Lets promote the Young Socceroos attack, midfield and wing backs with a Schwarzer in goal and Neil/Spira and the Og Monster in front of him. That is a side that should be able to attack all day and do it with flair and conviction.

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

Well said mate! We aren’t being critical of the NT for the hell of it, what they played was uncultured and aggresive football. Saying that Spain is an example of perfect football is so far off the mark it isn’t funny, I hope never to see Australia dish up their brand of anti football any time soon – almost as bad as watching a team park the bus and play 1-9-0-1.

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

One of my 2 favorite shows 😀

Local derby displays A-League in all its finery

I don’t think we did that delibrately though – they just lost the plot against us 😉

I know one thing, the Commonwelath Games has seriously impacted on my crime drama viewing!

Sadly we got left with the workman like Garcia adding effectively nothing to the game 🙁

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

Yes he does, he only accepted the Macedonia call up (and he never actually went) because Pim said to him via the national press that he would never call him up and if he wanted to play international football to play for Macedonia.

Socceroos stun Paraguay with enterprising play

Holman first 45 minutes & Cahill second?

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

Exactly, this technical nievity better be confined to this sort of game or we will be mercilessly exposed by teams able to employ a high press successfully.

Well said, sadly you have left me nothing to add 🙁

Very true, what I would like is as was mentioned on the other thread some regeneration in the senior team – frankly Oar & Leckie with Kewell in the middle and Macca up front would be a very good front 4. Have Cullina and the flavour of the month as the holding midfield with a back four of Wilkshire, Spira, Og Monster and Carney (Og Monster would help cover Carney’s defensive frailties nicely) and we would give the Asian Cup a great shake!

Yes please 😉

edit to add: Spain still played negetive football at the World Cup!

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

Thats because some people have to make/take things personal/ly. Keep talking sense mate, it’s all you can do!

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

Well I am not very keen on the hoof it to Kennedy approach – would much prefer to see Macca up front (which is a massive backfip from me – maybe I should go into politics?), and I do agree that if we totally regenerated the side then this style of play would be successful. The problem is we are not going to regenerate the side going into the Asian Cup, and I want to win it!

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

I vote no for a return to the days of ‘attacking’ football meaning: Hoof it up the park! Get rid of it quick! Pass it! Pass it! Lump it to the tall! Get stuck in!

We are past the old English style of play, hell England are well and truely past the old English style of play! I want to win the Asian Cup, not get owned by the strongly pressing, highly technical game that many of our Asian opponents play – and owned we will get if we play like that.

Man we have strange people analysing the game, I sincerely hope this is not the dross that the Socceroos are going to dish up on a regular basis under Holger – am I the only one who thinks a repeat of the Frank Farina era is a bad idea? Under Pim we controlled games (other than against Germany at the WC) by retaining the ball and through patient build ups with a few fastish breaks. It appears that under Holger we are going to rush the ball into the opposition box at the first opportunity when it may have been better to be a little patient.

Basically if we try and play like this game in a tournament we will get owned, if we go to the Asian Cup with a similar game plan we will get ripped apart by most of the other teams – especially a team like South Korea who will press us high up the park. A bowl shaped midfield when we have no blisteringly fast players to launch a counter attack is insane, I would much prefer us to play a diamond midfield or to start playing 4-2-3-1 again.

What did we learn from Paraguay friendly?

It is truely bizare that it isn’t broadcast on something like ABC2 or one of the other digital channels (like SevenMate or one of the 3 duplicate channel 10/One channels) considering it is played in a fully compliant stadium and the game is almost always a cracker. It is pretty disapointing that the rest of Australia couldn’t tune in to watch the only true current sporting dynasty in Dentral Districts romp in to their 10th title in 11 years – and I am not even a fan of them, bloody South Adelaide are just bloody useless – thats what you get for being called the Panthers I guess.

Second tier Grand Final crowds impressive

I find it quite strange that you view the AFL as being a superior comp to the SANFL, but that is my bias speaking 😉

Needs more chicken with soy & ginger 😉

Melbourne derby is not just another game

Unfortunately it isn’t between AUFC & BR, but I reckon both these teams will be up for it – being in a packed out stadium should get the adrenalin pumping and game going 😀

Melbourne derby is not just another game

Yep, we should find out how badly today. Though it would be fair to say he got a fair assist on that hammy by Jamo, the bad tempered little so and so.

There's much to like about A-League's top six

Signed in now, will see how long it lasts for – for some reason the cookies for this site don’t last…

edit to say: can’t find the thumbs up thumbs down, wasn’t it on the right hand side of their post before?

Now that is an awesome idea – will pass it over to AUFC 😀

Where will the A-League fans come from?

MacDonald has had his chance I think.

Burns is going to play as the number 10!

We could see an all out pace front 5 at some point in this game – now wouldn’t that be sweet, a 5 man fast counter from the Socceroos =)~

Socceroos begin new era against Slovenia

I would like to see Sasa in the squad and Luca$h dropped. Of course that will probably never happen.
