In regards to point 5, what would you call what happened to the Sharks in Round One? The game they should have won if it weren’t for Jarryd Maxwell.

How to know if you're rugby league obsessed (in a bad way)

The argument could be made that NSW could do with one LESS team, not one extra. Let’s face it, the Bears had their chance and they failed. They have demonstrated no reason at all why they would be sustainable at all in the future. If anything, this year should be judgement day for Cronulla. If I were the NRL, if the Sharks finished anywhere below 10th position this year, I would be winding them up and handing over a third license to an area that deserves it more.

First location, Ipswich. A second Brisbane team is just a no brainer now. There is not one argument against it that holds up. Even the Bombers don’t have the sort of market that Ipswich could appeal to.

Second team is a big toss up between Perth and PNG. Yes, Perth have had their chance in the past as well, but WA is virtually a new frontier, and I think they deserve a chance to have a go.

Hobart could pick up the license Cronulla leave behind. I couldn’t think of a better outcome for the NRL then that.

Listen to the fans and allow Central Coast Bears in

The Commissions first order of business HAS to be the T.V Rights deal. Money makes the world go round, and the NRL is no different. If the NRL really sees the GWS as a threat to Rugby League, the clubs need to be armed with enough money to stay competitive. Penrith, Souths and Wests specifically.

Rugby league's new era: where to now?

I was rather surprised and disappointed by Mattys comments. I can’t help but feel like they were made out of bitterness towards Channel 9 and a newfound superiority complex after hosting his own show, even though it ultimately failed.

Matty owes Fatty a bit of respect over Footy Show

I wrote an article where I was very scathing of the Manly board for their handling of the Des Hasler debacle, and I stand by the points I made.

With that said, I think Manly will make the 8, but they will be bungled out of the finals by a better coached team. Even if they finish in a decent position like 5th or 6th then get beaten, the Manly board will still look back and wonder if Des would have made a difference.

Hasler's departure could be key to Eagle success

All I’m seeing here is excuses. I think it is rich for a NSW fan to criticize QLD instead of NSW after losing 6 series in a row. Should you not be scrutinizing your selecters? Or your best players? Or your Coach? Why is it QLD’s problem?

The Blues still have the passion for Origin

There were more goals scored during the game then there were spectators in the stands.

You’re getting awfully defensive for someone who not too long ago was quite comfortable with the belief that GWS will succeed. You can rattle off what clubs support AFL and what clubs don’t all you like, but the fact of the matter is your code warrior antics are pointless.

GWS will not fold and it will not fail, as the Lions and the Swans haven’t. However, it will not put a dint in the NRL’s support in Western Sydney and will always remain second to it. It’s time you and the rest of Victoria get over it just like we have to get over the fact the Storm will never be at the same level as AFL in Melbourne, no matter how much money they’re cheating the cap by.

AFL sabre rattling a waste of time

Well let’s hope John Quayle is smart enough to recognize a lower case D and not an O.

Spelling Nazism aside, this is the exact same arrogance I referred to in the post you responded to. If you’re going to show off this attitude to the broader NRL community in Sydney, none of them will ever want anything to do with you.

AFL sabre rattling a waste of time

No, they’re too busy worshipping at the feet of Benji Marshall and the West Tigers.

Gentlemen, the proof is in the pudding; the very fact that the AFL had to resort to sniping NRL players to draw attention to their clubs makes it perfectly clear they had their doubts to begin with. Why do they need to piggyback off of the already well recognised NRL stars if the game of Aussie Rules is already as popular as you claim?

Bear in mind, I’m no advocate of Code Warfare, but all I have seen from Victorians since the announcement of the expansion locations is brazen arrogance, whether it be from high profile people like Sam Newman or just a regular fan. You have to face facts: if the Storm are destined to remain irrelevant in Melbourne as you claim, then the same can only be said of the Suns and GWS.

AFL sabre rattling a waste of time

Actually, I will think you will find that I do. Port Adelaide in particular are staring down the barrel of administration. I happen to watch the AFL Footy Show and have seen their CEO say so himself, as their performance this year was woeful.

I heard a similar comment from Garry Lyon in regards to the Crows.

AFL sabre rattling a waste of time

Living in QLD, and having visited NSW a fair few times, I can honestly say it is very typical.

AFL sabre rattling a waste of time

I have to disagree.

I should have added in my article how up to their neck Port Adelaide and Adelaide are in various troubles, not the least of which is membership numbers and attendance.

Western Australia, I will grant you, but only because Rugby League has no presence over there, and the A-League and NBL still have a long way to go to drawing attention to themselves.
