Slammin' Sam Cane shows just how good the Kiwis' super sevens are

A 6 point deficit at work in the last round requires half calculated risks:
-Highlanders
-Chiefs
-Jaguares
-Blues (only because I’m desperate)
-Brumbies
-Sharks (only because I’m desperate)
-Bulls

Super Rugby Round 18: For the clubhouse lead

Something that would make every international interesting and important would by adjusting the RWC draw to one of two things :

1- have the draw only a year out from the event.

2- this would be my preferred option. Have the draw at it’s current time but only draw the ranking numbers (e.g. Pool A is the teams ranked 1, 5, 10, Africa 1 and Repechage) then 1 year out you set the teams in stone. This means we can watch the pools morph and adjust every test weekend in the middle 2 years between cups.

Imagine the added intensity if SA vs Scotland in November 2022 became a winner takes 4th rank and top of their RWC pool game instead of just a November International?

League of Nations is an idea worth discussing, but…

The same skills coach that created the current All Blacks team. And I think the question that creates is answered by Folau after his high ball incident vs Ireland where he flat out refused to adjust his technique.

I think Australia needs to sacrifice the short term for a long term benefit instead of sacrificing both for no benefit as they currently are; get rid of Cheika and find a coaching TEAM with a history of improving teams and culture long term, Tony Brown and Jamie Josephs work with the Highlanders and Sunwolves comes to mind, and have them pick a team based on potential and willingness to work towards reaching it and being a team player.

On paper, the Highlanders had no chance of beating the Hurricanes in 2015. But it is consistently shown in any area of life, Hard work will beat natural ability.

Six talking points from Wallabies vs Argentina

No idea of a hard fought series?

Yeah that Lions tour was a real cake walk last year, wasn’t it?

Brilliant Beauden Barrett bags All Blacks another Bledisloe Cup

And again the referee demolishes a really entertaining game. The reds, like the tahs last week, were playing well and in control with the sunwolves keeping pace on the scoreboard and providing positive and decent competition. The reds, like the tahs last week, will undeservedly run away with this when they might have done anyway but in a fair, entertaining contest.

Off goes the rugby and on comes the Xbox

Reds vs Sunwolves: Super Rugby live scores, blog

No double standards from me, Tahs were robbed against the Saders without a doubt.

My big issue with this particular red is that I feel it was less dangerous than the yellow card incident. I wouldn’t have any card complaints if the Wolves had recieved 2 red cards. However, a yellow was awarded which logically means a less dangerous tackle should be a yellow or penalty.

Regardless, one card was definitely wrong and a good contest was ruined

The Hannigan comment was clearly a hyperbole for comedic effect, which i guess didn’t land.

I believe him holding that player should have been penalised which meant a try wouldn’t have been scored.

Again, I believe there were 3 tries off forward passes that were missed. If you would choose to prove me wrong instead of calling me a liar, I would accept that i was wrong.

Until then, it is not lying if I believe I am stating the truth. I accept that I could be wrong, but from the point in time I made the statement to the point I am proven wrong, the statement will never have existed as a lie.

Has the term ‘hyperbole’ not made it across the Tasman yet?

For me it was a yellow, but honestly i would accept it as a red if Tanaka had also recieved red because I view his one as more dangerous; do you think the red was valid if you put your perspective with the ref viewing Tanakas as only a yellow?

Seven talking points from Super Rugby Round 18

Unfortunately, I didn’t follow the blog as I was still driving home from the Hurricanes game.

There are 0 lies and false statements in my 2 comments. I did give the Waratahs credit in the form of “they scored beautiful tries” and “their talented backs capitalized” which are 2 positive and true statements.

I can not make up fake facts, either something is a fact or it is not.

Attacks on me are deserved because you made them? Interesting way to approach life…

Seven talking points from Super Rugby Round 18

I am aware it was a winger, and the waratahs found endless space out wide because of it and their talented backs capitalized.

Comparing the sunwolves to the all blacks is ridiculous and you know it, the waratahs had this match before it started but the sunwolves were stepping up and providing some real fight as the underdog; this game could have been one the seasons highlights.

I think its very telling that you used half of your comment to attack me directly and not debate or disprove anything I said.

Do you not agree that Tanakas ‘tackle’ on Gordon was more dangerous than the red card tackle, and the fact it only got yellow made the red card seem even more over the top? If not, I’d love to hear your opinion and reasoning.

Personally, I watch rugby to see entertaining games of competitive flowing rugby displaying high skill and good spirit; which I was very happy to be enjoying for the first half. I’d love to see where you read, in my comment, that i said ‘australia is pants’; my only comment on the waratahs was that they scored some beautiful tries.

Seven talking points from Super Rugby Round 18

That was a disgusting display from the ref, ruined what was an awesome, close match.

3 tries off forward passes plus Hanagin holding a player for the entire first half leading up to a 4th try that shouldn’t have been awarded. And that red was total crap, a yellow at most and then undermined his own threshold by yellow carding Tanaka for a worse tackle.

The sunwolves were actually competitive tonight and the ref killed what could have been a classic, this game will surely be used as ammo against their life in this comp now.

So, so disappointing. The waratahs scored some beautiful tries, it all just felt so hollow though. I can’t remember a single game more destroyed by a ref; and yes kiwis i remember 2007 and the lions series.

And with the rebels win, aussies teams combined have now overtaken the sunwolves for wins against NZ teams since the start of the 2017 season

I would argue that the Warriors are more unpredictable, they must be giving the bookies nightmares.

It’s a shame the talk around Super Rugby is mostly negative as the competition is infinitely better than last year. It’s great to see the Jags and the Sunwolves getting results and SA has really stepped it up in terms of local and inter-conference competitiveness; I believe all 5 teams can finish 1st or last depending on results.

If the Brumbies and Blues can get it together, next year is going to be the best season in quite a while.

Good to know! So do you move Paia’aua to 12 or the bench?

And I’m assuming you men Ben Lam 😉
