I wonder if they want Carey to focus more on red ball from now on. If he plays all 3 formats, he will get drained out pretty fast. That’s too much cricket.

Pattinson and Head in Australia's best XI for South Africa Tests

Interesting observation. Reckon you are correct. Shami, Philander, Bhubaneswar Kumar et all are medium sized blokes. Maybe the seam position matters as well. Starc relies more on a wobbly seam for some reason.

Is Mitchell Starc lucky to still be playing Test cricket?

I hope Neser plays the first test. Starc needs some rest and Neser is raring to go.

Australia confirm their two squads for tours of New Zealand and South Africa

I like it. He thinks a bit like Bhubaneshwar Kumar I reckon.

Richardson to stick with goose step tactic

Carey with wade. Straight swap?

Alex Carey sends a message to selectors with brilliant BBL ton

Marsh can’t play Bumrah and Shami well. He’s good against spin though.

Does India's triumph herald a decade of dominance?

I wonder if calls to elevate rahane to the position of a *permanent* captain would grow louder in case the poms beat India in India.

The A to Z of the Border-Gavaskar series

I hope Neser gets one game (atleast). He is a handy batter as well, proficient enough to play the role that S Thakur played (in case of a collapse at the top).

Depth issues mean few changes for South Africa tour

Decipher this statistic

India’s win % (ODIs) is almost 64% (last decade, 2010-2019). Yet they don’t have any major ICC trophy after the 2011 wc win. Chokers 2.0 or something else?

Does India's triumph herald a decade of dominance?

You need to give enough opportunities to younger talents as well (on top of money, skill and population)

Reckon many talented players don’t get enough opportunities. Players like Sanju Samson, I. kishan, s Kumar Yadav etc. Waste themselves playing domestic tournaments and franchise cricket. I wonder if this is because of politics or something else. Maybe indians prefer swag over substance.

Does India's triumph herald a decade of dominance?

Excellent read! 👍

Starcs playing too much cricket I reckon. Mumbai Indians might pick him up for an insane price tag this season, as per sources. He should focus only on tests IMHO. That would ensure his longevity as well. He’s an asset to the team. Should not waste himself playing franchise cricket world over.

Australia's reliance on the 'Big Four' is hindering them

Some interesting stats-

Does India's triumph herald a decade of dominance?

A Win at the Gabba is historic, no doubt about that, however the sample size is still too small to reckon if India is indeed on the cusp of a decade of dominance
Reasons-
1) no major ICC trophy (in the bag) post 2011 WC win- dawn of the Kohli era
2) struggles in SEN (when the ball nips around)
3) over reliance on a group of stars – younger talents don’t get enough opportunities
A lot to look forward to 😁 . Exciting times ahead! 😊

Does India's triumph herald a decade of dominance?

To be fair, he probably wasn’t expecting Doug Bollinger and Nathan Hauritz to turn up instead of Lyon and Starc! 😔

Tim Paine's time as captain is done as Australia crumble to humiliation against India

Some people want Kohli the captain sacked so that kohli the batter can shine. I wonder how you feel about that.

Tim Paine's time as captain is done as Australia crumble to humiliation against India

Thanks a ton for this article. I feeling much better, after reading this. 👍

Not only is the sky not falling, this Australian Test team is really good!

So the pitch curators should be dropped (first) 😔

Australia is far from pitch perfect

I agree. You get used to pace after a while. One thing I don’t understand, why has Starc dropped his most lethal weapon, the Yorker from his repertoire. Do you remember the ball McCullum got upfront (wc 2015 finals). He should use that more often.

Australia is far from pitch perfect

Yes. True. A formidable quartet. But then, even Sri Lanka hammered them 2-0 (at home) just two seasons back.

Look we don’t have a bad team. We just had few bad days.

Rishabh Pant masterclass guides India to incredible fourth Test win at the Gabba

I doubt that. Saffies have many issues of their own.

And remember, they don’t have Philander anymore

That was a vicious turn.

Is this the moment that cost Australia the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?

Good areas and a tad bit of luck I reckon

Australia is far from pitch perfect

Exactly. Harmless banter at first. It got stretched once Ashwin quipped back.
