Brett Geeves is a former cricketer who played 41 first class games for Tasmania and for Australia in the one day arena. His sports passions extend beyond cricket with a keen interest in AFL, golf and basketball, in particular. Brett started blogging while still playing, and since retirement has worked as a columnist and commentator for the ABC, Inside Cricket magazine, Fox Sports and Australian Golf Digest, among others. He lives in Hobart, plays golf off scratch and gets more pleasure from BBQ Samboys than any sport.

Ginnivan's gravy train of freebies is rightly lurching to a halt now everyone has wised up to his ruse
The beauty of this platform, Handles, is that if you want to sensibly explore the issues, you are welcome to do so.
The Roar gang will run it.
I started this piece with a kid fake peeing his pants so he could get out of school.. safe to say that sensible exploring is not for me.

An attention grabbing article!!?! Sounds like I’ve hit the mark. Thanks Pete

Those photos are poorly placed. They’re two
seperate trades!!
GWS receive: Dusty
Rich receive: Hopper, Aleer and Hill
Hope this helps
Dusty to Sydney, Tex to Port - How a mid-season trade period could spice up the AFL and 12 moves we'd love to see
Ha. Come on Uncle Col!! I was trying to give the Swans a little love. They know footy!!
The academy system is excellent now that there is a level of equality across the comp. Every club has a patch to work in.. if Callum Mills2.0 pops up at Frankston South Maccas, then the Saints get benefit of cashing in a bunch of dirty picks to get their cream. Doggies benefited.
But that wasn’t the case in 2015/2016… and that’s the point for every supporter of a club that isn’t Sydney. Jealous and bitter? Sure. All in the name of equality.
Just sucks we have to side with Eddie !!
See you at Xmas x
BRETT GEEVES: Are the Swans still 'cheating with that bloody academy' - or time to cut them a break?
Hey Paul – seems you missed this par:
Keep in mind too, that in 2016, the Next Gen Academies had been implemented, but had not reached a full 12 months for potential draft benefit/equality, meaning the concept of zones and academies were in place to support the expansion clubs Gold Coast/GWS, with Sydney and Brisbane reaping reward too as battle grounds against NRL talent for the growth of the game.

Warner’s brother took to Twitter when Mickey Arthur was sacked and called him the escapegoat.. pretty obscure, sorry!!
BRETT GEEVES: Marnus, Smith schtick is infuriating and must be countered by impactful verbals
It’s true. I have to take ownership of that!!

Oh yeah!! I love Kane Cornes.
Thanks, Don Freo

Fair call given how I painted picture of loving own pain. Although, sadist still works – you ever bowled the ball and left a seam mark on the inside of a thigh? Broken someone’s hand with a missile bumper? That is straight pleasure.
What I love most about your comment is you’ve shown yourself to be a cult-leader-in-waiting.

What is this Cricket thing?
BRETT GEEVES: Forget AFL's latest tease, only the map of Tassie will excite us now
North have negligible debt… now!! The Tassie deal has saved them. Hawks were the same.
Any Vic club who chooses the joint venture scenario of moving to Tasmania does so because they can no longer afford to compete against the other 9 Vic clubs for membership/crowds etc
Re state colours and jumper design? The map!!. We’ve been hanging out for decades desperate for representation. If the AFL wants buy in for a standalone team, they roll the team out in that kit. Tassies team.
They couldn’t produce the jumpers fast enough. Sold out in the pre-sale. It’s the sure fire way of immediate membership and buy in.

Thanks Dingo – Great to be part of the debate!!

The difference can simply be summed up by the fact that if the opposition players stepped back from the tackle at the last second Selwood would burst through or get the handball away, Ginnivan would fall to the ground.
This is perfect, Macca. Have we been too harsh on Selwood?
BRETT GEEVES: What's the ducking difference between Joel Selwood and Jack Ginnivan?
