The not-so-traditional pathway of the Rookie Draft: Top 10 stars who have used this route to success in the past decade

We’ll never really know.

'The level of delusion is something else': Eddie McGuire's defence of his disastrous coaching succession plan is ridiculous

I think Buckley wanted the players to do what he wanted and to be as good as he was, but without much compassion – he couldn’t see that it wasn’t working.

My first thought was drugs and suicidal state of mind?

Mystery 'medical episode' lands Oliver in hospital as Demons investigate

I have never believed that Bucks would make a good coach, in fact it’s rare that top players make good coaches.
I’ve seen it many times over my 67 years of following footy and it never ceases to astound me that clubs continue to think this way.
I also believe that the 2011 Collingwood team was the best I have ever seen. (I’m a life-long Magpie supporter)
I never liked Eddie from the beginning, he suffered from the old foot and mouth disease.

No it isn’t. The main reason I disliked Covid shutdowns was because games were taken from Victoria to Brisbane!
And as for moving the Grand Final to nightime, forget it, it will never fly, even with the money hungry AFL wanting it to be.

AFL Grand Final day is much more than just the game - why change something so important to our sporting culture?

IMO you have marked yourself too leniently this year.

AFL Oracle revisited: Grading my pre-season predictions for 2023

They won’t feature at the pointy end of the season next year either!

TOM MORRIS: A very early AFL pressure gauge for 2024 - which team has 'no excuses' not to lift?

Yes, I think he has mellowed from fig jam into a fine wine.

TOM MORRIS: A very early AFL pressure gauge for 2024 - which team has 'no excuses' not to lift?

Not long after Collingwood gave Grundy the mega deal, his form dropped off a cliff. I knew that it was a mistake right from the start.
Thankfully the person responsible for this blunder is no longer at the club.

Long-term mega-contracts like Naughton's is player power at its best - but a disaster waiting to happen for clubs

Here! Here!
I absolutely agree with you – Collingwood had a few frees for not paid in the GF, as you said in the heat of the moment the umpires were letting things slide.

Nope. Especially if he’s a bad boy.

Oliver to remain a Demon after crisis meetings, club ultimatum to 'shape up or ship off'

I like the bounce and the umpires do a really good job and did so on Saturday. Sometimes in wet weather it makes more sense to have it thrown up.
But the start of the game has to be a ball-up.

COMMENT: THAT advantage call wasn't a shocker - the rule is just completely broken, and the fix is simple

When mentioning Magpie haters you forgot to acknowledge Kane Cornes, the chief despiser!

Show us some dare, some verve, imagination, theatre! An open letter to the AFL

I think that one of the worst rules going is the “stand” rule, where some umpires pay a 50 metre penalty even if a player is only half a step over the mark, or worse, when that player backs away from the mark, as happened on Saturday when Markov did it.
Anyway you look at it, 50 metres is far too much to pay against the offending player.
This is the only sport that has this stupid situation.

Rubbish!
You’ve just got sour grapes!

Pies claim thrilling 16th flag after CLASSIC grand final... but Lions rue 'ridiculous' late call that scuppered last chance

It is the AFL we’re talking about, after all.
SNAFU!

The grand final ticketing debacle once again proves the AFL doesn't give a rat's about the fans

I think the saying was meant for GWS – “anyone anywhere” because they had won games at 11 different venues this season.

After years of blowouts and shockers, do we finally have an AFL Grand Final worth watching?

I’ve often thought the Brownlow voting should be changed from a “midfielders medal” to something fairer, because as umpires they are exposed to more action in the centre.
What you said about having two independent individuals voting at every game has much merit – something has to change!

Could Daicos' return backfire on the Pies? Five burning questions ahead of AFL preliminary finals

Premiers, “six as a player, two as a coach”, should be four as coach.
I know Ron Barassi was all for innovation and breaking new ground, but a night Grand Final is a step too far.
Tradition is big in our game and tradition says Saturday afternoon is the right time for the biggest game of the year.
The AFL’s desire to put commercial incentives first should not be allowed to over-ride public opinion.

COMMENT: It's time for the AFL to immortalise Ron Barassi - and only one prize is worthy of his name

Bugger off! I’m a Pies man and I won’t classify that as a loss because they have learnt a valuable lesson from this experience.

No way! Port is a very good team and didn’t give up all night. Tight as.
