You make some great points. I definitely agree with number 2. That was a huge reason behind the expanded 24 team Euro (which I hated in 2016, may as well make it 32 countries to make it a worthwhile competition).

Not entirely sure on number 1 though. I’m aware of FIFA and UEFA’s ‘one upmanship’ but I was under the impression that FIFA will soon announce a quadrennial club football tournament to be held during the Confed Cup (kind of like a protracted Club World Cup?)

Either way, its making UEFA money. Big quality matchups like France Germany will always get viewers and will attract sponsors so the only winner at the end of it all is UEFA.

What is the UEFA Nations League and why should we be interested?

Definitely agree with your sentiments mate. I would also back Argentina to beat Peru and the Argentina FA’s decision to move the game to the more intimidating La Bombonera stadium might also work in their favour.
You are also right about the Dutch. Despite their proud footballing history, they just haven’t got the talent in their current squad. In my opinion, they overachieved under LVG in 2014. It looks like its their neighbours Belgium which has inherited the talented crop of players.

Road to Russia: The home stretch

Beating the USMNT would be a huge feat for Australian football. However, I expect the US to kick on and finish 3rd meaning either Panama and Honduras could finish 4th-both very winnable games for the Socceroos over two legs.
