Did the Cumberland Throw originate from Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling?

A history of hip-drops: What Super Rugby can learn from NRL & NFL to stamp out footy's most dangerous tackle

Yeah, let’s go back to Cheika, cause going back to Eddie worked..
What could possibly go wrong?
RA needs to implement the Coaches, ex girlfriend and ex wives policy..
1. Never ever go back.
2. If in doubt read #1.
3. If still in doubt, get your soberest mate to reread #1 to you.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

Agree, we keep signing blokes to big $ based on potential and not performance.
Vunivalu is the perfect example..

Wonder kid offered 3-yr, $1.6m deal to stay in Aussie rugby - and why it could see Wallabies stars leave Ballymore

As a long-suffering North Sydney Bears fan, Les Kiss was one of my favourite players.
I have been following his career for a while; like the player he was, it is great to see he has been a coach of the hard yards.
He has put in the work and instills it in his players.
He is the right man at the right time for the Reds.
You can see it in his players and the way they play.
Yes, Reds will be must watch this season, reminding me like 2011.
Just like kiss from a beautiful woman brings a smile to your face, so too does this Kiss from the Reds.

Discovering the blueprint for Super Rugby success: How Kiss managed to get away from a one-dimensional style

NRL News: Walker confirmed fit for Vegas opener, 'biggest fan day ever' as crowds welcome players

If the Brumbies merge or fold, I’m done with Super Rugby.
As a long-suffering Bears fan, I haven’t followed League since the culling.
I’ll just watch club and Wallabies.
The betrayal, self-interest and mis-management of the so-called custodians of the game is appalling and abysmal.
I feel for the Rebels, just like I did the Force, but I will mourn the Brumbies.

Brumbies shut down talk of following Rebels into voluntary administration

Just get behind him lads.
He’s our coach now, so let’s give him all the support he needs.
I’m glad we have Schmidt as coach, best option for us.
If he can do half the job he did for Ireland we’ll be going okay.
By the way, can someone recommend a good Pest Control guy for RA?
They’ll need to do a pre-spray before the white-anting starts…

I’d be happy with Schmidt….. so long as they don’t sack him 6 months out from the world cup…for Eddie when he starts looking for a job again..

RA set to sign World Rugby's HP director - and he could help land Joe Schmidt as Wallabies coach

Nobody’s perfect…

Rugby News: Lote 'feels sorry' for Suaalii as he predicts rookie's impact, Barrett seals ABs return

Just like Covid revealed democracy’s biggest con, that it really is a totalitarian wrapped in a democratic cloak.
So too, McLennan‘s actions revealed it was never about Rugby, just his ego all along…

Great article Geoff.
I hope Dan Herbert governs like he played, plenty of courage, and a desire to do the hard yards.

ANALYSIS: McLennan's fatal blind spot, and why his exit leaves Australian rugby in a better place and a worse one

No point having a review if nothing is ever enacted on.
Geoff, I’d love to see a story on how many items have been enacted on in the last 20 years.
Unfortunately, you mightn’t reach your word quota to justify the article.
I’m guessing it will only be a paragraph long, two at the most.

The Wrap: What will the Wallabies' external season review reveal that we don’t already know?

Really enjoyed the quarters, great skills, great rugby, great style clashes.
As for Centralisation…
The Brumbies know if they hand the keys over to RA like NSW did, they won’t have ACT in their name any more.
I have real concerns about RA’s S&C program, how many Achilles injuries on their watch.
Centralisation can work if you employ the best people…won’t work if it’s a job for the Usual Suspects…
Is RA mature enough to hire the best and put the best interest of the game first?
For the good of the game let’s hope so, history and self-interest says otherwise.

'Be Australian': How the RWC QF classics showed we must urgently define and deliver our own style

It’s obvious EJ wants to be fired so he can earn a nice performance-free payout.
Then he can take up the Japan gig guilt-free…

Eddie digs in as he flies home - AGAIN denying he wants to quit to coach Japan, while revealing next step

“but sacking Eddie Jones isn’t the answer”
Exactly, why sack someone and have to pay out their contract when they are just about to ask for an early release to take up a more lucrative contract elsewhere…. in say…. Japan….

The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer

We really need to set up some sort of play maker academy.
Get all our 10, 12, 15’s in there together to work on all skills we want for them.
From grass roots to pro’s.
Teach it, learn it, drill it.
I’d much rather see money spent on this than wasted on some headline generating leaguie that will never understand the game or even more likely to never fulfil the hype/hope.
They’ve talked one up for decades get it done now!

'They're the guys to start with': Eddie tells Carter Gordon to study the greats after World Cup 'ups and downs'

Great article and finally someone has said it out loud.
I’m astonished that the mob running RA have forgotten that EJ was the one who started the rot..
The focus on league is misguided, and has led to stupid decisions and players.
League hasn’t been any good or close to rugby since the intro of the 10m rule.
Prior to that it was actually a decent game to watch. That’s why watching 70’s, 80’s & early 90’s League was closer to Rugby, instead of touch footy like it is today.
We need to bring back Rugby coaches, rugby players with Rugby iq.
Rugby is like a three course meal, whereas League is just fairy-floss, full of empty calories..

SPIRO ZAVOS: Eddie Jones' coaching flaw is his belief that rugby is the same game as league

Why don’t they just play Australia A and see if either team can get a win….
