Congratulations to the thousands of volunteers across Australia that run the great game of football for the millions across Australia who love to play it.

What a freakin tough group to qualify from.

I’m glad we joined the AFC and not the South Americans.

Socceroos vs Iraq: The golden grass of home

Absolutely right F_W
if we finish third and have two more playoff rounds and then qualified, it would add to the FFA’s coffers by at least $10M.

However, would you take a win tomorrow night or risk playing 2 more rounds of qualifying against Iran and then Uruguay home and away?

The prizemoney will be increased again next year and will be around USD10M just for qualifying. Then you also have to add sponsorships, merchandise, TV, media etc etc not counting positive impact on A-League, junior registrations etc etc, future media deals sponsorship of A-League and junior football etc etc and so on and so on . . .

Socceroos vs Iraq: The golden grass of home

That’s true.

I just didn’t want to go through all the permutations.

Let’s just win and nail it.

Socceroos vs Iraq: The golden grass of home

If we come third we could have to play Iran and then Uruguay to get to Brazil.
Brings back bad memories and what a disaster that might be, so we better win tomorrow night,
I’m confident we will.

Its great that we are making our own destiny and if we win we are through irrespective of what Oman does.

Socceroos vs Iraq: The golden grass of home

We don’t get to play NZ in qualification this time.

AFC split into two groups, top two in each group qualify automatically.
Third team in each group play off.
Winner of third placed AFC playoff plays fifth placed CONMEBOL South American group (currently Uruguay or Venezuela) for the final place.

Oceania group winners (NZ) playoff against fourth placed CONCACAF North/Central America (Panama or Honduras) for another WC spot.

Yes the FFA could have done more to promote the WCQ series – instead of leaving it to the drawing power of the Socceroos to sell themselves.

Titanic Tuesdays sounds good.

The next two Tuesdays will be HUGE.

Tuesdays with Holger Osieck

Holger’s on his last legs if we don’t get a result tomorrow night.

Will he inspire us?
Will they do better?
Have to wait and see.

Jordan are no mugs, they beat Japan at home too.

Consolidated Revenue and it all helps to fund something for Australian football.

I hope Gallop hasn’t got a gambling or pokie problem . . . 🙂

Channel Seven to broadcast Liverpool, Man United friendlies

If he agreed to stay on at Victory or accepted an offer to play with the Wanderers, he would be match fit enough and one of the first players picked.

His greed or bad advice from agents is restricting his Socceroos career.
Or maybe his family made the decision for him.

Socceroos' door not closed on Kewell

I think 7 will be more worried about upsetting the world’s ManU or Liverpool fans than the local Sokkah community.

Its business as usual with AFL on 7 and the Sokkah on 7Mate. – at least McEnanny would be able to be in 2 places at once and they’ll have to get Leigh Matthews to call the Sokkah.

Socceroos need to give up on World Cup

Is there a FIFA Over 35s World Cup?

Socceroos need to give up on World Cup

Me too,
hope Japan has a shocker in front of 65,000 screaming fans.

Socceroos need to give up on World Cup

Gallop’s the man.
Look at the difference, especially in the media’s reception and positive outlook since he took over.

Most migrants these days are coming from China.

And China’s favourite sport is table tennis, not football.

A dummy's guide to AFL rules

Its a difficult transitional period for the Socceroos and their coach.

We thought we had the right man to blood new young players during this time, but because our results are not good and we have our backs to the wall to qualify now, we won’t see any new players or wildly entertaining games.

We’ll take an extra bus to Japan to park in front of goal and will desperately defend any lead in the homw games.

This is not the true Aussie spirit and the more Holger moves away from it the worse we play.

Socceroos need to give up on World Cup

The article says the games “will be shown live” and “on all devices”.

The FFA are doing well on those games because they are already sold out and doesn’t affect gate receipts and are icing on the cake.

Socceroos need to give up on World Cup

Nice away jersey and follows the trend for fans to want to connect with the historical roots of the game like the Wanderers.

But didn’t Surname sign with Sydney FC?

In Newcastle, history Jets into fashion

Well done Mariners.

Hope all is well and the club kicks on from here.

Mariners say they'll keep marquee coach

For those that don’t like finals football, its another round of finals football next week before the finals even start.

2 teams playng for the Premiership Plate, 2 teams playing for 5th spot and 4 teams playing for 5th and 6th spots in the finals.

Everything still at stake after a tense third Sydney Derby

Last thing Sydney needed on top of all their injury and suspension problems is Joel to shoot his big mouth off and swear at a linesman.

But if referees and the match committee are consistent they should send off and suspend at least 3 players EVERY game who abuse the officiials.

You can see it plain as day every game on the TV.

CONSISTENCY is all fans want and FAIRNESS.

You little Italian beauty!.

You are a legend and can’t wait till you put on the Sydney FC shirt and kick a ball around the training park with the sky blue lads.

My SFC membership is worth every cent.

On another blog they are saying that Hyundai, Fox and a couple of benevolent Sydney millionaires will chip in with the money and SFC will hardly have to pay anything for him.

And billionaire Russian owner David Traktovenko was prepared to pay him whatever he wanted to come to Sydney anyway.

Look forward to the announcement and world-wide press conference around 7PM tomorrow on Fox Sports.

This will be even bigger world news than Folau signing for the Giants.

Del Piero announcement set for Wednesday

Yeeessssssssssssss!!!

I already have my SFC membership renewal, but its worth twice what I paid for it now.

Well done SFC.

Well done also to WSW and the way you are building to a great Sydney rivalry.
The first derby is surely going to be a sellout at Parra, interesting to see if they move it to ANZ now.

Why the A-League needs Del Piero

Intereting season ahead for Australian football, the A-League and the Socceroos.

We need the right balance of experienced players for the Asian WCQ campaign and some good young players to step in if needed.

We haven’t made it to Brazil yet and still some nervous games ahead.

Make or break year for our young Socceroos

“The AFL don’t control the media”
I think you’ll find they do, particularly in Melbourne.

Remember the black ban on journalists who tried to expose drug cheats in AFL, they were denied access to talk to any players and banned from visiting any clubs.

Tanking is natural selection in action

Maybe Melbourne aren’t tanking, maybe they are just a badly run club and they can’t do any better.

Getting the best young drafts is one thing, but having the organisation that can turn them into good Aussie Rules players to your team’s advantage is another.

You don’t have to be among the bottom teams to throw a game or have a bet on other teams as has been proven in the past in all sports.
