Former Rugby fullback/winger who plied his trade in Zambia, Wales and briefly Sydney, before becoming a fully fledged member of the Foredeck Union, on a number of Offshore Ocean Racing Yachts.

Not bad, but I’d put Kata ahead of Speight, and Slipper ahead of Sio……he’s been far more solid in the scrum so far this year.

Super Rugby: Five talking points from Round 4

Nah….former Brumbies Super Rugby Championship winning Coach. 😛

Eddie Jones apologises for racism joke

Actually their easiest game of the season may well actually be against the Tahs.

Super Rugby Round 4 teams: Rebels smashed by two huge outs

Nice one Gatesy! I too think it’s on the up, I’ve been a fan of the Seawolves from day 1, as I have been a long time fan of the Seahawks, both from Seattle obviously.
The Canterbury Rugby Union/Crusaders are a minority shareholder in the franchise, so that would suggest they are taking it seriously.
Tasman Makos played the Seawolves and the Sabre Cats in a couple of pre season friendlies this year, I think things are looking positive. They have also been pretty smart not starting the season until the NFL season finishes.

Wrapping up Round 1 of Major League Rugby

It’s just plain dumb…..you would have thought that the games least likely to be affected by extreme heat would be scheduled for the start of the season.
As such Highlanders should have played first round, Sunwolves shouldn’t have a bye week 2…….just stupid scheduling.

The Wrap: Jackals handed the keys to the Super Rugby lodge

I’ve also just realised that the Sunwolves have the bye this week…..it’s winter in Japan ffs. Who mismanaged this draw?

The Wrap: Jackals handed the keys to the Super Rugby lodge

The weird thing about that is we’re starting in Summer, yet the team with the ideal stadium for an early start, doesn’t play…….madness!

The Wrap: Jackals handed the keys to the Super Rugby lodge

My wife and I were at the game…..it was okay at first, then the breeze dropped, and humidity went up, it was stifling. My wife, had to find some air conditioning, she felt that bad…..to be fair we aren’t in the youngest demographic, but there are a lot of regulars around us in a similar bracket, who will certainly think twice before going again in those conditions.
Cannot imagine how the players must have been feeling afterwards.

McKellar slams Super Rugby's summer start

Gatesy, it’s always more interesting when you have skin in the game. Obviously it’s always Brumbies first for me, but as some here may already know, I’m also a fan of the 2 time defending champions Seattle Seawolves…I’ve been a fan of the Seahawks since about 1982, so it made sense to stick with the same city.
I also support the Newcastle Falcons, my Dad was born there, and Scarlets, I played for Rhyl, one of their feeder teams 😁

US Major League Rugby enters its third season

Think you might need the mashie niblick for this one 😂

New-look Tahs targeting Super Rugby title

As they were on they way out of the harbour, Wild Oats almost caused a collision with Comanche. As Comanche was on starboard tack at the time, they had all rights, Wild Oats should have given way, but didn’t.
Once Comanche raised the protest flag, if Wild Oats had performed 2 x 360 degree penalty turns, she would have been deemed to have served her penalty. That would have taken less than 10 minutes, and she would have still been in contention…..it was extremely dumb, and smacked of arrogance.

Comanche wins the 75th Sydney to Hobart

“ Comanche’s previous wins were in 2015 and 2017, the latter coming in race-record time after Wild Oats XI was stripped of the title in a post-race protest.”

The 2017 result was due to the arrogance of Mark Richards and crew. They knew there was was likely to be a protest, if they had performed a penalty turn, their win would have stood, but no, they thought they would get away with it…..there were a lot of people sniggering amongst the sailing community 😂

RA have issued a statement saying that whilst the details of the settlement are confidential, the figure of $8 million being bandied about is wildly inaccurate.

He’d only be any good on Special Teams as a punt or kick returner.

If I remember correctly, the stated amount of insurance was $2 million.

I think you missed Waldorf and Statler from The Muppets……. 😂

103 people more likely to captain the Wallabies than Israel Folau

I went to the Bledisloe Cup game there in 2010……word of advice don’t buy tickets at ground level. With the curve in the pitch you won’t be able to see the scrums if they are on the far side, or any rucks 😛

Enjoy yourself Geoff!

Great read as always Geoff….even that old urban myth about the ham sandwich! 😛

On the forgotten semi, I am channeling Rorke’s Drift…….it may be the only hope we have! Cymru am byth! 😁
