AFL, the organization have created the concept of a charity match. So from your logic, they can call it what they want. The SoO concept you referred to died many years ago. This is the new SoO concept. Move with the times, no need to live in the past.

AFL State of Origin for Bushfire Relief: Preview

Didn’t they lose by 10 goals to Collingwood at the Gabba? 10 goals would have to be considered getting blown away…………

The best 2019 games to get you through the off-season

Yes it is still grounds for a Canberra scrum feed, it was a Roosters trainer who touched the ball. Pretty straight forward really.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

That is the funniest post I have seen on this site………….. So the issues raised have very little to do with free speech…….. but the consequences of free speech, which funnily enough still has to do with free speech…….

You have issues with religious zealots speaking it seems……. Good to know you choose who can and can’t speak…..

The thing no one wants to say about Israel Folau

AFL want the tournament…..

AFLPA and Clubs have signed off on the tournament…..

Players playing want to play in the tournament………….

Seems it is only some fans who have issues in the tournament……….

Later on you say you are ok with young players playing in the tournament……. Does that change if they are touted as a potential star and young?

Let the players play, enjoy or don’t enjoy AFLX yourself…..

AFLX draft results: who got picked from your club

Totally agree that supporters and clubs need to be optimistic, for every club in the competition, even last years premiers.

Just believe the level of optimism is unwarranted, as they were not impressive last season (2018). Only one win more than the Suns, who have been labelled a basket case.

Brisbane Lions 2019 season preview, best 22 and predicted finish

@Jorge of Brisvegas, you have just made my point for me. Look up at the few tasty morsels you say, well you hope they turn into something. As does every team at this time of year. When the Lions don’t progress as this article believes they will, because of the “tasty morsels” you refer to, don’t come to fruition…. what then? They sell more hope again next year?? I am stating, that they won’t turn into anything, and that this team will still be on the bottom. So still a bottom dweller (In AFL speak).

Brisbane Lions 2019 season preview, best 22 and predicted finish

Will be in the bottom 2-3 teams again this year.

Hope is eternal, but that’s all the Lions can sell. They are a poor side, who just lost a quality player in Beams. Won’t be getting any better this year.

Brisbane Lions 2019 season preview, best 22 and predicted finish

Not sure about your maths, but the loss was 28 points………… Doesn’t equate to the 7 goal win you are talking about.

Good to see the Tigers fans getting ahead of themselves again…..

Sure, Richmond are first, but it's not daylight second

It was shown on Ch 7 actually. On the Monday night football show Talking Footy. Not sure where you get your information from.

Even as an innocent bystander, football is implicated

Umm, no the top 3 didn’t lose. 1 & 2 lost. The 3rd placed side beat the 2nd placed side.

Brisbane will get smashed this weekend.

Which Round 17 slip up will prove the most costly?

Melbourne are the reason they gave 11-1 frees in the third term. No one else. Nothing to do with home ground advantage. If there is this “home ground” advantage you speak of, it wouldn’t be 19-10 at half time. Plain and simple.
As a neutral supporter watching the game, it was on the whole well officiated, and the frees given were there.

Melbourne's defeat raises big questions

The ARU have actually decided he can do both.

Tell your story walking Israel. The NRL doesn’t want your crap

All these people sprouting inclusion are so hypocritical.

Inclusion means including Folau and the views he holds. Whether you agree with them or not.

And Tim you say:

“Some people are actually slamming Joyce for using his position as Qantas CEO to push what they see as his own agenda.

What utter rubbish.”

Why is Folau not allowed to use his platform of social media to forward his agenda. Same as you said Luther King did.

Because YOU believe Folau’s agenda is wrong.

Tell your story walking Israel. The NRL doesn’t want your crap

Result was a draw, that’s a close game, can’t get any closer actually.

Doesn’t matter who one what half or quarter.

And in this game, they had to dig in until the last play of the game to get the draw

Adelaide were exposed in the grand final. Their response will define 2018

Did you not see the DRAW they also had with Collingwood in round 19?

I would consider that a close game.

Adelaide were exposed in the grand final. Their response will define 2018

The Suns might be failing, but GWS are far from failing in the AFL.

An expansionist ideal: Part 2 – The NSW and Queensland Cup

Best player in the last 15 years?? Think Kobe was the best player on the planet for a lot of those years actually…….

LeBron James keeps the broken Cavs the class of the wretched East

Hasn’t performed when it matters most for many years though now.

Seasons are fine, but finals are when it counts, and when it counts he is a spud (no sarcasm).

Geelong can and should land Gary Ablett and Jake Stringer

Its funny, in the article, you are honest and say you were praying for “injustice” for Barry Hall to get off.

It just shows, that your article is in the same vain, praying for injustice for a hit to the head of a player, who was left concussed due to Cotchin’s actions.

Would be much nobler if you could admit that the action deserves a suspension.

The Cotchin decision was the right decision and we all know it

I am not sure that he has to explain his decision, just as a club doesn’t have to explain recruitment decisions, or even game day selection decisions.

To say that Archer has to explain why he picked who he did is beyond ridiculous.

Also to expect this explanation as a reason to have coaches and fans stop complaining, is again beyond a joke.

Just let them referee and there will always be mistakes, deal with it and move on.

Are you picking the best people for the finals, Mr Archer?

No, it would be proving the point that they won’t let people leave if there is a contract (especially one where the player has demanded a longer contract).

If there was an article about Gibbs leaving for Adelaide I would comment that it is all about him. Not sure about the history of Gibbs contract and whether he pushed for a longer one and wanted to leave like Gary though.

If the Cats want him, then they can pay exactly what the Suns ask for him. Suns aren’t here to help teams like the Cats get ahead even further.

Sorry Gazza, a move back to Geelong won't repair your broken legacy

No the shame is he was offered a 1 year contract, then pushed the Suns for a 3 year front loaded contract.

Then asks to leave after 12 months.

Speaks to the character of the man, all clearly about him.

Suns should make him play out his contract or retire. A great player, but clearly a better mercenary. Its all about Gary.

Gary is to blame, not the Suns. He knew what they were asking of him, when he accepted the multi million dollar contract when he first went to the Suns.

Sorry Gazza, a move back to Geelong won't repair your broken legacy

x2

The AFL's match review panel is consistently inconsistent

I think I said he stuck out his foot to protect from oncoming traffic,…… didn’t say he wouldn’t be aware of someone coming without locking eyes on them.

He makes contact in the stomach or even chest there isn’t even a conversation about it. Fevola use to raise the foot very regularly to protect from oncoming traffic, not once suspended or fined.

If you believe its not possible to tell with any integrity, you therefore can not make the argument that he deliberately targeted the head of the oncoming player. With any “integrity” that is.

The MRP has failed, letting the dangerous Toby Greene off
