2005 coached the blues to an origin series.. did we forget about that one?

Did the NSW selectors get it wrong? Don't be so sure

Stuart failure as a coach? Premiership in his first year and grand final appearances in his next two would suggest otherwise.

Taking a Cronulla side to within one game of a grand final in 2008 with a roster that only included Kimmorley at the end of his career and Gallen. Greg Bird sacked mid-season as well mind due.

Single-handedly turned the blues from easybeats to an extremely competitive force in Origin again. And you can thank Stuart for ANZ stadium being sold out the last few times a game has been there.

Ask the blokes who have played for him. Failed coach? dont be so sure

More knowledge of rugby league and origin. The likes of Daley are legends of the game and are more qualified to come up with a side they think can get the job done

You look through history and it suggests that all great sides in any sport eventually have an off night. Queensland for the first time in donkeys years come into a series with a few distractions ie ben teo saga, boyd injury and their top players arent quite at the top of their game where they have been in previous years. The likes of thurston, cronk, slater and smith will play well but their form line coming in isnt that great.

When I say lets not debate I mean we shouldnt bag the coach or selectors because of the supposed shit players they have chosen. I still debate whether Todd Carney should have been left out or if there should have been a 4th forward on the bench but I am 100% behind this team and am not bitter about some of my favourite players being left out. There are people who wont support the blues all because their favourite players arent chosen and thats what the ‘lets not debate’ comment was directed at.

There are people with more knowledge then the avearge punter like yourself and I who make these decisions so lets back them.

I didnt say old I said “long in the tooth” meaning they have been at the top for a long time and might slip up where they wouldn’t have in previous years. There is a sense of timing for the blues or thats the way I feel at least.

Kasiano played for NZ in Townsville last year so I think that is pledging allegiance

Benji must play fullback for Kiwis

Game one 2010 Brett Kimmorley was the halfback, Mitchell Pearce wasnt chosen until the second game.

And Minichiello as a certainty at fullback? did you not watch Brett Stewart last year? 3 tries for the series, consistent club performer, hard not to pick him in your side

Experience, not form, will win State of Origin this year

Tahu in good form? please, i’m a Newcastle fan and he couldnt even lace Jenning’s boots currently

Ticket prices were ridiculous. $50 just to sit on the hill. Why would a family of 3 kids go at that price, especially when a keep of players are ruled out with bogus injuries. Kids should get in for free, $25 flat rate for everyone else. NRL should be doing this game to give back to CRL and not try to make any serious money from it. When the clubs and NRL don’t take it seriously its hard for the fans to as well. This game is a part of the television schedule under the new TV deal so they might as well do it correct. Make it a LIVE telecast would be a good start, get the ground full and NRL teams should be supporting the concept, not undermining NSWRL doctors who have ruled the players fit. Thats where a big problem lies IMO.

Why we should keep City Country

NRL clubs annoy me because they have whinged about having stand alone weekends for years and now that they have them they rob the fans of seeing the best talent available for the game. I agree it is hard to take it seriously when Tedesco and Sironen are in the side. Country picked a legitimate side that had plenty of good draw cards. If you lived in Coffs Harbour and you had to fork out $50 bucks to sit on the hill? a family of five for general admission would have to fork out $250 just to get in and they haven’t had a feed or a beer yet. All kids under 16 should get in for free, $25 bucks for everyone else coming into the ground. This game should not be seen as a money maker for the NRL. It should be about promoting CRL by giving every kid in the area a chance to come and watch the game with minimal charge. As fans we give so much to the game e.g. memberships, merchandise. Channel 9 and Fox Sports paid one billion dollars to broadcast the game on the back of big television numbers from the fans. If clubs take the match more seriously and the NRL focus on giving something to the country fans rather than trying to take everything from their pockets, and Channel FUCKING Nine show the game live I think the concept can survive.

Why we should keep City Country

I would love four of the best players from different divisions in the country. When tickets cost $50 just to sit on the hill of course the fans are going to boycott the game.. I wouldn’t have gone either at that price. The NRL should be doing this game to give back to grassroots rugby league in the country and not trying to make money out of it. They make plenty of money from television and Origin etc. an investment needs to be made on it.

Why we should keep City Country

The whole diving issue has come about due to the incompetency of the old referreing system.

When they started to go upstairs for every little error/strip/high tackle this was always going to be the case.

Penalties are a crucial part of the modern game.

If the referee is going to review the incident every time than what is the player to do? Of course they will stay down, the rule book says no contact with the head and if the player believes there was contact they will stay down every time.

Hate the system, not the players.

NRL players should keep diving

Everything that is going on is farcical. You only have to hear what Gus Gould was saying in the pre-match show tonight about it… it leaves a lot to be desired

Shane Flanagan stood down as coach of Cronulla as drug scandal explodes

I think ASADA should be throwing the book at Stephen Dank.

And for players to be banned for taking supplements which were legal at the time but now face punishment because they are banned.

It’s ridiculous to comprehend.

What the players should be arguing is not their innocence or integrity but the rulebook they were operating under.

What was done at the time was legal in 2011. It’s banned now but they did nothing wrong at the time.

It’s like me arguing a result should be changed from 1991 because of the rulebook the NRL operates under now.

Its crazy.

R.I.P. Cronulla Sharks

I watched this guy last year and I was in awe. He is the next great front rower in our game. Reminded me of a Glenn Lazarus type player.

David Klemmer: the new million dollar man

The NRL is a competition of swings a roundabouts. Its rare for sides to perform strongly year after year. Even Brisbane who are strong every year have their ups and downs. Storm lost 5 straight and looked a shell of their normal selves. Penrith finished second in 2010 and haven’t troubled anyone since. Dogs turned around due to Hasler’s arrival, St George cant win games anymore, Cronulla had a good season last year. It changes all the time. It wasn’t that long ago Souths were a bottom 8 side.

Time for the Knights to fulfil potential

Not sure who I glossed over J.Smith but him bringing success is a big factor.

Enjoying the feedback I am getting, its great
