The gap between top and lower tier Test nations has widened considerably in recent years. I am beginning to worry about the longevity of test cricket with such IPL fat cats being forced to play and perform longer than 3 hours a day. The passion for the game seems to be ebbing into the doldrums with T20 as the main offender in my view. Apart from my gripes with T20, i feel having the ICC practically run by the BCCI is damaging test cricket with overflowing schedules for most countries, jam packing multiple ODI’s in between big Test tours (10 ODI’s prior to trip to India Test tour, and then full IPL and Champion Trophy campaigns prior to The Ashes in England). It seems to me most subcontinent teams put on the park are just so disinterested in playing the short forms of the game let alone 5 day cricket. I can’t see much changing over in the subcontinent in their approach because nobody stays in a position of coaching power long enough to warrant any change.
Subcontinent teams are ruining Test cricket
