Perhaps the rebuild is aimed at 2025 and the Lions tour….

COMMENT: Eddie must be axed if he can't beat Wales - or the game will be in deep trouble in Australia

At my local park a year or two ago, I saw some golden oldies playing touch. There was one big bloke doing a lot of yelling, and I was thinking “fair go, mate – it’s just for fun and exercise.” As I got closer I saw it was Stirling and thought “seeing as you’re a former Wallaby captain, do as you please”. Wikipedia lists him as 1.91m, which translates to 6’2.

Why the Wallabies need their big winger back

As a side note, I believe that M.Waugh’s 4 ducks in a row lead to the nickname “Audi”…

Steve Smith’s highlights and unusual sidelights of the 2019 Ashes

Yep, on form alone Cummins and Pattinson are in.

Siddle/Bird/Nesser?? – I would discard Bird from the equation.

Selectors must opt for Siddle over Starc in first Ashes Test

England has been suffering a heat wave, and the green tops of summers past were generally in the early part of the summer. So with the late start and the hot weather, we could see some hard fast pitches. Remember how The Oval was always the fastest pitch in the UK, and was also the last test of the summer – baking all season saw it come up as suiting the raw pace of Devon Malcolm, for example. That said, as pointed out, Aussie express bowlers have not got the results of the swing and seam merchants. I’m glad I’m not picking the team….

Selectors must opt for Siddle over Starc in first Ashes Test

Again the problem in Australian rugby surfaces, and if you’ll allow an indulgence, it can be boiled down as somewhat akin to: “Too many bankers, not enough brickies”. So the Saffas are likely to hold the advantage in boat races also….

The Rugby Championship Week 1: Blow out the cobwebs

Remember that this case is about the legality of the stand down rules, not the actual alleged offence itself.

'He wasn't educated': De Belin's lawyers play the blame game

Homosexuals fit into the rest of the list also – so why single them out?

Israel Folau to fight Rugby AU sanction

Thanks for this perspective.
The idea of sin and redemption has been a part of the Christian tradition for 2000+ years.
The difference here is around behaviour – I make choices about some of the mortal sins that Folau has pointed out, though I have no more control over my sexuality than I do over my skin colour, the colour of my eyes, or the size of my feet.

What ever his motivations, 12 months ago RA spoke to Israel and explained their point of view. Subsequent behaviour and comments indicated that Folau did not agree (as is his right), and he has now transgressed again. RA have no choice but to sever ties with him. Ironic really – do the crime pay the time is also what Folau was saying….

The tragic tale of Israel Folau

Most accurate comment I’ve read in this thread

Waratahs make no excuses for shock loss

It’s elite mate ship – get a root, tell all yer mates.

Chill out, Dylan Napa, fresh outrage is coming

Or the story becomes “a leopard never changes its spots”.
Let Kohli do as he does, and I hope the Aussies play with determination and good humour. Kohli excepted, from what I’ve seen so far this series it’s been “gentlemanly conduct”.

Virat Kohli's sledging has lit the fuse on this series

I dont think the suggestion of a coaching svengali is that they will actually coach – that must remain the remit of the bloke whose job title is “coach”. I think the suggestion is more of a sounding board. “What do you like about this player?”; “How will you get this bloke to deliver?”; “have you thought about picking more Waratahs?”

Heads must roll as Cheika's Wallabies lose against Wales with stupid play

I think Hooper is amongst our best 15 players, but I don’t think he is in our best XV…there’s the dilemma. Pocock is the superior breakaway in my view, and seemed to me in the first game to have taken on some of the captaincy in speaking with the ref and rallying the team. I’d like to see a tall number 8 who can smash defences and jump in lineouts (is Read available?), but not sure who that should be.

Michael Hooper is delusional and must be benched

First comment I agree with, last comment is ridiculous.

Queensland is great, NSW is not, Origin is dead. Now what do we do?

Maybe instead of having a camp at the casino, or in Kingscliff, they could have a camp in non-coastal regions. Help out a farmer with his work. Coach some kids who have been driven for 4 hours to see them. Give a short boost to the local economy. Serve the state.

When you get the Blues, get rhythm

Thanks Scott. I wanted to comment but I have been overwhelmed by a massive headache. I need a Bex and a lie down.

Australian cricket turmoil: What's really going on in this ridiculous pay dispute?

Last time I saw Jesus play, he seemed to be everywhere! Healed the injured, too. And after the game at the clubhouse…no shortage of wine.

ARU crisis: A whistleblower speaks

Not sure about Yoda – over 800 years he is. Short term investment.

ARU crisis: A whistleblower speaks

We often hear that sport is for the players, which is true for the amateur level. But professional sport is for the audience, live or on TV.

They call me The Fixer, and I'm here to fix rugby in Australia

I like your creative thinking around the tickets, and heard on Sydney radio through the week that the AFL are offering free entry for kids when an adult buys a ticket. There will obviously be restrictions, but a similar deal could be investigated.

With the 2019 RWC in Japan, I imagine IRB and SANZAAR have a commercial arrangement to help build the profile of the game in Japan.

"We'll reveal the unlucky team... after the break": ARU goes full Australian Idol on Super Rugby announcement

I think you’ll find WG Grace was a noted sledger. Aussies didn’t introduce it and its been going on for 100 years at least. Though there did used to be some humour occassionally…..

Kohli is winning the war of the words

Given the 100+ year history of the Waratahs, and the 20 year history of friction between they and the Brumbies, (as the unloved little brothers as positioned by the Brumbies at their birth) a merger would likely have the same result you alluded to with the Cats. That is not a factor between Rebels and Brumbies. Perhaps they could ask Stirling to host the first bonding session…

How about an Australian Super Rugby joint venture?

Loved the 3rd paragraph. Succinct and on the money.
