You predicted the Socceroos to qualify for Russia no worries via the group stage

FACT: Socceroos are in the playoffs after finishing third

Maybe you are ignorant and clueless. Not surprising given you have the same qualifications as northener and I

Socceroos sweat on Cahill injury

Graham Arnold:

– previously played for the Socceroos
– previously managed the Socceroos
– he managed Sydney FC to an A-League title last year (a season in which Cahill played against his team)
– he is regularly asked to give his opinion on the Socceroos and Aus football in general as football fans in this country trust him

So yeah, I think he knows what he is talking about.

What are your qualifications Numpty Nemesis outside of “running a business” and “playing for your local club down the road”.

Socceroos sweat on Cahill injury

Don’t think you’re the best at writing them

you are just a fat bogan “BigJ”. big fella!

Yeah you’re cv must be as fat as your belly

likewise Marika Koroibete, Samu Kerevi, Tevita Kuridrani, Lopeti Timani and Sekope Kepu sound like a really profoundly Australian men.

Japan vs Wallabies preview and prediction

Maybe for you desperate league fans craving international recognition haha!

Yeah right, an Australian football team talking in Italian would not be legitimate. Likewise this Italian team made up of English speaking Australians is just a massive joke.

You really think Italians back in Italy care about league? Pretty much no one cares, especially if represented by English speaking Australians living and playing in Australia.

Stick to PNG mate.

shut up you redneck.

Is the cost of junior fees the next crisis in Australian football?

Born and bred Australian. Never played for Lebanon in Lebanon. Love it.

pretty much any NRL player is eligible for Fiji. Even a short summer holiday to the islands is enough

Things to look out for in week two of the World Cup

Will the so called “Italian” national rugby league team travel back to Italy and hold a post world cup press conference for the country they are “representing”

or will they have a big night out in Kings Cross or Bondi (even have a punch up) before driving back to the Sydney suburbia and living as Australians

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

You reckon Tedesco, Brown, Vaughan and Wakeman have lived even a single day in Italy? Have they even played a domestic or national team match in Italy?

Nah, one European contiki/yacht trip to the Mediterranean is enough to play for the “Italians”

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

I’m just stating facts mate. Keep pretending otherwise

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

You didn’t invent the so called “top tens” mate. Then again, you could add that to your cv

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

How embarrassing!!!

The Italian “national” team speak in English at team meetings and not the Italian language?!?! You know, the undisputed national language of the country they are representing?

Can you imagine the uproar in our country if the Australian national football team speak in Spanish or German? When the Davis Cup team speak in Russian?

James Tedesco and co. are pretending to be Italian, can you imagine any Italian taking them seriously when these guys have never played a rugby league game in Italy or even speak the Italian language at the world cup?!?!

What a joke.

Unfortunately I can’t “just move to north korea” in case you didn’t realise the country’s immigration policy.

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

Hilarious. In rugby league I could play for North Korea if I wanted to, just like anyone else pretending to play for another country.

I’m serious though: Do the “Italians” hold their team meetings in English?

The top ten most influential players at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup

How about the top ten players pretending to be “Italian”, “Lebanese” and “Scottish” for the next four weeks.

Do the “Italians” hold their team meetings in English?

How about the PI blokes swapping national teams like baseball cards every six months or so.

– Iran are one of the most successful national teams in Asian football.
– They were the first country to secure qualification to Russia with two games to spare

They have 3 in Eredivisie, 2 in Russia, 1 in Jupiler (Belgian) and 1 in Greece. Not much to boast in terms of clubs but guess what? They aren’t doing too badly on the international stage.

You refer to Japan’s golden generation of players (Nakamura, Endo etc)

But did you know during this period of time Japan actually had BARELY ANY players forging a successful career in Europe.

Yep that’s right. Everyone else flopped or stayed in the J-League like Yasuhito Endo.

Lack of Aussies playing regular football overseas a cause for concern

” Okazaki are not playing regularly”

You are mentally not there are you?

Correct me if I’m wrong but Okazaki played 40+ games in all competitions for Leicester City last season. Plus won a English Premiership before that. Not bad.

“With our potential, we should be first in our World Cup qualifying group, but the lack of talent shows in the end”

Potential potential potential. Blah blah blah. Every country has potential. Every country has potential to win their world cup group.

Shut up with your hypotheticals and look at the facts.

You say we lack talent yet we have potential? Did you get dropped as a child?

“Japan aren’t as strong as they used to be but still have six players starting in Germany, so imagine the position we are in…”

Why are they not as strong as they used to be?

With your arguments (About the number of players in European clubs = Quality of the national team), Japan are strong as ever.

Never before has Japan had so many players starting every weekend across the big four leagues of Europe. Never.

Lack of Aussies playing regular football overseas a cause for concern

“Again, are they playing regular football?”

Yes.

Lack of Aussies playing regular football overseas a cause for concern

Yuya Osako, Makoto Hasebe, Gotoku Sakai, Hiroki Sakai, Shinji Kagawa, Genki Haraguchi, Yuya Kubo, Takashi Inui, Yuki Kobayashi, Takuma Asano, Shinji Okazaki, Maya Yoshida, Takuma Minamino

All these players were involved in 30+ league matches last year in Germany, France, England, Spain, Austria and The Netherlands. Quite a few goals too. Nearly all of them as starters.

Lack of Aussies playing regular football overseas a cause for concern

Ben, this author is a lost cause. Every article he will state a ridiculous opinion (Which if fine, of course) but without making any logical coherent arguments (Which is laughable) and then proceeds to dismiss any poster who proves him ignorant (Which is not fine)

The author is also a blatant liar or a clown. Claiming to watch Kamamoto as his football hero growing up? Please.

Christian, you clearly have absolutely no idea about Asian football.

Japanese football in decline? You can make nearly two quality XIs of Japanese footballers playing first team football in Europe.

Asian football is improving. All the time. Australia and Japan are too but many countries (Especially SE Asia) are making more rapid progress.

Stop dismissing our opponents as they deserve more credit. You are the problem taking Asia too lightly.

“Club rugby has found a way to tap into the tribalism that comes – and can only come – from that grassroots connection to a club.

That tribalism and sense of belonging to clubs at the amateur level is a different connection to what fans feel for a professional franchise.”

Tribalism is the key word here. Something the AFL does brilliantly in this country. Even the most casual fans of AFL invest their time and money because of tribalism, something money can’t buy.

Which is more the reason why Australian Rugby needs to invest in a domestic club competition with or without New Zealand clubs for the health of the game in the long term.

Sure, expensive TV deals etc are important in the short term but empty stadiums and low viewer numbers clearly show fans aren’t interested in their team playing halfway across the world for weeks on end.

If you neglect to nurture the roots, the plant will eventually die

Righto Ange.
