberts awarded the try we were happy. If he said ‘no try’ we booed and got over it. That sort of stuff doesn’t happen now because of the media, not the ref’s who remain and will remain shell shocked it is media and their never ending video footage condeming almost every referee decision, right or wrong, in attempting to outdo the ratings of all their compatriots. Of course the on field referee was the only chap not to see this ubiquitous, continuous replay after replay to see if the ball actually touched the white blade of grass meaning a try was scored or a green blade of grass to say not so. Enter the remote set of eyeballs to allow the on field adjudicators extend their wisdom. Enter the bunker, controlled by humans in order to eliminate human error by – yes you guessed it – introducing more humans. So I f Henry said it was a try it was a try and if I said it wasn’t he would say read about it in tomorrow’s paper. The media has created a rod for rugby leagues back and the bunker isn’t going to help only amplify the situation. I wouldn’t be an NRL referee for all the rice in China any time soon, they cannot win.

Let's all just take a minute to remember life before The Bunker

If/when he is selected for NSW I will look forward to a similar article from you.

Matt Lodge: Take your second chance and 'pay up'

+1
Well said. I have read most of the articles regarding this player and consider a case of sour grapes due to his loss from southern clubs and the fact the Broncos have chosen to give him another chance.

It will be interesting to read those same writers opinions if or when he is selected to play for NSW.

Matt Lodge: Take your second chance and 'pay up'

Broncs recruitment for this year is good enough to get them into the eight, maybe the four, and anyone thinking otherwise needs a second look. A premiership this year though is another story but if we make the four, injury free, anything can happen.

Don’t underestimate the need to recruit for backup players during origin and to control those resources in order to hold onto our up and comers. Both are most important and I personally prefer to see the club keeping the likes of Carrigan, Fifita, Haas and others, then going out and buying a Pearce.

It’s all well and good for the haters saying we have a ‘one team town advantage’ however we can’t keep all the potentially good ones and some will invariably slip through the process. Just imagine if we could recall all the players in other clubs that we had nurtured through to NRL status – that would be fun. This so called advantage (including TPA,S) couldn’t help Bennett keep Hunt, Moga, Ese or Arrow – players he publicly espoused he didn’t want to lose.

Any recruitment can never be perfect or as simple as going out and buying a halfback to win a premiership.

Can’t wait for the season to begin and if our recruitment officers have covered our bench, origin period and injury’s than we’ll be up there with the best of them.

Wayne Bennett has stuffed Brisbane for 2018

And Bellamy.

Success is in the DNA of the Brisbane Broncos

Yes agreed, obviously cocked up big time and paid a hefty price. But tell me what did he achieve?

Success is in the DNA of the Brisbane Broncos

Refer to Grobelaar above – what TPA success do you refer too I wonder!
The ones that kept Hunt from going to the Dragons or Ese and Moga to the Knights or perhaps Arrow to the Titans. To mention a few. With all due respect. When talking about accuracy please be a bit more accurate.

And the ‘one town advantage’?

KV while your talking about Newcastle’s case, promising players and poaching of the clubs young players – tell me about Ponga. Promising young player the Cowboys were nurturing when bingo, out of the blue Newcastle offers a huge amount of money solely on promise that you can’t blame the young bloke for grabbing with both hands. Swings and roundabouts mate. The increase in the cap was designed to give the players some more money and they deserve all they can get but loyalty is thrown out the window and club culture will suffer as a consequence. Do you really think Hunt wanted to leave the Broncos or Pearce the Roosters. Newcastle as a club have to be vary careful in the manner they treat their young guns in regard to all your imports. Titans have gone down this very same track and ended up a train disaster. Interesting to see new coach Garth has made a statement he is going to work in his own backyard with local product. Comes down to creating culture and importing a multitude of players won’t cut the mustard as they have found out. That said I wish Browny and the supporters all the best for 2018, if any coach deserves a bit of luck it’s NB.

The ugly contradiction in Newcastle's fairy tale

We need bigger forwards and a consistent halfback.

Brisbane Broncos 2017 season review

Thank God his girlfriend doesn’t work in Brisbane.

Then again…………………

The Roosters seeking salary cap exemption on salaries

Spot on Suechi.
My thoughts entirely. Hence the call to Ferguson who would have thought he was up for selection.

Sam Thaiday just following the trends

Yes the Storm appeared to save their best for last. Looked fresher, Cowboys looked tired twenty minutes in. Not taking anything away from Melbourne but finishing minor premiers does come with real advantages – home games mean no travel and week off helps the bumps and bruises. Cowboys from eighth had to do it all and were always going to do it tough tonight. Don’t think any of the other teams would done much better with what Melbourne bought to the paddock tonight. Well done Storm and good luck Cows for next year.

NRL grand final 2017 final score: Storm slam Cowboys in emphatic fashion

Cowboys have just found out how NSW feels after playing QLD.

NRL grand final 2017 final score: Storm slam Cowboys in emphatic fashion

Momentum is huge at any time but in a finals series culminating in a grand final is everything a coach
can hope for. As Geoff f BS said – with plenty of self belief- added to this recipe it’s a promoters dream.
Storm remain the ones to beat and the Cows are the ones with all the go forward to do it.
The manner in which they removed both Parramatta and Eastern Suburbs from this years finals should
not be taken lightly. I’m sure Craig Bellamy and his generals will have a second look at their game plan
for next Sunday after North Queenslands outstanding effort.
May the best team win.

Only 28k at the game so your right – not much of the city revolving.

Can you believe it? Cowboys in the grand final after scalping Sydney!

Whew! Thank the heavens for that one hey.

Storm through to grand final after belting Brisbane

Yes the Storm supporters are to be congratulated.
Gold Coast would be envious. As would most of the Sydney clubs.
Obviously having a successful club helps but we can’t lose site of the fact it’s an NRL club in AFL country.
Can remember the start when they were only getting 5 or 6k.
Yes the Storm are very professional both on and off the field even my team the Broncos should take note.

Speaking of the Broncos it now appears the team Bennett inherited was better than the one he created.
Last night they were completely lost in attack.
Can’t understand why he bought an injured Boyd back on for the last 10 minutes unless it was his last game for the
club and I don’t think Arrow got a game.

Hunt will wake up this morning knowing next year he will be playing somewhere he’s got to play rather than where he
wants to play.

The Club will be coming to terms with losing at least six of last nights players and possibly their assistant
coach to the Titans.

The Bronco haters will be out in force today but when it’s all said and done it really does make a mockery of one team
Town monopoly.
Either that or those in charge don’t know how to take advantage.
The loss of Ese Ese, our best forward, is amazing.

Good luck Storm and go the Cowboys.

Storm through to grand final after belting Brisbane

Kaufusi maybe should have been picked ahead of Glasby for the Maroons this year.

Certainty next year if he keeps his form.

Fatty a Broncos cheerleader!

I think not.

Hates the Broncos with the best of them. Remember when he wanted to play for Brisbane at the end of his Manly career and was rejected.

Hasn’t forgotten apparently.

So we should support the Roosters just because they're from Sydney? I think not!
